KERRANG
KOMMENT
Kerrang!
Editor Phil Alexander has just returned from interviewing
the
band in-depth in LA for a forthcoming front cover issue.
Whilst
Phil spent time with the guys they played him some tracks
from
the forthcoming album.
Here's
Phil's take on those tracks:-
'The
Wicker Man'
The
album's opening track and set to be the first single,
'The
Wicker Man' is a high-octane hard rock cruncher which
lays
down the gauntlet in fine style. Think of a cross between
'Aces
High' and '2 Minutes To Midnight' and you're close.
'Ghost
Of The Navigator'
A
classic Maiden epic, '...Navigator' refuses to get bogged
down
in its numerable time changes and is driven by a scything
signature
riff. Bruce delivers a vocal performance of titanic
proportions
which serves as a reminder about how good it is
to
have him back in the harness.
'Brave
New World'
Based
on the Aldous Huxley book of the same name,
'Brave
New World' moves from brooding to bruising in a seamless
Maiden-esque
manner. Anchored by a catchy chorus, it's a
underpinned
by some patented guitar interplay from Messrs
Murray,
Gers and Smith.
'Blood
Brothers'
One
of Maiden's most ambitious tracks, Blood Brothers serves
up
a gloriously uplifting chorus set against a backdrop of
strings.
Stirring stuff, it sits somewhere between Maiden's
'The
Clansman' and Metallica's 'Nothing Else Matters'.
Maiden's
new album is an undoubted return to form. Put simply,
it's
the sound of a band doing what they do best. In fact it's
almost
as if they've taken the last 20 years and distilled
their
finest moments on to one bold, yet reassuringly heavy
album.
Not only do Maiden sound hungry again, they sound like
they're
having a good time.
THE
WICKER MAN IS COMING...

IRON
MAIDEN recently announced the Metal 2000 World Tour, promising to "play
to more people
world-wide
than almost any other tour this year," their recent press release
stated. With a full-blown
production
planned, the onslaught starts at the beginning of June in Europe where
they'll be headlining most of the major festivals and covering nearly every
European country, including most of
Eastern
Europe. In early September they head for football stadiums in South and
Central America
and
then onto the arenas of North America. Japan, Australasia, S.E. Asia and
parts of Africa are
being
planned and negotiations are underway to hopefully take the band to China
and India for the
very
first time. The following are the first announced dates:
June
- 2nd in France at Strasbourg Artefact*, 3rd Holland at Dynamo*, 5th in
Czech Republic at
Prague
Sports Hall, 6th in Slovakia Banska Bystrica Amphitheatre, 7th in Hungary
at Budapest
Petofi
Csarnok*, 9th in Slovenia Izola at Izola Stadium, 10th in Italy at Monza
Metal 2000*, 13th in
St.
Elienne France at Palais Des Spectacles, 14th in Paris, France at Palais
Omnisport De Bercy, 20th in Warsaw, Poland at Tor Stegni Ice Rink, 21st
at Katowice, Poland at Spodek, 23rd in Leipzig,
Germany
at Full Force*, 24th in Belgium at Graspop Metal 2000*. In July - 8th in
Mannheim,
Germany
at Maimarktgelande Metal 2000* and 9th Essen, Germany at Georg Melches
Stadion
Metal
2000*. (* denotes open air festival headlined by Maiden)
Tickets
go on sale soon and details of many more shows, including a major U.K.
show in mid-June,
will
be announced soon as well as the support artists. Keep a daily eye on the
'Tour Dates 2000'
page
at www.ironmaiden.com for info about venues, tickets, tour cities
etc.
The
band, including returned frontman Bruce Dickinson and guitarist Adrian
Smith, along with
bassist
Steve Harris, guitarist Dave Murray, drummer Nicko McBrain and guitarist
Janick Gers are
currently
laying down the final tracks for the new studio album with producer Kevin
Shirley which will
be
released on Columbia/Portrait Records in USA and EMI Records for the rest
of the world early
this
summer.
"Working
with Kevin has been fantastic and the whole band is ecstatic with the recording
process,"
Harris
commented recently.
"Recording
is going very smoothly - but it's too soon to say what the album sounds
like. We are
getting
the three guitars down great and a lot of the parts we're recording live
to capture the attack
the
band has on stage. We've been trying a few new things but the best thing
is that I think we've
got
superb songs and Bruce's vocals are belting."

