HONORARY MEMBER |
Standing 6’8”, with redish-blonde hair, blue eyes, and human skin coloring, with a pair of snow-white wings that tally a wingspan of 18 & 1/2 feet, Steven Edwards is quite an imposing figure. He has slightly pointed ears, a faint line of a browridge that mark his gargoyle heritage, as well as retractable finger talons and toe claws. For all intents, he looks mostly human, folding his wings down and growing his hair long to hide them from others that would not understand him. He usually wears blue jeans, a white t-shirt (split in the back for his wings), a leather bomber jacket, boots, and wide, fedora-style hat. | |

There, he was discovered by a Jovah deputy sheriff named Robert Kendall McNabb. Not realizing that Steven was a Hybrid Gargoyle, he took him back to his family's homestead - called the Tuscerera - , where his wife Susan and his only daughter Sarah made the startling discovery about Steven's true nature. Realizing that the boy would become someone's experiment, they all agreed to keep Steven a secret from the rest of the town, until such time as he could keep his Gargoyle side a secret.
To that end, they kept him at their ranch, fed and clothed him, and also strove to give Steven a Human's education by tutoring him at home. For the rest of his child-hood, Steven grew closer to the McNabbs, eventually accepting them as his surrogate family while never forgetting his real father and mother. Sarah became his best friend, and his staunchest supporter when he decided at age 14 (she was 12 at the time) to begin to go to a public school. He did run into troubles with his Human peers, but he stuck it out and Managed to graduate in the top 20 percent of his class.
After this, he turned his attention to writing - something one of his teachers
in High School showed him he had a talent for - and, with encouragement
from his family, he wrote several stories before he became a published
author when he was only 18. This lead to a fulfilling career as a
seclusive, yet popular author of Fantasy and Science Fiction. It was then
that his agent in New York City demanded that he come out of his "seclusion"
to meet his adoring fans at a book writer's convention.
His foster family encouraged
him to go, and he did so, but only if his appearance at the con was the
only scheduled one planned. However, his plan to only show at the con was
thrown out when he met a few of the members of the Manhattan Clan.
He was so pleased to have finally met another Gargoyle, he changed his plans and extended his stay in Manhattan, partially so he could further promote his books, but really staying to get to know more about the Clan. His agent arranged for him to meet David Xanatos, and through him he met the rest of the Clan.
All would have been good and done, but a series of events revealed Steven’s true nature and he mistakenly took the Clan’s shock at his apperance for non-acceptance, so he fled New York and returned home. He thought that was the last of the Clan he would ever see, but he was later contacted by the Clan, saying that the wanted him to return, not only because he was a gargoyle, but because one of their number, a female named Deliah - had fallen in love with him.
Steven would have another series of adventures - taking him as far as Avalon - before he would return to the Clan, and admit to having fallen just as in love with Deliah as she was with him. He joined the Clan, but he felt that he had to find other gargoyles, so that he could see that there weren’t all alone in this world. This took him into Canada, where his searching revealed a Clan of Canadian gargoyles. He befriended several of their number, eventually earning an “honorary” status as a member of their Clan.
He still lives with the Manhattan Clan, but maintains contact and ties with his honorary Clan so that they can all learn about one another.
