Little Things that make go Hmmm......
HMMMM....this whole scene bugged the you know what out of me. I mean puhleaze -- RJ hanging out at Rodi's
throwing himself a pity party. NO WAY!!! And over Tea, no way! I have to believe that RJ's uncharacteristic
behavior is over the pending loss of Indigo...RJ's dream. Thank goodness Dorian came in to brighten up the day. As I have said time and time again, I love RJ and Dorian together. Too bad that it always has to be about Dorian; although she showed a minutes of interest in RJ's behavior over Tea. Dorian was befuddled as I was with RJ drinking. Glad to see that Dorian knows RJ better than I would have guessed, based on what isn't shown between them. I loved how RJ was hardly paying attention to Dorian even though he was distracted with Tea. What woke him up? The mention of blood or the shooting? Dorian is still busy trying to get RJ to join her in her scheme to back at Dorian and RJ is not having any of it. It is bad enough seeing RJ drunk, at least he hadn't had too much to drink to be talked into Dorian's wild scheme of breaking into Viki's to find Viki's lover. |

Little Things that make go Hmmm......
As happy as I was that Asa and Renee's engagement party was held at Indigo, I also wondered what happened to the Country Club. Sure I could see that Renee was trying to help out her good friend Max, but Renee's not that crazy about RJ. Okay, now what really bothered me in the beginning was that Max was doing all the schmoozing up to Asa. While I can understand it to some degree I hate that PTB had RJ tagging along like he was Max's flunky. Then when it came to Max deserting RJ I couldn't figure out why RJ was panicking. Like what good is Max anyway when RJ was running the Club pretty much on his own anyway? The whole set up had me bugged from the beginning. I don't think PTB know how to do party scenes very well; Hank was just standing around looking for something to do or talk to. I wondered where the heck was Lisa; then I figured well he can't ever take her home so why should he be allowed to escort her to the party. |
Asa and Renee's engagement party is being held at Club Indigo.
Bo and Renee are talking.
Asa walks in talking to Max and RJ: "Believe it was not my idea to hold it in this place." RJ: "Well, Asa you already starting to act like a husband." Asa: "I'll tell you one thing you're going to see one angry husband if anything goes wrong. I better not catch cutting corners or shorting anything or I'll put a stop payment on my check first thing in the morning." Max: "Asa don't worry you'll have anything the way you want it; or shall I say the way Renee want's it?" Asa: "Tonite what Renee wants, Renee gets." Max: "Ha, ha, nothing to worry about, not a thing. Top shelf, top shelf. We want you to have a great evening. We want you to think of Club Indigo first, for all your entertainment needs." As Asa walks away: "You know Holden you sound more and more like a loser everyday." RJ to Max: "Think of Indigo for all your entertainment needs?" RJ laughs: "How...how sad is that?" Max: "Before this evening is over, you better learn how to do a little sucking up because if the Buchanans are spreading their cash around we just might be able to get over the hump." RJ: "Ah! Oh you obviously haven't looked at the book lately. Now we would need a party like every night for a year. Face it Indigo is going under and we are going right along with it." Meanwhile a vendor comes and RJ pays him and lets out a big sigh. Max says to RJ, "Try to look happy would you?" RJ: "It's $1500 for flowers. You're throwing good money after bad." Max: "Look it's going to pay off." RJ doubtful, "Well, I'll believe that when I see the bookings." Blair comes and she is obviously not feeling well. She's trying to tell Max that something is wrong when Kelly bops in. Blair leaves and Max runs after her. Just as Max catches up to Blair falls and refuses Max's help as she stands up. As she leaves she drops a note from her doctor about the necessity for an MRI on the floor that Max picks up. Max quickly calls her doctor pretending that he is Blair's husband and finds out that Blair is not well. Max goes back into the bar where Hank greets him but Max ignores him. Hank walks up to the bar and RJ pours Hank a drink. "Well RJ, this is some shindig, huh? Must be bringing in quite a penny for the club." RJ: "Yea, yea it's great." Hank: "Listen RJ, what I meant was when I offered you some money the other day..." RJ interrupts and lies to Hank, "No, no Hank, there's no need. Look we've got Buchanan bucks hind us now." Hank surprised, "Really? So you're okay?" RJ, "Yea, never better." Hank: "Good." RJ: "Yup." Asa walks up to the complaining, "Guess what, I just had a shot of what's supposed to be a shot of 20 year old bourbon and it wasn't 20 seconds old." RJ: "Well, that's gotta be wrong." Asa: "You're damn right it's wrong." RJ: "Well, let me take care of it Asa." Asa: "You better and nothing else better go wrong." RJ: "Yes, sir!" As RJ walks away Asa looks at Hank and says, "You know for a guy who is trying to go straight, your brother likes to do the two step with trouble." Hank looks a little puzzled, "What are you so snippy about? Look if you're backing this club you must believe in them." Asa looks at Hank as if he is nuts, "What are loco? I wouldn't back those two losers if my life depended on it." Kelly is looking for Max, "RJ, have you seen Max?" RJ: "No. No I haven't and you know the last thing I need is for him to pull one of his disappearing acts on me tonite." Max shows up to the bar where RJ and Kelly are. Kelly: "Max where have you been?" RJ: "Yea that's exactly my question." Max: "Something came up, I gotta take care of it." RJ looks at him, "And now you're leaving?" Max looking distracted, "It's very imp..." RJ interrupts, "No. NO Max not tonight." As Max is leaving Kelly wants to know what's wrong and he tells her he can't tell her but it is a matter of life and death. RJ gets upset because he realizes that Max is leaving and he tells him that he can't leave tonight, but Max leaves anyway. |
