PLAY THE PERCENTAGES Date Of Run: January 7, 1980- September 12, 1980(Syndicated) Host: Geoff Edwards Announcers: Jay Stewart, Bob Hilton Producer: Ron Greenberg Director: Richard Kline This game was kind of like Family Feud in a way, it was a survey game in which people answered questions and the percentages were calculated out of that and those were the type of questions used on this particular show. During the run of the show, there were two different formats, and they changed the bonus round so many times that I will only tell you about one or two of the bonus rounds for each format. Husband-Wife Format: The two teams were each a married couple and how the game proceeded was that the couples were asked questions and were required to lock in a percentage of what people missed the particular question. Whomever was closest got the points and had a chance to go for the remaining points totaling to 100. You could then challenge the other team to answer if you thought they didn't know or answer yourself to increase your score. 300 points won the game and $300 and you went on to play the bonus game for either $2500 or the jackpot which went up each day from a starting pot of $25,000. In the bonus game I will be describing, players had to give a number which would hopefully come up in the survey questions as a jackpot percentage. If the number was hit on the nose, you won the jackpot. If you got to 100 points, you won $2500. IFFF, however, you hit the answer with 0% response, you were "Out of Business" and the game ended. Solo Format: This format consisted of two individual players. There was a randomizer and three particular categories. Two were of the players' own selection but the 3rd category was always Pot Luck which was a toss-up question. The game consisted of 5 rounds. The categories were "Spun" around each round. Players had to decide the percentage of difficulty from 10-100%. The general range of difficulty players chose is a normal game was around 40-80% difficulty. Correct answers awarded the according number of points so if a player took 60%, he would try for 60 points. 250 points won the game and $500 cash. You then went to play the bonus game which consisted of 6 possible answers to a question Geoff would read. 5 out of the 6 had numbers above 0% but if you hit the one with 0% response, well you know the rest. $1000 won the game and got you Barry and Enright's customary $3000-$5000 prize package. Here are some Pictures, Thanks Matt Kaiser Play the Percentages is a Barry and Enright Production, no challenges to ownership are intended nor implied Take Me Home |
