Lau Yek Chung, smiled as Ding Pang left. In the eveing Ding Pang, collected the girl from the mill and took her to away. He stayed at an old house near a big yellow flower tree. The girl then revealed that her name was, Chun Hor Ching, and began telling Ding Pang about her past, but Ding Pang was clearly not interested.

That evening Chun Hor Ching, was certain that Ding Pang, was a man of his words and a true gentleman. Each day Ding Pang would practise kung fu for eight hours and disappear before returning late at night. Chun Hor Ching usually sat by the big yellow flower tree to wait for Ding Pang to return. During the time that she spent with Ding Pang, she attempted to get close to him. Strangely Ding Pang would walk away every time she got close. With only two days left before the contest, Ding Pang, seemed to be troubled. Chun Hor Ching figured out that Ding Pang must be worried about her, and decided to make him new clothes so he could wear it on the day of the contest. The night before the contest, Ding Pang, ran into Master Gum who had been waiting. Master Gum wanted to avenge the death of Fong Ngo Tin, who had committed succide after Ding Pang defeated him. Ding Pang, defeated Master Gum without using his sword. Master Gum then informed Ding Pang, that he would killed Chun Hor Ching. Ding Pang rushed to save her, and discovered that his house was set on fire.

Many swordsmen blocked him from getting in, including Master Gum. Ding Pang decided to use his sword this time and in an instant, killed all of the swordsmen and Master Gum. By this time the house had burnt to the ground, and Ding Pang rushed around as his heart sunk thinking that Chun Hor Ching was dead. He then found Chun Hor Ching crying in the bush, holding the new clothes that she had made for him. Ding Pang then hugged her tight and promised never to let anyone hurt her again. They made love that night at an old temple. Chun Hor Ching then begged Ding Pang not to attend the duel in the morning. Ding Pang refused and said that fighting and making a name for himself was his life long ambition. Chun Hor Ching then handed Ding Pang, a piece of jade that had belonged to her mother. Ding Pang then informed Chun Hor Ching that nobody had treated him as kind as that before besides his farther. Ding Pang decided to hand Chun Hor Ching the one thing that meant the most to him, his kung fu manual, to demonstrate his true feelings for her.

In the morning Ding Pang took Chun Hor Ching to a special place. It was were he went to mediate before every duel. He went on to explain that as a child he would wait here and watch his farther, who ran a courier business. He respected his farther very much and thought he was a real hero. However one day a band of thieves wanted to rob his farther. But instead of fighting back his farther hid under the cart and begged the thieves to spare him. Lau Yek Chung then anticipated Ding Pang's next move and stood still awaiting for the right moment to strike. At once Ding Pang unleased his Tin Ngo Lau Sing. Lau Yek Chung watched carefully and blocked Ding Pang's strike with his sword. He then used a round house kick to smash Ding Pang to the ground. After being defeated at the hands of Lau Yek Chung, Ding Pang was accused of stealing his kung fu manual. Ding Pang had suffered enough insult for the day and claimed his innocence. He went to reach for the kung fu manual as proof but realised he had given it to Chun Hor Ching. Lau Yek Chung took the all of the kung fu experts into his secret room. In the room was a pillar with the Tin Ngo Lau Sing, kung fu ingraved in it. Now Ding Pang had lost all creditability amongst the kung fu experts. Suddenly Chun Hor Ching appeared accusing Ding Pang of entering the secret room many years ago to copy the kung fu on the pillars.
