"And here's the host of Card Sharks,

JIM PERRY!"

My requests have finally been answered and I have some NEW information about Jim Perry, from a very reliable source, his daughter Erin. Below is pretty much verbatim what she had to say about her father:

Prior to becoming the presenter of numerous US and Canadian television shows, Jim began his career as a singer, working under the name Jim Dooley. His early career experience included singer with Armed Forces radio during the Korean war and serving as the band singer at Grossingers - where he also got his early hosting "chops". He was then hired to work as "straight man" to comic icon Sid Caesar, appearing in Vegas and in the TV show "As Caesar Sees It." He was also the announcer and audience warm up man for the Joan Rivers TV show and DJ for WABC radio in New York.

He has retired from television, but recently finished writing his second book. His first book, The Sleeper Awakes, One Man's Journey to Self Awareness was published in 1991 by Summit Publishing. The book went into a second printing and Jim donated all the proceeds from the book to charity. (unfortunately the publishing company has since gone out of business, or so I heard some years ago, so the book is difficult to find).

Jim currently lives in Florida with his wife of almost 40 years, former "Ford" model, June. The couple have two children. The eldest, Erin, worked as a production assistant on Card Sharks and went on to Produce "The $100,000 Pyramid" for Bob Stewart Productions and later to serve as Vice President of In-Finn-Ity Productions. She is currently living and working in Europe where she has returned to her first love, music - performing in "Kosmic Blues - The Janis Joplin Tribute" and singing backup for Paul Young and other European music stars.

The youngest, Sean, worked as a production assistant on "Sale of Century". The later worked as an agent at Abrahms, Rubaloff & Lawrence, then went into television development where he served as one of the executives in charge of the new Hollywood Squares with Whoopie Goldberg. He is currently a partner with the top agency Endeavor, where he heads up International packaging.
Jim Perry hosted Card Sharks from 1978 to 1981 and then went on to host $ale of the Century. Before Card Sharks, Perry hosted "It's Your Move," "Definition," "Headline Hunters," "Eye Bet," "The Miss Canada Pagent" among others. He has completely retired from television, his last TV appearance was as host of an infomercial produced by his daughter, Erin.
