It was a cold and rainy day in Hazzard County. The crops were in and things had been going good for the Dukes lately.  Bo and Luke hadn't been in trouble with the law for a couple weeks, and just last week had won the dirt track circuit over in Greenville. he boys dropped Daisy off at work, because her jeep was in at Cooter's for repairs. Then they went back to he farm. Bo parked the General in the barn, so he'd be out of the rain, then they went inside,
     "I can't believe that it's got so cold, the past couple days, it's freezing in here." Bo said.
     "Yeah." Luke said in agreement.
    The phone rand and Luke answered it. It was Jesse calling, he was off visiting Aunt Kay in Placid County. While Luke was talking to him Bo started a fire in the fireplace. After that Bo talked to him on the phone for a couple minutes. Jesse said he'd be back home in a day or two, and told them to stay out of trouble. The boys sat working on a old broken CB, Luke was trying to teach Bo more about electronics. A few hours later the rain stopped. Daisy called that she was done work, so they went and picked her up. The boys helped Daisy make dinner, then they all sat down to eat. Bo went to take a biscuit, and Luke gave him a look of wait, Daisy smiled and tried to keep from laughing, Bo pulled his hand back. They said grace then ate dinner.
     Late that night while the town of Hazzard slept, the bank was robbed. The identity of the bank robbers was concealed by the darkness. They moved quickly, easily breaking through the lock on the vault. They stole all the money and sped off out of Hazzard.
     The next morning when Boss Hogg discovered the bank had been robbed, he figured that the Duke boys had done it. He sent Rosco to the Duke farm to arrest Bo and Luke.
     The Dukes were sitting at the kitchen table eating breakfast when, Rosco came pulling up his serins blaring.
Daisy got up and looked out the small kitchen window. "It's Rosco. What's he doing here?"
     "I got no idea. We can't be in trouble this early, can we?" Bo said and laughed.
     "Looks like we can." Luke said.
Rosco came rushing into the house. "Alright don't you boys move you're under arrest."
     "Under arrest. For what?" Luke asked.
     "For robbing Boss's bank, that's what." Rosco said.
     "What? We didn't rob no bank." Bo said.
     "Oh tiddly. Now come along you're under arrest. I'm gonna cuff ya and stuff ya." Rosco said moving towards the boys.
Daisy stuck her foot out and tripped Rosco as he went past her. The boys ran out of the house and jumped into the General Lee and took off, in a cloud of dust.
     Rosco got up and ran outside and got into his car began to chase after them, and grabbed his CB. "This is sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane, calling his lil fat buddy, you got your ears on Boss?"
     "Yeah I got my ears on. You got them bank robbing Dukes yet?" Boss asked, as he ate his breakfast of raw liver and coffee.
     "Well that's a negatory lil fat buddy. See they done got away, I'm in hot pursuit right now." Rosco said.
     "Well you get them Dukes, and all that money they stole." Boss said.
     "You got Boss, I'll catch them boys and cuff em and stuff em. Over and out." Rosco said.
Bo and Luke heard the entire conversation over their CB.
     "Sounds like they really think we took that money, and they ain't setting us up." Bo said.
     "Yeah that might maybe. But let's not stop and ask him, just lose him." Luke said.
     "You got it cuz. One lost Rosco coming up." Bo said and laughed. He glanced into the rearview mirror to see how close Rosco was.
Bo turned on the Ridge Runners road, with Rosco following close behind, so Bo cut across the countryside to try to lose Rosco. He headed towards Hazzard Pond. Bo shifted gears as they neared the pond. "Hold on cousin." he said then jumped the pond landing on the other side.
    Bo stopped and him and Luke looked back to see how Rosco was making out. Rosco attempted to jump the pond but failed to do so. He landed in the middle of the pond with an enormous splash. Bo and Luke both laughed as they saw a soaking wet Rosco climb out the drivers window of the car.
     "Looks like he's okay." Luke said.
     "Yeah nothing a warm towel won't fix." Bo said.
     "Well lets get out of here." Luke said.
     "You got it." Bo said, then sped off away from the pond.
Luke went to grab the CB to call Daisy and tell her what was happening when they heard Boss and Rosco on the CB.
     "Well Boss bad new, bad news. Them Duke boys done got away." Rosco said.
     "You imbecile you let them bank robbing Dukes get away." Boss said angrily. "That does it I'm calling in reinforcements."
     "Reinforcements, Boss?" Rosco asked.
     "Yeah reinforcements. I'm calling in Sheriff Little from over in Chickasaw." Boss said.
