Robbie Williams and the Stereophonics are doing a cover of Antmusic for the Disney film, "A Bug's Life" which is due out early next year. The Stereophonics have recorded their parts, and Robbie is due to add his vocals in the next few weeks.
And the good news is... the latest info I have on the boxset is that Sony are keen to get the project 'out of the way' and they are currently having talks to finalise the tracklisting. A release date should be announced by Christmas. This is great news, but there have been many times in the past where the boxset looks like it is about to be released.. so don't get too excited!
I'm sorry to say that the Ant Box is unlikely to be released in March or April. I don't know what the problem is, but as soon as I hear any more, I'll put the news on here. Sony are still keen to release the box set this year.
A new CD, entitled 'Super Hits' is out now in the US. It features the tracks; Desperate But Not Serious; Hello, I Love You; Goody Two Shoes; Vive Le Rock; Stand and Deliver; Scorpios; Dog Eat Dog; Press Darlings; Mohair Locker Room Pin-Up Boys; Antmusic. I am sure you will all agree with me in saying that this is a rather strange combination!
This news is being printed with the permission of Sony. Sony now have the rights to Persuasion, and there is a small possibility that it may be released by them. However, some tracks from Persuasion may be used on the box set. The latest news on the box set is that the track listing has still to be finalised, but Sony are keen to release it around March/April. Here's hoping!
What a way to spend christmas!! That's right, Channel 4 have this year gone for a real festive treat for all the family (yes, I'm being sarcastic!) It isn't the best of films, but it features the Ants performing Plastic Surgery in 1977, and also some pretty cool acting from Adam. Expect to see the transmission date here in the next couple of days!
Adam and the Ants and Siouxsie and the Banshees are both to feature on an episode on the forthcoming series of Rock Family Tree (UK BBC2). Both Adam and Marco have given interviews, and as soon as the transmission date is available it will appear here!
Despite being on the losing team, Adam did pretty well on this comedy quiz show. Out of the four guests, Adam was the one who the presenters, Vic and Bob, refered to most. At one point Adam had a tap attached to his head to 'drain out' any unwanted things! Adam also sang the chorus of Stand and Deliver in the 'club style' and did a great impression of Sean Connery.
The 1997 convention was as good as ever, with guest appearances by Terry Lee Miall and Chris de Niro. In an audio mesage, Adam revealed that 1998 would be a big year for Adam Ant fans. For a full report of the convention click here!
British fans should set their videos for 9:30 on Friday 31st October for Adam's appearance on the comedy-quizshow Shooting Stars!
Terry Lee Miall and two Ant fans, Bridget Williams and Barry Dunn, appeared on the Big Breakfast TV show in the UK today to promote the convention. Bridget revealed that over 600 people were expected to attend the convention, and Barry showed off his tailor-made highwayman outfit! Terry Lee appeared as a 'surprise guest' and revealed that he still keeps in contact with Adam.
Adam appeared at the University of Westminster in Harrow with Dizzy Q Viper. It was for a student TV show - Adam sang two songs, one of which was by Dizzy Q Viper, the other was Wannabe by the Spice Girls. Click here to see a full report with photos!
Adam celebrated 20 years of Antmusic in style last night by performing Beat My Guest with the group "Dweeb" at a club in London. Adam, who was joined on stage by Marco, put in an excellent and energetic performance. Click here to see a full report!
There are rumours going around the Adam Ant discussion list that Adam has got married, or that he is engaged. This site is dedicated to the work of Adam Ant, not his private life. If Adam decides to tell the public what is happening, then I will print what he says. Until then, we must respect his privacy. The only reason I have included this is to make my position clear - so please don't send me any e-mails about this rumour.
The film "Trust Me" starring Adam is to be shown on May 4th on Channel Four in England - it is on at 12:30am, but is listed under May 3rd in the TV listings magazines. This film has always been favourite among fans, so it is worth watching, even if you aren't interested in Adam's acting career.
Ant Box 20 should definately be released this year. After it's been released a new album is expected. I know for a fact that Adam and Marco are working on some songs right now.
Of course, I would rather be discussing singles releases, video shoots, etc...but the word is that Adam is now growing his hair back again after having shaved it off and dyed it blonde. Adam has gone blonde before - for the TV movie "Out of Time". When asked in 1988 whether blondes have more fun, Adam replied, "Not when they have to dye it every day! I'll stay blue/black for now". Therefore it isn't really a surprise that Adam has decided to revert back to his old self, (although he did look pretty neat!).
The final CD to be released on the Sony Rewind series will be available in the UK on Monday 3rd March. Now that all the CBS albums have been re-released ANT BOX 20 will be free to be released. ANT BOX 20 should be available around September - watch this space!
The only news I have at the moment is that the box set "Ant Box 20" should be released sometime this year. Most of you will probably have heard about this through the news service. It will be a bit like a Adam Ant anthology - each album being released with along with previously unreleased songs. The songs "Hired Gun" and "Steve McQueen" which were due to appear on the re-issue of Vive Le Rock should be on one of the disks for example. There is also talk of a video being released. The promo videos have already been released twice, so does this mean that we will get to see previously unreleased footage too? It would be nice to think that some footage from the 70's will be on there! Whatever happened to the video which Adam produced for Malcolm McLaren? Here's hoping...
Anyone who tuned in to see Adam appear on the music quiz show "Never Mind The Buzzcocks" was in for a shock! Adam has had a grade 5 (?) cut, and has dyed what was left blonde! I don't know whether this is for a film or whether it is a change of image. After the initial shock (!) I was actually quite impressed by it. It goes to show that Adam is still a trend setter rather than a trend follower!
If I find a picture of him, I will put it somewhere on my site straight away!
Chris "Merrick" Hughes has just finished working with Gene on their new album "Drawn to the Deep End". The album, released 10th February, already has two successful singles on it - "Fighting Fit" and "We Could Be Kings". The lead singer of Gene, Martin Rossiter, also happens to be a great fan of Adam and the Ants. This has lead to Adam being mentioned many times in interviews with Martin.
