Desilu:
The Story of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz
by Coyne Steven Sanders and Tom Gilbert
Our Price: $12.60
You Save: $1.40 (10%)
Paperback (May 1994)
Recommended! |
At the time this was released, it was revolutionary -- the first major, in-depth work studying Lucille and Desi Arnaz's marriage and lives together (and apart) from 1940 to 1960, and beyond. Researched to the smallest detail and highly informative, this book has everything going for it. Only downsides are that Lucy and Desi's lives prior to 1940 are condensed to the first ten or so pages, and so therefore this is not a complete biography of either. Beyond that, however, this is a must have.

This book was the first major study of a television series, and opened up a whole new world of pop culture books. No Lucy fan's library is without this book!

Lucy: An Illustrated Tribute to Lucille Ball
by Bart Andrews and Thomas J. Watson
Our Price: $13.45
You Save: $1.50 (10%)
Paperback (January 1982)
Recommended! |
A wonderful book, entirely in black-and-white, covering Lucy's career up to 1980. Although it covers her career in television, there are other books (such as the new Lucy Book, 1999, see above) which do a better job on that. The book's real strength is her film career, which it covers with more detail than any other work before or since. Definitely something for the major fan.
