Welcome to the Danno pages...
Toody from Dead Moon called him "a true renaissance man: musician,
poet, singer, craftsman..."
She could have added "photographer", "small time producer", "free-lance journalist", "graphic designer"
and "mono-minded, garage-obsessed little bastard in general", too.
Eric Geevers, a.k.a. Bietel, hails from Delft (Holland) and
has left some traces here and there in rock'n'roll, playing with Paradogs, the
Ace-Tones (as 'Eric Danno'), Link Protrudi and the Jaymen, the late Link Wray, the Bunny Club, Inneke 23 - plus plenty of others along the way.
Eric is currently playing guitar (and doing a bit of singing) in The X-Ray Men, The Napoleons, and wildmen of garage-surf The Raving Bonkers. He was the bassplayer for Robert Gordon & Chris Spedding on their Summer of 2006 European tour, and July 2007 saw Eric joining the Fuzztones as their bassplayer, on a "one gig at a time" basis. Since March 2008, The Raving Bonkers also operate as The Flying Tygers, adding vocals and a Farfisa to their garage mayhem. With an EP on Tombstone USA released as quickly as April 2008, some way cool gigs and a full album on its way, this band seems to be bound for world domination... or, if not, they're having one hell of a good time - and that sure is contageous!
But first and foremost, Eric is a fan of good music...: "it's
not that what I'm doing is so very original, or brilliant - it's just that
there's not too many people doing it these days, so when I want to hear that kind of stuff
I've got to play it myself, for better or for worse!" |