The boys looked at each other worriedly, when they heard that.
     "Oh great just what we need Sheriff Little." Bo said sarcastically.
     "Yeah. We'd better call Daisy and Cooter, and get them to help us outta this mess." Luke said and turned the CB to channel 22. "This here's the Lost Sheep calling Bopeep and Crazy C. Do y'all got your ears on?"
     "This is Bopeep, what's up boys?"
     "Crazy C coming back at ya, what's hay boys?"
     "We got us a real problem. Could y'all meet us at old still site number four?" Luke said.
     "You got it boys." Daisy said.
     "I'll be there in two shakes of a hounds tail." Cooter said.
They all sped off towards still site number four. Bo was sitting on the hood oh the General when Daisy and Cooter got there. Cooter had just dropped Daisy's jeep at the farm when they had got the boys call.
     "Hey. What kinda trouble you boys in this time?" Cooter asked.
     "Boss is saying we robbed his bank." Luke said.
     "And now he's calling in Sheriff Little." Bo added.
     "How are you planning on getting out of this?" Daisy asked.
     "Well we are planning to search the county for any clues as to who really did rob the bank." Luke said.
     "Are you sure Boss didn't rob it for the insurance money?" Cooter asked.
     "Yeah he's done that before." Daisy said.
     "Yeah well he sounded to upset about it when he was talking to Rosco on the CB. Like he didn't know where the money was." Bo said.
     "The sooner we get to the bottom of this the better." Luke said. "Cooter do you got a spare car I could borrow to search with?"
     "Sure thing Lukas. I'll give ya a lift to the garage." Cooter said.
     "Well I gotta go back to the farm for a minute then I'll go search the Oakamondy Indian caves." Daisy said.
     "I'm gonna search Bronson's Canyon." Bo said.
     "Once I get the other car I'll check out around Rainbow Canyon." Luke said.
     "And I'll check out all the cabins at Ochhee Lake." Cooter said.
    They all took off to look for clues. Jesse was just arriving home when Daisy pulled in, she told him what was going on.
     "Well I'll go talk to JD, to be sure he ain't trying to set the boys up." Jesse said with a hint of anger in his voice.
     "Okay. We're all out looking over the county to see what we can find to clear the boys. Luke is in a loner from Cooter." Daisy said.
They took off to help the boys.
     In a cabin about ten minutes away from Rainbow Canyon the people who robbed the bank were hiding out. On the wall was a newspaper clipping, with a picture of Bo and Luke, it was taken after last weeks race. Somebody had circled Luke's face with a red marker.
     "Well I think it is about time that we went and got our guest." said a very cold unfriendly female voice.
     Luke was out by Rainbow Canyon, at Pine road turn off, when he saw an unfamiliar green sedan. He didn't notice the people moving around in the bushes. He grabbed the CB. "Hey this here's Luke any the rest the searching part got their ears on?"
     "Yeah cuz, what you got?" Bo asked.
     "Well I'm out here at Rainbow Canyon, by Pine road, and I think I just found what we are looking for." Luke said.
     "I'll be there in like five minutes." Bo said.
     "This here is Crazy C. I'll meet the both of ya there in about ten minutes, catch ya boys on the flip side." Cooter said.
     Bo started off towards Rainbow Canyon when he heard sirens coming up behind him. He looked into the rearview mirror and saw Little approaching quickly. "Dang it." Bo said and slammed the steering wheel with his hand. Bo cut on to Cottommill Road with Sheriff Little sticking close behind in his souped up patrol car. Bo cut across the countryside, and took the car on to two wheels, and squeezed between two trees. Sheriff Little tried to follow but got stuck between the trees. A few down the road the General dropped back onto all fours wheels. Bo looked back and saw Little was stuck, he laughed, then sped off towards Rainbow Canyon.
     Luke had decided to get a closer look. He saw nobody around, and went to check out the car. Someone came out from a bush and grabbed Luke from behind, and slipped a chloroform soaked cloth over his mouth and nose. He struggled, but the person's hold tightened. Luke could feel everything grow fuzzy and start to become dark. He kept trying to break out of the person's hold but his efforts were futile. Darkness closed in on his mind and he fell into unconsciousness. Another man came out of the bushes. They put Luke into the back of the sedan.  One of them got a box out the trunk, then went and hot wired the car Luke was driving and out it on the cliff over looking the canyon. The other man moved the sedan into the bushes. The guy opened the box, and took out a plaid shirt that looked just like Luke's and a mannequin arm, he tied it in, so just the elbow was sticking out, so it looked like Luke was in the car. The he started the car to roll down the hill and ran and got into the Sedan and they sped off.
