Continuing where he left off in 1996-97,
when having a fine season in 1997-98, injuries apart, this hard-working
Liverpool wing back, who can play on either flank, and who combines excellent
tackling ability to getting up the line, where his crosses continued to
be an asset when the side was going forward, rounded it off when selected
for Norway in World Cup '98 in France during the summer.
He was even used further forward for the Reds on occasion, in
order for the club to take advantage of super crosses that were whipped
in with some power and occasionally deceived goalkeepers and defenders
alike and, on similar lines, often took corners and free kicks. Stop Press:
