Death and Life
"Who said there ain't no such thing as reincarnation?"Luke Duke-"Ghost of General Lee
Luke sat quietly on the couch staring at the fire. His eyes were filled with a deep sadness, but he refused to allow himself to cry. He hadn't cried when he found out what had happened, and he hadn't cried at the funeral, so he refused to cry now. It was raining outside, Luke could hear the rain beating steadily against the window. Daisy came into the room, she walked over and stood beside Luke.
"How ya doin' honey?" she asked.
Luke didn't reply, he continued to sit and stare at the fire.
"Luke . . ."" Daisy said softly. She was worried about him. He had became so withdrawn, he seemed to be very depressed.
Luke turned and looked at Daisy. "I'm fine."
"That's good." Daisy said giving a small smile. Then she turned and went into the kitchen to make herself some coffee. "Would you like some coffee?"
     "Yeah." Luke replied nonchalantly.
Daisy made the coffee then went and sat down on the couch beside Luke.
"You still miss him, don't you?" she asked.
"Yeah." Luke replied not looking at her.
"We all miss him. It is not fair that he is gone, but we have to get on with our lives.  You have to accept . . ." she started to say.
"I have accepted it. I have accepted that he is DEAD. So why don't you just get off my case." Luke said.
Luke got up from the couch and went to his room, slamming the door shut behind himself. Daisy flinched at the sound. She got up from the couch and went and knocked on Luke's door. There was no response.
"Luke?" she said as she slowly opened the door.
The room was lit only by a single lamp. Dark, black shades covered the windows blocking out any sunlight. Daisy hated to go into the room, it spooked her, it was eerie. Everything was covered in black sheets. Luke refused to allow them to get rid of any of Bo's things. Daisy knew that no matter what Luke said, he couldn't accept that Bo was dead. It had been so hard on Luke, the boys had always been close, and when Bo died it seemed to kill something in Luke.
Luke was sitting quietly on one of the beds. Daisy went and sat down beside him. She put her arm around his shoulders.
"Oh Luke . . . you gotta let go of this guilt and accept that Bo is dead."
"No. Bo's death is all my fault. If I had been there when I should've he'd still be alive."
"That is not true. If you had been then you might be dead to."
     "Yeah, so?" Luke questioned.
"Don't talk that way." Daisy said. Tears forming in her eyes.
Luke could see his words hurt her, but he refused to apologize because he meant what he said.
Luke couldn't sleep that night, just like every other night since the tragic event that took Bo's life. Luke lay awake staring into the empty blackness that surrounded him and started thinking of those tragic events.
********************
Bo was in Capitol City, he was signing them up for the Tri-County 500, which was in two days. Bo had borrowed a car from Cooter. Luke was suppose meet Bo in Capitol City at 6:00 that afternoon. Luke meant to be there but he never did make it there. He was out with Maryanne and he forgot that he was suppose to be meeting Bo. It was about 9:00 and he went back to the farm house, he wondered why Rosco's car was parked out front of the farm house. He walked into the house. Rosco was standing by the couch Daisy had her head buried against Jesse and was crying. Jesse looked very upset. They all looked at him as he walked in.
"What are you doing here?" Jesse questioned. "You were suppose to be meeting Bo in Capitol three hours ago."
"Oh yeah. I forgot." Luke said. "What's going on?"
"There was an accident . . ." Jesse started to say his voice trailing off.
Luke paled, fearing the worse. "Is Bo . . ." Luke found himself unable to say the word.
"He is in critical condition in the Capitol City hospital we were just going to be leaving." Jesse said.
Luke didn't know what to say he felt that he should've remembered and if he had been there Bo wouldn't have gotten into an accident. He finally managed to find his voice again. "What happened?"
"There was a drunk driver and he ran the red light and broadside the driver's side of the car Bo was driving. The car rolled several times before smashing to a stop against a lamp post." Rosco said.
The Dukes went to the hospital to wait on word about Bo. Several hours passed, it was 1 am but the Dukes were all still wide awake concerned about Bo. Finally a doctor came walking over.
"I am Dr. Mcrayen." he said and shook Jesse's hand.
     "How is doc?" Jesse asked.
The doctor sighed and shook his head. "I am sorry to tell you that he will be dead within a few hours."
     "WHAT!?" Luke questioned, unbelievingly.
"I am terribly sorry we did the best we could but we could not stop the internal bleeding. There was a lot of damage done, and time was lost while he was trapped for thirty minutes in the car." Dr. Mcrayen said.
The Dukes went and say by Bo's bed side, he never did wake up and by 1:30 his heart stopped and he died.
The driver of the other car was not injured he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for drunk driving causing death, with chance of parol after 5 years. The Dukes were outraged at the light sentence given to him, because he was responsible for killing Bo. Luke hated listening to the trial but he remained there he wanted to know. He listened to several eye witness accounts. One of them told about trying to help Bo after the accident. Luke paled as he listened to the person talk and say that Bo had been awake for most the thirty minutes that he had been trapped in the car before they managed to get the metal cut out from around Bo. Luke rushed out the room and to the washroom were he promptly throw up in the toilet. It pained him to think about the suffering that Bo had endured. He was doing fine hearing about the accident until knowing Bo had been awake to feel the pain and to suffer. He couldn't handle the thought of that. He thought it would be easier to think that Bo had not had to suffer at all and he hadn't been awake to feel the pain.
The day of Bo's funeral was overcast, threatening to rain. The weather was like a mirror to the way everyone felt. Luke tried to ignore the funeral refusing to admit it was happening. The casket was closed so Luke tried to convince himself that Bo was not actually in the coffin. But no matter how hard he tried he couldn't the grief and pain of losing Bo filled him. He blamed himself for Bo's death, figuring if he had been there when he was suppose to be Bo wouldn't have been there on that road and wouldn't have got into the accident and would still be alive.
****************
The next day Luke got up before dawn and drove to the cemetery. A thick mist lay heavy over the cemetery. Luke made his way over to Bo's grave. Dawn's light was starting to break over the horizon, but it didn't burn through the mist. There was just enough light for him to read the stone. He stood staring at the stone and felt as though he could almost feel Bo's presence.
"Damn it, I miss you cuz. Why did you have to die? Why did you have to get in that accident? Why did you leave me?" Luke said angrily. He sighed. "It's because of me. It is my fault that you are dead. It is my fault that you were in that accident. My fault that you are gone. I am sorry that I let you down, so very sorry. I'd do anything to get you back. I wish I could change the past."
There was bright flash of red light, to Luke's right that momentarily blinded him. After his eyes readjusted to he looked down at the ground to his right, and saw a scroll. Luke bent over and picked it up. He slowly unrolled the scroll and read it. A smile slowly spread across his face.
"Tonight cousin, I shall make up for my mistake."
Luke put the scroll into the pocket of his jean jacket and walked back to where the car was parked.
Luke drove back to the farm, nobody else was home. Luke went to his bedroom to change his clothes. He put on a pair of black jeans and a black t-shirt. He packed the things that he would need for what he planned on doing tonight. He went back into the kitchen and put some food and a bottle of water into one of the bags. He went outside and put the stuff in the car then went into the barn, and got a shovel. He put the shovel into the trunk then drove to the cabin at still site number four.
Later the day when Jesse and Daisy returned home they found Luke was gone. They wondered where he was. They tried to reach him on the CB to no avail. They thought that maybe he just left to have some time alone, to hep himself deal with the recent tragic events.
At eleven Luke drove the graveyard. He walked to Bo's grave, carrying the shovel and a blanket. He stood for a moment staring at Bo's grave. Luke sighed and looked up at the full moon, then he began to dig up Bo's coffin. Luke slowly lifted the lid to the coffin. Tears burned his eyes when he saw Bo's condition. He picked up Bo's body then wrapped him in the blanket, and carried him to the General. He slid Bo's body in through the passenger window of the car, then went around to the driver's side and got in himself. Luke started the car and drove out to Devil's Peak. An area in Hazzard that people seldom ever went to. There was only a rugged dirt road that lead back to it. It was rumoured that the grounds were evil and haunted. Though nobody believed that, nobody ever went there.
There was a round area that was void of any grass, the soil was a deep black. Luke buried Bo's body. After he finished that Luke took out his pocket and slice the palm of his right hand. He flinched at the pain. He closed his hand into a tight fist, and droplets of blood dripped on the grave. Luke went and sat on the hood of the General waiting for Bo to rise. As he waited he cleaned the cut on his hand and wrapped it in gauze. Then he stared at the grave. About an hour later Bo's hand rose up through the dirt. Luke slid off the hood of the car and went over and helped Bo out of the grave.
Bo coughed to clear his lungs of the dirt. His complexion was pale. He sat on the ground with his head hung down.
"Bo . . . are you okay?" Luke asked, his voice full on concern.
"Cold . . ." Bo said his voice soft and distant sounding.
Luke wrapped the blanket around Bo's shoulders and helped him into the car. Then he drove back to the cabin.
Luke stayed awake most the night, while Bo slept. Early the next morning Bo woke up. He sat up and looked around the cabin.
     "How ya feeling?" Luke asked.
Bo shrugged.
Bo stood up and walked around the cabin. He stopped before the mirror and looked into it. He had a cut that ran down the left side of his face. He brought his hand up and brought it down along the cut. He had a flash of the accident. He could see bright headlights coming straight towards him. He shook his head to clear his thoughts.
"What . . .?" Bo started to question his voice trailing off.
"You were in a bad accident." Luke said calmly. "You didn't make it. I brought you back."
Bo just stared at Luke trying to make sense of what he was saying.
     "Let's go home." Luke said.
Bo didn't say anything he just followed Luke out to the car. They drove to the Duke farm in silence.
They walked into the Duke house. Daisy fainted when she saw Bo walk in. Jesse woke her up, then they all sat down in the front room. Bo was sitting staring blankly out the window, while Luke explained to them what had happened.
"Luke . . . do you really think that was such a good idea? I mean Bo don't seem like himself." Daisy said.
"It'll just take him some time to adjust."
Jesse stayed out of the conversation, he had no idea what to think. He was happy to have Bo back to have him alive, yet Daisy was right there was something different about Bo. Bo didn't seem to be paying any attention to the conversation, his eyes looked distant.
"Yeah but I have never seen Bo so distant and he . . . well he just ain't himself."
Bo stood up and walked out of the room. He went to the bedroom that he and Luke shared. Luke got up and followed him. Bo laid down on his bed and closed his eyes. Luke stood at the bedroom door for a moment, that quietly pulled the door shut and went back out to the front room.
"He just needs more sleep." Luke said as he sat down in the chair.
"Like I was gonna say, they injures maybe healed but the scars haven't." Daisy said.
"So?" Luke asked, there was a note of agitation in his voice.
"So how easy do you think it will be on him, with a constant reminder of what happened."
     "It don't matter."
"It's more then physical scarring that I am worried about it is the emotional scaring. I don't even see how that can be Bo. I mean Bo died from internal bleeding and damage . . ." Daisy started to say but Luke cut her sentence off.
"You two sound like you don't care that he has returned and you'd rather he was still dead in the ground."
     "No." Daisy said.
"That is not true Luke." Jesse said. "But did you ever stop to consider how Bo feels?"
"What do you mean by that?" Luke asked.
"Did you think of what was best for Bo or just what you wanted?"
"What you think Bo wanted to die? I gave him back his life." Luke said his voice angered.
"Is it really his life?" Daisy questioned. "That didn't even seem like Bo, so cold and distant."
"Just give this time, he needs to adjust you'll see." Luke said.
The next couple of days passed slowly. Bo remained withdrawn from everyone and he rarely spoke a single word to anyone. Jesse and Daisy were concerned and still were having trouble dealing with the fact that Bo was alive again. They were happy to have him back, however the person he was now was so different from the Bo they had all known. They also started to grow more concerned for Luke he seemed to be growing depressed when Bo showed no signs of being the same person.
Luke sat out on the porch staring up at the stars, praying that soon Bo would be his old self again. He heard the door open behind him and turned to see who had came out, hoping that it was Bo. However it was Daisy who had came outside, she sat down beside Luke.
     "How ya doing?" she asked.
     "I'm fine." Luke replied.
Daisy didn't really know what to say to Luke ever since right after the accident Luke had changed. Both sat in silence for a couple moments when the door opened again, this time it was Jesse, he had a worried look in his eyes.
"What's wrong Uncle Jesse?" Daisy asked.
"I just thought Bo would be out here, since he is not in his room." Jesse said.
"He was a couple hours of ago, I haven't seen him since then. I never saw him leave the house either." Luke said, he felt a knot of worry start to tighten in his stomach.
"Wonder where he took off to?" Jesse wondered out loud.
"Yeah, I mean Bo as never left the house since . . ." Daisy stopped herself from finishing the sentence.
Luke remained silent he was trying to think of where Bo could have gone. After a moment of silence Luke stood up.
"I'll take the General and look around to see if I can find him." Luke said.
"I'll go with you." Daisy said.
"You should stay in case he comes back." Luke said.
"I'll stay. You two go find him." Jesse said.
Luke sighed and nodded he had really just wanted to go and look for Bo on his own. They got into the car and sped around to a few of the places that Luke thought Bo could have gone. They searched for about two hours but had no luck. They returned back to the farm, although everyone was concerned about Bo they all eventually went to bed and fell asleep.
It was around four a.m when Luke heard a rustling noise in the room, He sleepily opened his eyes and turned on the lamp, that sat between the two beds. He saw Bo climbing in through the bedroom window.
"Bo . . ." Luke started to say then noticed that Bo's clothes were stained with blood. "What did you do?"
Bo didn't respond he acted like he didn't even hear Luke at all. Luke sat up on the edge of his bed.
"Bo what did you do?" Luke questioned again.
Bo turned and glared at Luke his eyes cold, dark and void of any emotion. Luke felt a shiver go down his spine when he saw the look in Bo's eyes, he didn't know what to say.
"Nothing so just go back to sleep." Bo said.
Luke didn't know what to say he laid back down and closed his eyes and tried to convince himself that it was all a dream.
He woke up the next morning shortly after dawn. Bo was still asleep, the covers pulled tightly over his head. Luke glanced at the floor and saw Bo's blood stained shirt and jeans laying in a pile. Luke sighed and walked out into the kitchen.
Jesse and Daisy were already awake and were sitting at the table, Jesse was reading the paper. He looked up when Luke walked in.
"Bo came home at about four am." Luke said. He decided not to tell them about Bo coming home stained in blood late last night.
"That's good." Jesse said. Then he handed Luke the paper I think you want to read this article, He said pointing to the front page article.
Luke looked at the paper:
Convicted Drunk Driver Killed In His Jail Cell

Early this morning, convicted drunk driver Patrick Donval, was found murder in his jail cell. Three months ago Donval was convicted of drunk driving killing Bo Duke of Hazzard County, this morning Donval was found brutally murdered. Authorities have no leads as to who murdered Donval, nor how they got into his cell. Nor how nobody heard anything while Donval was murder. The warden, David Freton,  says that Donval's cell was locked, and there he has no idea how anyone could've gotten in to Donval's cell. Donval's slain body was found at approximately 3:45 am while Frenton was making his rounds of jail. He discovered Donval's dismembered body. His death is under investigation.

Luke paled when he read the article, he had the feeling that Bo was in some way responsible for what happened. Luke was just going to say something to Jesse and Daisy when Bo walked into the room.  Luke decided not to say anything.
Later Jesse was working out in the field and Daisy had gone to work at the Boar's Nest, only Bo and Luke were home. Luke was working on the General he glanced over at Bo who was sitting on the porch, and decided to try to talk to Bo about last night. Luke walked over and stood at the bottom of the porch.
"Bo . . ." Luke started to say trying to think of what to say, then decided to be straight forward. "Did you kill Donval?"
Bo stood up and walked down the stairs and stood by Luke, then smiled. "Yes I did kill him."
Luke had accepted the answer but it still shocked him. "Why?"
"He deserved to die. You wanted him to die. You wanted him dead for what he stole from you." Bo said.
Luke didn't know how to respond, what Bo said was true he had want Donval to pay for what he did to Bo. "But . . ." Luke was still shocked that Bo could take a person's life. Bo had never been a violent person. He got into fights but killing was something very different.
"Everyone dies sometime Lukas." Bo said flatly. "Some just sooner then others."
Luke still was shocked he just looked at Bo not knowing what else to say.
"If I were you I wouldn't worry about the death of someone who meant nothing, I'd be more worried about the lives of people I actually care about." Bo said, and smiled an evil smile.
     "What?" Luke asked.
Bo didn't respond he just walked away from Luke.
Jesse was out working in the field he didn't even hear Bo approach, he stopped plowing when he felt a shadow fall across him.
"Bo . . ." Jesse started to say.
Bo just glared at him, then smiled darkly.
"Is there something wrong?" Jesse asked.
Bo shook his head. "No nothing that can't be taken care of."
"What are you talking about Bo?" Jesse asked.
"You don't get it do you old man. I may have possession of "Bo's" body but I am far from being him." Bo said.
"What . . ." Jesse started to say then found he couldn't find the words.
"It is simple Bo is dead he died in that accident." Bo said, his eyes flashed red and smiled evilly at Jesse. "Now you to will be dead."
Jesse didn't know what to say, he couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"I'll tell you this much old man you don't have to worry your death will be less painful then Bo's was and your soul won't be tormented after you are dead." Bo said smiling evilly.
Jesse glared hatefully at the demon. "If you claim not to be him then why do you know how he feels?"
"I can feel the pain he went through before he died. I know the torment his soul his being put through now. Of course Luke is to thank for that, so desperate to have his cousin back, he'd do anything. Little did he know tying to "save" his cousin would actually only cause him torment." Bo said.
Jesse remanded silent wishing he was asleep right now and this was only a dream, knowing it wasn't. Bo reached out and touched the side of Jesse's face.
"You can know his pain as well." Bo said darkly.
Luke had decided to go and talk to Jesse about what was happening. He paled when he reached the flied and saw Jesse laying on the ground. Luke rushed over to him dropping down by his side. He checked quickly for a pulse. There was one, but it was weak. Luke took him to the hospital.
While he waited on word on Jesse's condition he called Daisy at the Boar's Nest. She arrived there just as the doctor came to tell them what was wrong with Jesse.
"I am Dr. Cainel." he said as he shook each Luke and Daisy's hand.
"What is wrong with him?" Luke asked.
"We are not sure. His heart seemed to have suffered some traumatic shock, but we are not sure as to why yet. He has not yet woken up." Dr. Cainel said.
Luke and Daisy sat with Jesse until visiting hours were over, they figured there was nothing they could do so they returned to the farm. Luke didn't tell Daisy about his talk with Bo, figuring that would only upset her more. When they got to the farm Bo wasn't there. Luke laid awake until around two am before drifting into a restless sleep and started to dream.

*****************
Blackness surrounded him. He felt completely alone, the darkness gave into a thick mist and Luke could still barely see anything. He saw one thing before him Bo's grave.
"It's my fault." Luke said staring at the gravestone.
"No it's not." Bo said from behind him.
Luke turned around and saw Bo standing there, looking just like he had before the accident.
"I should've been there." Luke said.
"So? That doesn't make it your fault." Bo said.
     "Yes it does." Luke said.
"No you weren't driving that other car it ain't your fault." Bo said.
Luke looked away. "But . . ."
"Luke it ain't your fault. You can't blame yourself." Bo said.
     "Why not?" Luke asked.
"Because I said so. I don't want you to spend the rest of your life blaming yourself for something that isn't your fault." Bo said.
Luke looked at Bo, a puzzled look came across his face. "But you ain't dead no more I . . ." Luke said his words trailing off.
Bo shook his head. "Listen cousin, that ain't really me that you brought back. You can not bring a dead person back to life."
"That is a lie." Luke said angrily.
"No it ain't. You know I'd never lie to you. That is merely a demon that is using my body. It is not in anyway me." Bo said.
Luke shook his head not wanting to hear what Bo was saying.
"Luke it is the truth, think about you know it is the truth." Bo said and put a hand on Luke's shoulder.
Luke looked up into's Bo's eyes, he knew it was the truth. "If that is just a demon then where are you?" Luke asked.
"I have crossed over to the otherside." Bo said.
Luke bit back the tears that burned in his eyes. "I miss you."
Bo smiled softly. "I miss you too. But you know in a way I will always be there for you."
Luke nodded understanding what Bo meant by that.
"You have to kill the demon before it kills anyone else." Bo said.
     "I . . . I don't know if I can." Luke said.
"You have to." Bo said firmly. "If you don't innocent people will die."
Luke nodded. "Okay."
Luke felt a couple tears slid down his cheeks. "Bo . . ."
"Don't worry Luke everything is going to be okay." Bo said softly.
Luke then gave Bo a brotherly hug.
************
Luke woke up. He glanced over at the empty bed and sighed softly, dawn's early light was just starting to shine through the window. Luke got out of the bed an walked out into the kitchen. He sat drinking a cup of coffee a few minutes later Daisy woke up, she sat down at the table next to Luke. Luke thought about telling Daisy about his dream then figured that she would not understand.
Later that morning, Luke went out to feed the animals after Daisy went to work. It was a grey day and the clouds threatened to rain. Luke looked up when he heard someone approaching and saw Bo standing a few feet away. Luke didn't know what to do and just stood staring at Bo.
"What's the matter Luke? Cat got your tongue?" Bo said.
Luke didn't know what to say. He remembered what Bo had said in his dream. He thought about trying to kill the demon but feared it was not true and just a dream, and he would really be killing Bo.
"So you think you know the truth." Bo said.
     "Yeah." Luke said.
"It is not the whole truth. If you do kill me you sentence your cousin to an eternity of torture." Bo said. "Of course you don't care."
"That is not true." Luke said.
"Yes it is. You know it your fault he died. Then you tried to bring him back. All you did was give me form and cause your cousin's soul suffering." Bo said as he approached Luke.
"That is not true." Luke said.
"Yes it is. I know your cousin talked to you in a dream, and told you otherwise. Well he lied trying to ease your troubled mind. What did you think he'd say that you caused him all the suffering." Bo said and laughed. "You are a fool."
"You are the liar." Luke said.
Bo didn't respond he just walked towards Luke. "No I can make you see the truth. Just like I made the old man see the truth."
Luke glared at Bo.
Bo smiled darkly. "You can feel your cousin's pain." He said placing a hand against he side of Luke's face.
Luke felt a hot searing pain shot through his entire body. He pulled away from Bo's touch. He stood staring at Bo, gasping for air.
Bo smiled. "Can't handle a little pain? You haven't even suffered as much as your cousin did before he died in that accident."
     "SHUT UP!" Luke yelled.
"It is the truth. I know all the pain he suffered before he died. What he went through before death's cold hand closed around his heart." Bo said.
"I said shut up." Luke said.
"Or what? You'll kill me?" Bo questioned. "If you kill me you kill your cousin."
Luke ignored what Bo said and lunged at him. He tackled him to the ground. They both got up to their feet. They fought for several moments. Bo flung Luke to the ground then went to charge at him. Luke grabbed the shovel and hit Bo in the knee. Bo fell to the ground. Luke stood up and stood over Bo, preparing to finish the demon off.
"Luke . . . look at me. You can't kill your own cousin, can you?" Bo questioned.
Luke didn't say nothing, his body was trembling, as he looked down at Bo he felt less and less that he could actually take his life. He tried to ignore the feeling remembering his dream.
"You will be killing your cousin if you kill me. Part of him is still in me." Bo said harshly, then his voice became soft. "Luke . . . please don't kill me."
"Bo . . ." Luke's voice trailed off, he believed the demon that if he killed it, Bo would also die.