     Meanwhile Bo just got there and parked the General, Cooter arrived at the same time.
     "Thought you'd be here already." Cooter said.
     "Well I had to lose sheriff Little." Bo said.
Then they spotted the car rolling towards the cliff, and the plaid shirt sticking out.
     "LUKE!" Bo yelled and ran towards the cliff. But the car went over. "NO!" Bo yelled and dropped to his knees.
Cooter ran over and stood behind Bo, and put a hand on his shoulder. Through tear filled eyes Bo noticed a ring laying in the dirt, and picked it up, he knew it was Luke's. He clenched the ring tightly in his fist, and bite back the tears. He slowly stood up and walked to the edge of the cliff. He looked down, he could see the fiery ruins of the car. The edge started to give away, and Cooter pulled Bo back.
     "Cooter let me go. I gotta get down there. Luke's down there." Bo said trying to pull away from Cooter, tears filled his eyes.
     "Bo its over . . .Luke is gone." Cooter said his voice filled with sadness.
     "No! He is not . . .He can't be gone." Bo said tears starting to streak his cheeks.
     "Bo I know its hard to accept, but Luke is gone. You know that there is no way he could've made it through that." Cooter said.
Bo looked down at the fiery wreckage of the car. He knew that Cooter was right, he knew there was no way Luke could've made it through that accident. Bo wanted to just stand there and watch till the fire died, but Cooter led him over to his tow truck. Bo sat quietly on the front seat, clenching Luke's ring in his right hand, tears streamed down his cheeks. Cooter hooked the General to the tow truck, then got into the truck. He looked over at Bo who sat staring out the side window, he had no idea what to say to him. He picked up the CB.
     "This is Cooter, any Dukes got their ears?" Cooter asked.
 Daisy and Jesse were both in town and were standing over by Dixie. Daisy grabbed the CB when they heard the call. "You got two Dukes here. What's up?"
     "I can't tell ya over the CB. Why don't y'all meet me at your farm." Cooter said.
     "Yeah sure." Daisy said wondering what was wrong.
     Daisy and Jesse arrived at the farm first, Cooter and Bo arrived moments later. Cooter went into the house first. Bo followed him in, he was still holding Luke's ring, he stared down at the floor, tears filled his eyes, he sat quietly down at the table. Jesse and Daisy could both tell that there was something terribly wrong.
     "What's wrong sugar?" Daisy asked concernedly.
Bo didn't respond he didn't even look up, he tried to bite back the tears that were filling his eyes.
Cooter sat down at the table and took a deep breath. "I'm afraid I got some bad news for y'all . . . it's about Luke . . . there ain't no really easy way to tell ya this . . . Luke was in an accident . . . out at Rainbow Canyon . . ." Cooter said his voice trailing off.
     "What? Is he . . .okay, is he . . ." Daisy asked tears coming to her eyes.
Cooter shook his head. "I hate to have to tell ya this but . . .he's gone." Cooter said.
     "Are you sure?" Daisy asked not really wanting to hear the answer, because she already knew what it would be.
Cooter nodded and then told them all about the accident. Cooter decided that he was going to go back into town and that they just needed to be with family right now. Daisy followed Cooter out, she wanted to thank him for bringing Bo home and telling them about the accident.
 Jesse went over and put and arm around Bo. "It's going to be okay." he said softly, although his own voice was filled with sadness.
Bo had been trying to hold back the tears, but once again the started to streak his cheeks. He put an arm around Jesse and leaned his head against him. "I just can't believe that Luke is . . . gone. It's not fair. Why did Luke have to die? It's just not fair. If . . .if I had got there just a couple minutes sooner Luke would still be alive . . .it's all my fault." Bo said his voice slightly trembled with sadness, tears flowed down his cheeks.
     "It's not your fault Bo. It is not for us to decide when a person's time here is over. Everything is going to be okay." Jesse said, holding back his own tears.
     "No it ain't going to be okay." Bo said angrily, then his tears started to flow hard, he went to say something else but couldn't get it out through the tears, he just buried his head against Jesse.
Jesse hugged. "Oh Bo." he said softly." He was worried about Bo, he knew this was very hard on Bo, Bo had always been so emotional. He just hoped that Bo would be able to make it through all this. He knew that he would have to remain strong for both Bo and Daisy so that they could get through this.
     Luke slowly woke up. He was tied to chair. He opened his slowly and looked around, but his vision was blurry and his head was throbbing.
     "Well hello. How nice of you to join us." a female voice said.
