How to get The Tribe look
You want to be able to emulate those hairstyles? Keep track of what's in and out for warpaint this season? You've come to the right place.
Or at least you did for Series One! Series Two went mental with hairstles and tattoos changing several times an episode, let alone each week. So at the top of this list is an 'overview' of Tribe trends...
Hair:
If you are female, get plaiting and drag out those hair crimpers. Whatever you do, don't leave hair flat and straight - bouffe it up and curl it, pile it up on your head. Coloured feathers are definitely en vogue - stick them in any way you feel like. Coloured hair extensions are great too - plait thin strands and tie a feather to the end. The only exceptions to these rules are Salene and Trudy who favour the all over colour dye and then hacking randomly with scissors.
Boys lose out a bit here. The most popular look is to punk spike and dye the tips, but if you are a baddy then dreadlocks are the way to go.
Warpaint:
Blues, greens and whites are very ecologically friendly, but it's whatever you like. Stripes are simple and effective but team them with triangular designs to create more interest.
Tattoos:
Definitely not the permanent kind. Maori or celtic only please. Unless you choose to advertise your forthcoming single by inscribing the title on your arm... If you are a Mallrat, don't forget the mysterious pentagram symbol on your hand.
Other:
It's always a good idea to keep some flowers strapped to your arm with ribbon or loosely wund wire (instead of deodorant?!!). Or possibly some spare feathers just in case.
- Bray
Grow a "rat's tail" (very Eighties) very long or get some hair extensions. Plait together with string in about three sections. You can poke a leaf or some feathers in at the top if the whim takes you. Wear combat trousers and a big stripy woollen poncho or a blanket. Obligatory to carry a skateboard and spend your life climbing through manhole covers.
- Trudy
Have a bob style then cut your fringe slightly haphazardly in "steps" on one side. Put your hair into bunches but leave a section loose on the right hand side which you then fix in front of your ear with 2 clips. Wear purple eyeshadow and purple/black lipstick on a white base.
- Brady
Only really achievable if you are a baby. You could try shaving all your hair off, wrapping yourself in a stripy poncho/blanket and getting someone to carry you around, but you also have to spend most of your time asleep and this is not recommended - you'll miss the programmes!
- Amber
Section your hair up into lots of little tresses all over your hear. Bleach each of the tresses but leave the roots dark. Hold the end and twist each one tightly until it starts curling up on itself and wind it into a little bun. Pin each bun to hold it in place. Use red eyeshadow with a vertical white stripe through the centre. Draw little eyelashes under each eye in the corner and some sweeping lines from your eyebrows outwards.
- Dal
Wear a space-y looking blue and white top with a round neck and blue trousers. Look very sensible. If going out, wear a hat with earflaps.
- Jack
Get a very short haircut and dye it bright red. Make sure it is nice and spiky. Fashion some technical wizard glasses out of bits coat hangers, a magnifying glass and a mini-maglite (blue).
Amber, Jack and Dal tend to wear the same cheek or forehead design of makeup which is currently a red horizontal striped diamond pattern in the centre of the forehead just above the nose.
- Salene
Dye your hair red and put it up in a french roll. Poke two chopsticks or similar into the top of the 'bun' part. Decorate the fringe with clips to hold in place.
- Cloe
Put your hair in a ponytail with a few wispy bits escaping.
- Patsy
Section your air into quarters and plait each. Twist them into small buns and fix with hairpins.
Salene, Cloe and Patsy tend to wear the same cheek design of makeup which is currently a grey design of a square and semicircle.
- Bob the Dog
Walk on all fours, wear a fake fur coat, paint a blue circle around your left eye.
- Lex
Grow your hair to shoulder length and dye black if needs be, but dye one strand on the left hand side red. Wear black trousers and a seethru black top. Add black elbow pads (cheaper option - stick black gaffer tape around your arms). Draw three black vertical lines from your lips to your chin to form a 'beard'.
- Zandra
Dye your hair half pink and half blue. Wear in bunches about halfway up your head. Liberally decorate with clips. Wear a fairly plain brown outfit.
- Ryan
Shave your head (grade 1). Draw a vertical black line under each eye in the same way as Lex used to. Wear combat vest and trousers.
- KC
Spike your hair upwards into little points all over your head and dye the tips green. Draw a black horizontal stripe under each eye.
- Tai-San
Grow your hair long (and fringe out if you have one) and put it in a high ponytail. Wear exotic clothing - preferably golden Chinese cloth - and crystals.
- Zoot (before he was killed)
Braid or dreadlock all your (shoulder length)
hair. Wear bright blue contact lenses. Draw red flames all over your face. Wear a cap like a soldier or policeman with goggles around it.
- Ebony
Braid your hair (or extensions) in lots of tiny plaits with string, then put into bunches or a looped up ponytail. Draw a black band across your eyes (like a "Zorro" mask). Also draw red flames on your forehead.