Luke then could feel Bo's presence and heard him talk. " You have to kill him Luke. That is not me, it is just the demon. You can not let him win."
Luke nodded, then hit "Bo" across the head with the shovel, killing the demon. Luke felt tears in his eyes he tried to hold them back but they still slid down his cheeks. He dropped to his knees beside Bo's dead body. Luke's heart filled with sorrow he felt as though he had just killed Bo.
Bo's spirit then appeared and knelt down beside Luke, putting his arm around his shoulder's.
"It's okay Luke." Bo said softly to comfort his cousin.
Luke leaned against Bo. "I am sorry Bo."
"You have nothing to be sorry for." Bo said.
Luke was silent for a moment as he tried to stop the tears. "I . . . I want you to know that I always thought of you more as a brother even though I never expressed how I felt when you were still . . . alive. I just never knew how to say it I couldn't express myself like you could. I never meant for anything to happen to you I would do anything to change that."
"I know that Luke. You can't change what is in the past, what happened has happened. You just have to get on with your life." Bo said.
"I don't think I can. I mean . . ." Luke said, his voice trailed off as he realized he didn't know what to say.
"I want you to just get on with your life stop blaming yourself. I know you never listen to me, but this time promise me that you will listen to what I tell you." Bo said.
Luke looked at Bo and smiled. "Okay cuz, you win I'll listen to ya this time."
Bo smiled. "Don't worry everything will be okay."
Bo slowly faded out of view, just as Daisy came pulling up to the farm. She rushed over when she saw Luke sitting on the ground by Bo's body.
"Luke . . . what happened?" Daisy asked, then she saw all the blood and gasped.
"It's okay Daisy." Luke said standing up and gently pulling her into a hug. "I'll explain everything to you."
Luke told Daisy everything that had happened, including seeing Bo's spirit. Luke carried Bo's body in the barn, Luke figured he would rebury Bo late that night. Luke gently laid Bo's body down. He looked at Bo and shivered as he looked into Bo's dead eyes. It was the one thing that always bothered him about seeing a person who had just died, their eyes were open. He gently bent down by Bo and closed his eyes, then covered his body with an old blanket.
Luke and Daisy went to visit Uncle Jesse at the hospital, he had woken up, but the doctor wanted him to stay the night for observation. Luke said he knew what happened and they could talk about it when he got home, figuring this was not the place to discuss it because they could be overheard.
At around three am Luke drove the General to the graveyard, he carried Bo to his grave and reburied him. He stood silently by the grave for a few moments. Tears burned his eyes, this time he didn't even try to hold them back he allowed himself to cry about Bo's death.
"Good bye brother." Luke said softly then turned and walked away from the grave.
Months passed, Luke kept his promise and listened to what Bo had said and got on with his life the best he could. Not a day passed that he didn't miss Bo. He still left as though a big part of his life was missing, he knew nothing could fill that void, nobody could ever replace Bo's place in his heart. About a year later Luke took a job in California with the forestry service as a smoke jumper. Being away from Hazzard helped some, he didn't have the same constant reminder of Bo's death in everything that surrounded him, like in Hazzard. Two years later Luke married a girl that he worked with, Erica, just under a year later they had their first child, a son.
From the moment Luke saw him he remind him so much of Bo, he had blonde hair and deep blue eyes. They named their son after Bo, Erica understood why Luke wanted to do that he had told her all about him. As Luke's son grew even older, he seemed even more like Bo. He had the same friendly easy going personalty and same hot temper that Bo had. Luke sat watching his son play in the backyard or their home and smiled. He felt as though he had Bo back. His son then came inside and smiled at him.
"Thanks for listening to at least one thing I told you."
     "What?" Luke questioned.
     "I didn't say nothing dad."
"Oh." Luke said, although he knew what he had heard.
Luke then understood most of the truth, he was right that his son was a lot like his cousin Bo, more then just in the way he was. Luke thought it was as though a small part of Bo had been reborn in his son. Luke was mostly right, his son was in fact he was Bo's reincarnation, he remembered his past life, except for the accident that killed him.