Luke thought he recognised the voice but couldn't place it, he looked in the direction he heard the voice come from, but his vision was still so blurry that he couldn't make out who it was.
     "It appears you are still feeling the effects of the chloroform. You remember me don't you?" she asked.
Luke sat thinking for a moment then he was able to place the voice. "Miss Pricard. I thought you was in jail." Luke said his voice sounding very groggy.
     "I was. But I had enough money to get out." Linda Sue said.
     "Why are you back in Hazzard?" Luke asked his head was still throbbing.
     "Two reasons." she said and went to touch Luke's cheek but he pulled away from her touch. "First reason is I need money. So I am going to rob the precious metal shipment that will be passing through here. And my second reason is to get back at you Dukes."
     "What do you mean by that?" Luke asked.
     "You ruined all my plans, and made me lose all my money is what I mean." Linda Sue said.
     "Well you ain't gonna get away with it." Luke said as he tried to get out of the ropes, but his efforts were futile.
     "Oh just who is going to stop me? Your family? They are all rather preoccupied." Linda Sue said then smiled.
Luke started to worry that she had done something to them. "What do you mean?" he asked there was a touch of agitation in his voice.
Linda Sue just laughed and tossed her hair back. "Cause they all to upset over your death."
     "What are you talking about?" Luke asked.
     "Your car went off the cliff and they all think you were in it." Linda Sue said.
Luke didn't know what to respond his head was throbbing so hard he found it hard to think straight he could feel sleep trying to take back over. He knew that he had to get out and stop the robbery and to let his family know that he wasn't dead. He tried to fight sleep off but to no avail he feel back into a deep sleep.
     The money that had been stolen was recovered. Boss decided it wasn't the Duke boys that had robbed him after all, so him and Rosco went out to the Duke farm to tell them that charges against the boys were dropped. They had not yet heard that Luke had been killed.
    The Dukes were sitting at the table when they heard a car pull up outside. Jesse glanced out the small kitchen window and saw it was Boss Hogg and Rosco. He decide to go outside to ask them what they wanted, just in case they were still trying to accuse Bo and Luke of robbing the bank, and to tell them Luke had been killed. He figured if they came inside and were saying the boys robbed the bank that it would greatly upset Bo, because it was those false accusations that had them out there trying to clear themselves.
     Daisy and Bo stayed sitting at the table. Bo sat looking at Luke's ring which he was rolling around in his hand, tears filled his eyes. The ring rolled out of his hand and on to the floor. Bo got down on to the floor and began to frantically search for the ring. Daisy went over to try to calm Bo down, she knelt down on the floor by him.
     "Bo, sugar, it's okay, just settle down." Daisy said her voice soft.
     "I . . . I've got to find his ring." Bo said tears starting to streak his cheeks.
     "Oh Bo." Daisy said placing a hand on his shoulder but he pulled away from her. "Its okay. Don't worry about it. Just calm down."
     "You don't even care . . .you don't even care that Luke is dead." Bo said.
     "That's not true." Daisy said and slapped Bo across the face.
Bo stopped looking for the ring and sat stunned, tears streaked down his face. "Daisy I . . .I'm sorry. I didn't mean it. I know that you care. I just . . . it's . . ." Bo started to say his voice trembling, then trailed off.
     "Its okay Bo. I know. I didn't mean to hit you." Daisy said then hugged Bo, tears were streaking her cheeks.
Bo put his arms around her and hugged her back for a couple moments. Jesse came back inside.
     "Is everything okay?" Jesse asked worriedly, when he saw them sitting on floor.
     "Yeah considering . . ." Bo said then stopped he didn't want to say it.
    Jesse told them why Boss and Rosco had come out to the farm. Daisy gave Bo another hugged, then kissed him on the forehead, and stood up. Bo saw Luke's ring and picked it up, he held it tight in his hand. He stood up and then slid Luke's ring into his pocket.
    Bo bit back the tears that filled his eyes and took a deep breath. "I'm going out to see if I can find that green sedan."
     "I don't think that's such a good idea. I told Rosco about them, the law is out looking for them." Jesse said.
     "Rosco won't ever find them. I'm not about to sit around here while the people who killed Luke are running free." Bo said then left the house, Daisy and Jesse followed him out of the house close behind.
     "Bo you stop right there. That is an order. Do you hear me? I am not about to let you go out seeking vigilante justice. Let the law handle it." Jesse said sternly.
     "No sir. I ain't never disobeyed you before but this is one order I can't obey." Bo said then slid into the General.
