Lucille and Desi Make a Movie
from Family Circle magazine, September 1953 Television audiences who have grown to love the antics of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz in "I Love Lucy" will soon have a chance to see these top-favorite TV stars in a movie. Lucille and Desi have spent part of their summer vacation from television in making a comedy titled "The Long, Long Trailer," their first motion-picture appearance together since 1940. The picture also marks Lucille's return to the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer lot, where she was under contract in her pre-television days, and Desi’s first appearance for that studio since 1942. Our photographer caught the stars on the set during the first days of shooting "The Long, Long Trailer," and this pictures were taken specially for FAMILY CIRCLE. In "The Long, Long Trailer" Lucille and Desi are newlyweds who decide a trailer will make a perfect home because Desi’s job as a construction engineer will take them all over the country. After their wedding they set out in their trailer for a honeymoon that will end in Colorado, where their first new home is to be. Their adventures on the way, as they adapt themselves to trailer-style living, are in the anything-for-a-laugh spirit that’s come to be associated with Lucille and Desi. ![]() ![]() Cover (above right), Long, Long Trailer photo (above left) and original article (below) from Family Circle, September 1953 ![]() Vintage Lucy Articles | Main | swing4243@yahoo.com |