New Maiden songs are recorded for the new album that will be out on may
2000.
According
to Metal Hammer interview with the band , the songs are all Maiden
style
but sounds great because of the 3 guitars and Bruce .
On
this same interview Bruce claims that they are now bigger and better the
Metallica.
Some
comments were made on Blaze , Harris still thinks Blaze give his best to
the
band and he can't say anything bad on him .
The
band say that are now more united than ever before and can laugh
on the past .
Well
, they also finished their sold out shows on the Ed Hunter game tour and
they
say it was great and very good for them to feel the tension again .

Well
we all know about the plans of Maiden world tour ,
hey
it's going to be a 18 months tour , Fucking Unbelievable !!!
But
I just wanted to add that Bruce is now in Brazil and touring some dates
for his Chemical album .
He
told the fans before that he won't leave his solo career for Maiden and
now he is living it .
Now
I don't know for sure but he said that he is recording his current tour
for a live album .
Also
bruce is planning to release "Tattooed milioner" and "Balls to Picasso"
with some bonus tracks
that
were the B-Sides for "BtP" album ,
like
the song "No Way Out" that is way way Cool! Up The Irons!
In
other news , MegadetH will open for Maiden in their tour in europe and
because they finished
working
on their new album you can hear them sing some new stuff .
Also
Merlin Manson spoke about Maiden and he can possibly give them
some
help (Like they need it).
Yes
people are talking about this , and I hope that in the next millennium
Maiden will RULE again!

Who
said last week everything is bullshit ?
Me?!
No
way punk!
So
we got some really big changes .
Bruce
is back in the band , Adrian will make the guitars sound heavier with a
3 guitar band!
And
they are gonna rock!
There
will be an official announcement on the 25 of FEB. and this press meeting
will be
archived
on the internet for the fans to listen to , more on that when it come to
it .
This
week on VH-1 on the Friday Rock Show , Tommy talked with Adrian on the
phone about the
big
news . Adrian sounds very very happy with what happened and promised a
world tour that
will
kick off at europe .
He
said they will start working on a new Studio album and he says it will
sound WAY
different
from all the others .
I
hope they won't go back to their old maiden style ! It's time for a change
and I think now it'
the
best time to explore themselves .
Bruce
says that he won't leave his own career as a solo artist and will work
on his own stuff too , apart from maiden .
Bruce
is also very angry at CMC (His label) for not promoting his tour and for
selling half of what
he
thought he would .
He
says it's one of the reasons he canceled his tour and one of the main reasons
he is now back
with
THE band .
Ok
, that's all ...
You
can read some of what I found on the ROCKNET
site here .

Well
lately there are a lot of rumors of Maiden ...
Blaze
can't perform , Janick drinks to much and That BRUCE might come back to
maiden .
As
for the Official Maiden site , they said that none of this is true .
Well
I am sorry to say to all those who spreded this rumors - THEY ARE ALL LIES!
Maiden
had few problems on their last tour but still Blaze is ok with them .
In
fact they are working on a new album this days .
Bruce
will go on tour with his new Studio album and Everything will stay the
same .
News

Taken
from HardRadio news section :
As
reported recently, IRON MAIDEN's South American tour was troubled.
To
make things worse (sounds better to us),
sources
say that Maiden is not too happy about their lead singer Blaze Bayley and
that this is probably going to be his last tour with the band. In fact,
on one of the shows, the band played Virtual XI in it's entirety (ohh,
the pain!),
avoiding
a lot of classic songs. There's also talk of Maiden unsuccessfully trying
to persuade
Bruce
Dickinson to come back to the band, although Bruce has told BW&BK in
the past that he would play with the band again - another studio album
is another story, given Dickinson and Harris' varying 'philosophies'.
What
is interesting is that 1999 is the 20th Anniversary of Iron Maiden and
reliable sources say that Bruce will be back and Maiden will tour the globe
- expect a year full of surprises and merchandise! For instant contentment
now, pick up BRUCE DICKINSON's Chemical Wedding opus -
certainly
damn near close to top METAL album of '98!

