The band was formed in 1996 as a Death Metal band. The founders of the band were Edwin Platero (bassist) and Juan Carlos Portillo (vocals). Their name according to them means "toxic devouring entity". They state as influences: Deicide, Benediction, Hypocrisy, Death, and Obituary. TOXOTROFOGO has lyrics that exposes the war mentality developed in El Salvador and issues like contamination, delinquency, crime and poverty.

Some of there song titles are the following: "Deceso" (Deceased), "Entre Sombras" (Among Shadows), "Camino de Muerte" (Path of Death), "Ceol", and "Fosa Externa" (External Common Grave). All the lyrics are in Spanish. This band has not had the opportunity to record their demo yet, but they keep practicing and head banging.