Daisy wanted to go with Bo but said nothing. She knew Bo wouldn't let her go with him, and that it would upset uncle Jesse if she did. Jesse wasn't upset about Bo going after the bad guys, he was more worried that something would happen to him, and he would get hurt or worse yet that he to would get killed.
     A few miles down the road Bo stopped, he clenched the steering wheel and looked over at the empty passenger seat. A feeling of complete aloneness swept over him, he could never remember feeling that alone. A single tear rolled down his cheek. He spoke in a voice barely above a whisper. "Luke why did you have to die? I already miss you so much. I'm gonna get the people who did this. I promise I'm not gonna let them get away with killing you, I promise." Bo clenched the steering wheel tighter. "It's not fair . . . it's just not fair. I am so sorry it's all my fault. I should been there sooner. I am so sorry cousin." Bo bite back the tears that were filling his eyes. He loosened his hold on the steering wheel then sped off down the road.
     Luke started to wake up again. His throat was parched. This time his vision was clear he saw that he was in a small cabin, he saw Linda Sue sitting in a chair a few feet away. Her flunkies had gone out to rob the shipment. She noticed Luke was awake, and smiled and went over with a glass of water.
     "Here I imagine you are quite thirsty." she said then held the glass to Luke's lips.
Luke drank the water, his throat started to feel better. She set the glass down on the floor.
     "You know once I get that shipment I will be rich. You could share in that wealth, if you just join me." Linda Sue said slipping and arm around Luke's neck.
     "Why would I want to do that?" Luke asked, trying to get out of her hold.
     "Cause you got to choices. You can join me and be rich. Or you can be killed, like everyone already thinks you are. Cause I am not about to leave behind any witness." she said then held the back of his neck and kissed him on the lips.
Luke pulled away from her. "I'd never join a worthless criminal like you."
     "Fine. It's your funeral then." Lina Sue said and slid her hand down Luke's chest then walked away. She thought to herself that she would offer him one more time though before she had her flunkies kill him.
Luke sat quietly working to get the ropes loose. He wonder if everyone really thought he was dead, he hoped not. He hoped that she was just trying to upset him.
     Meanwhile on highway sixteen her flunkies had robbed the armoured truck carrying the metals, with no problem. They were a few miles away from Rainbow Canyon, when Bo spotted the car, he thought it could be the one Luke had seen. It stopped in front of one of the old cabins, two guys got out. Bo parked the General in the woods, and got out and snuck down towards the cabin. They said something he couldn't hear, then one went inside the cabin. The other started to paint the car for their get away. Bo decided that it was the same car, and thought that there was no better time then now to go teach them a lesson. Bo snuck down behind the guy and tapped him on the shoulder. The guy quickly turned around, and Bo punched him in the stomach, and they started to fight.
     At the same time inside the cabin Luke had got free from the ropes when the other guy came in. Luke tackled him, and with one swift punch knocked the guy out. Linda Sue ran towards the door but Luke grabbed her. He tied both them to a beam in the room, using the ropes he had been tied with. Then headed towards the door.
     Bo had got the upper hand in the fight. He found a tire iron and had to raised to hit the guy with. Luke came out and saw what was happening and grabbed the tire iron from behind.  Bo turned around ready to fight, figuring it was the other baddie. When he saw Luke he dropped the tire iron.
     "Luke you ain't dead." Bo said his voice filled with relief and happiness.
     "No I ain't dead." Luke said smiling and leaning on Bo.
      "I'm glad your okay." Bo said.
     "Come on let's take these guys in." Luke said.
    "Yeah sounds good to me." Bo said then handed Luke his ring.
    "Then you can tell me what all I've missed." Luke said.
    They took all of them into the sheriffs station. Rosco was sitting looking through a stack of papers, Flash barked when they entered, and Rosco then looked up.
     "Oh . . . it's the ghost of Luke Duke," Rosco said.
     "I ain't no ghost Rosco." Luke said.
     "Oh . . . oh goody goody you ain't dead." Rosco said happily.
Linda Sue and her henchmen were locked in a cell downstairs till the state police came to get them.
    Bo and Luke headed back to the farm. Jesse and Daisy had called Cooter to see if he had seen Bo. They were worried because they couldn't raise him on the CB. Cooter went out to the farm. They were all in the kitchen when the boys got back. Bo went into the house first, then Luke followed him in. Everyone was shocked but happy to see that Luke was alive.
Daisy rushed over to Luke and gave him a big hug, and kissed him on the cheek. "I'm so glad you're okay."
Jesse went over and gave him a big hug to the made crawdad bisque. They all celebrated that Luke was alive.