Here
is a little update about the Box Set .
Well
you can find a picture
of the Box Set here , I must say it look's ..... mmmm...
Well
.... BAD!!!
Some
say that the box was released without Steves permission and because
their
wasn't enough time to fix it or put more color in it .
Any
way , about the tour ...
Maiden
are thinking adding more shows in the U.S and the U.K .
Israel
won't get the chance to see the Virtual TOUR .
We
will have to live on the memories of the X-Factor tour .
News
Date : 16/10/98
Some
angry Maiden fan sent me this on my Icq ... So dont mind the anger in his
writing ,
but
He DOES have a point there!
Here
Goes :
Maiden
are releasing a Box Set of all there new 12 C.D's , with Multimedia in
them .
The
box will be shaped as Eddie's head and will hold the c.d's inside .
The
head will open and the c.d's will be be pulled out .
Additional
c.d will be a c.d with a huge Bio on Maiden , disc-ography , bla bla bla
...
This
sucks , cause they are - RE-RE-RE releasing them self's too many times
only
for
money and nothing else .
Fans
know they should buy it because they are true fans , not knowing that its
all
an
act of pure selfishness from Maiden and EMI .
This
Box will be very limited and not be remade ... so for all the suckers ,
go pay a lot for this shit .
But
for newcomers , its the best way to get to know Maiden ...
Enjoy
.

And
for other news :
Bruce
Dickinson was found jamming
with
Dream Theater last month in Los Angeles. Bruce told London's
Rock
Radio Network: "The band's tour manager, Bill Barclay, used
to
be Adrian Smith's guitar technician in the early days of
Maiden.
So after a few beers together, the keyboard player gave
me
a yell and asked if I wanted to go and do 'Perfect Strangers'
with
them, something we had already done together on a live radio
session.
I've also been working with him on the Alice Cooper
tribute.
So we did Perfect Strangers at the end. And then, of
course,
the band wandered off into 'The Trooper', followed by a
verse
of 'Where Eagles Dare', and one of 'Killers'. So I obliged
and
an enormous amount of fun was had by all." As far as the new
album
'A Chemical Wedding' is concerned, Bruce disclosed that he
has
now recorded 8 or 9 out of 12 lead vocals. The recording is
almost
complete. The album will be release in September on
Brice's
new record label.

Well
you people probably know this one but still maybe some of you dont , so
here goes :
Maiden's
new album is on the way and almost complete - supposedly
around
late November and assumed to be released on February 1998 .
I
don't have any idea who is/are the producers for this one , But what I
do
know
is that Harris will be one of them and why the HELL not , he does a great
job .
I
read that the mixing for the album are right around the corner ,
I
think the mixing will be somewhere in october .
It
seems Bruce Dickinson needs a gimmick for his new album and new
tour
, so hold on to you're pance ... he will join forces with Adrian Smith
for
the tour .
As
all you know , Bruce and Adrian got together wonderfully back there in
their
maiden years, I don't know if Adrian's band will be a worming band or
will
adrian join forces and play for Bruce .
In
the future I hope to know more , meanwhile if someone knows
something
- inform me and the site .
Keep
checking for more news , there are gonn'a be tons of news this next
couple
of months , until all the album
details
will be revealed ... Only the future will tell us what will be - will be
:~ .
Well
I will start this page with some hot news (I hope they are new ,
at
least to me they are new!). If you fan's know something new that has to
