Review written by Dana, who e-mailed me her review. Thanks

Site - The Columbus show was my
second and favorite Lilith Fair. The atmosphere was beautiful, so
many women who felt that they could be themselves without the being
criticized. I loved seeing women with non- model bodies looking
gorgeous in belly-shirts and tank tops. Even the line to the bathroom
(which at Lilith is always a mile long) proved to be a pleasant
experience as women were able to freely chat with each other. I
wonder if men ever get to feel that kind of comfort at a rock
concert. I will miss the politeness and community that is
Lilith.
Sounds - I was extremely happy with
the lineup at this year's show. I originally wanted to see Hole, who
dropped off, but was so blown away by the Indigo Girls's performance
that I forgot about Courtney's absence. They started off playing a
rousing Shame on You and Get Out the Map (a personal favorite) before
playing a couple of songs off the new album. The songs both sounded
appealing, especially one about Fay Tucker that included Celtic
sounds. They went on to play Go and Galileo. The highlight of the
show was a sweet version of Love's Recovery in which Sarah sang along
with Amy and Emily beautifully. That song seemed to stir lots of
emotion in the crowd. A sing a long to Closer to Fine as the finally
released the sadness into the ultimate in joy. An incredible set to
say the least.
The most impressive surprise to me
was Deborah Cox. She had an amazing voice which dominated the final
Al Green song and rocked her performance. She was the first of the
main stage performers and completely blew myself and much of the
crowd away. Her final song was almost impossible not to dance to. I
look forward to purchasing her album soon. After Deborah was the
Pretenders. They played every hit they had and were able to get the
crowd excited.
Sheryl Crow stole the show with a
performance which rocked out with hits like A Change, Winding Road,
Sweet Child of Mine, If it Makes You Happy, Favorite Mistake, Strong
Enough (w/ Sarah), and There Goes the Neighborhood. She is a great
musician with a great voice and increasingly impressive lyrics. If
she was the only performer, the day still would have been worth
it.
Sarah did a great job as always. The
alternative version of Black and White was great and I am always
happy to hear Fumbling. The set and lighting were very beautiful and
created a very peaceful atmosphere. The final song was Angel, in
which Sheryl Crow sang along with and included a cello and violin to
accompany Sarah's piano. It was soulful moment and even Sheryl Crow
paused for a moment of her singing to just look at Sarah. I will
always remember the show and just pray that it will be around if I
have a daughter someday. Thank you to all including artists, crowd,
and vendors who helped to make Columbus's show such a wonderful
memory.