I don't have to tell you all that I am having a real problem with RJ suddenly
turning into a drunk. I am also not at all pleased with the way that Lisa and Hank are being used as glorified extras. I would love to hear a conversation between the two of them when they are not worrying about anyone. I am also not pleased with the way Sykes talks to RJ. Sykes the crooked cop talks down to RJ as if he is better. I don't think so. Sykes should be in jail himself. Why I have no idea because except that they came up with some lame pardon about him actually assisting in catching Drew's murder. Well, big wow. That was a no brainer for Sykes, he knew it almost from the beginning. I personally cannot stand to even watch Sykes with Tea, it is FF city for me. When Tea said "I wish I had seen this coming." I was thinking okay how many times are you going to say "I wish I had seen this coming"? Me I wish I had seen it too, because this is really mind boggling to me. Why would RJ lose it over Tea; and another thing, Tea just had a confrontation with RJ just the night or so before so why she show up at his Club arm in arm with Syko? Why not decline? It's not like I remember Tea being bosom buddies with either Asa or Renee; and Syko certainly didn't endear himself to Asa during the investigation of Drew's murder. Why? Because it was just another SPD on Jilly's part to make Syko look like the good guy to Tea. I absolutely loved RJ using Asa's check to light his cigar, even though I am sorry to see the end of Club Indigo. RJ looked really evil but cool. Reminded of back in the day when he was the Man to be Reckoned with. I am not sure but I wasn't that crazy about Hank suddenly calling RJ to come for a drink, even if Tea and Syko weren't there. RJ is not exactly best friends with the guys who were there when he got there. The idea of RJ having a drink with Bo and Kevin was almost funny. I don't know if I have ever seen RJ and Kevin even exchanging a greeting. And we all know that RJ and Bo just are not the best of buddies regardless of Hank and Bo's connection. I had to laugh though because RJ sure knows how to clean out a room, doesn't he? I loved his remarks to both Kevin and Bo. RJ does not mince words, does he. I hate though that Hank has to jump on RJ to defend Bo...like Bo can't take care of himself. No he needs to have Hank there to always jump to his defense even with RJ. If I were RJ I would have gotten upset too. The one thing I don't get though is that the Gannon Brothers don't discuss the situation between Bo, Nora and the baby with each other or with Nora. I mean, shouldn't someone be wondering what Rachel must be thinking. Or shouldn't RJ be wanting to know for sure if Rachel is even his daughter. Shouldn't Hank be thinking the same thing? Just a big HMMMMM, I think. Or maybe a bigger HMMMM would be Bo actually talking to Hank about how Hank felt when he found out that Nora slept with RJ. I mean even Hank has to have some left over feelings regarding this subject. I don't recall if Hank has ever been allowed to explore his doubt or what he felt. I think there is a lot of story here that would allow the Gannons to be included. There is a tie to Nora whether Jilly wants to admit it or not. Fans will not forget even with the absence of Rachel. I really wish that Rachel could come home... |
Later on RJ is at the bar pouring himself a drink when Tea walks
in with Sykes. Nora walks up to the bar, "How are you doing?" RJ replies, "It's a party. How bad
could it be?" He then takes drinks to Tea and Sykes table. Lisa says to Hank as RJ walks by, "Stop
worrying, your brother's fine." Hank looking concerned replies, "Yea, too fine. You know when he
gets quiet like this mean he's thinking too much; and I know just what he's thinking." Meantime RJ is serving Tea and Sykes their drinks and Tea thanks him. "Sure," RJ responds. As RJ heads back to the bar Jessica stops him to inform him that the bathroom door is not working properly. RJ tells her he will check into it. Nora walks up and greets Hank. Hank is surprised to see her there and she tells him that she is Renee's friend; and that Bo thought that she should attend. She then starts talking to Hank about Bo and how she is worried about him and his obsession with Sam. Hank tells her that she should take it up with Bo but she thinks that Bo's taking this way beyond his job, she thinks it is personal. Hank tells Nora that he thinks that Sam can take care of himself, and Nora responds that Sam isn't the one she is worried about is Bo. Back at the bar where RJ is drinking Nora walks up, "The place looks great." RJ responds, "Well, looks can be deceiving as in you're no more happy to be here than I am." Nora replies, "OH but I have an excuse. You have a jammed packed club." "Yes, I do; but packed with what?" says RJ as he walks over to Sykes and Tea's table. Sykes sees him coming, "Great, why don't we agree to ignore him?" RJ hears him and says, "I think it's you that should be ignored." Sykes stand up,"Excuse me!" "I'll be glad too. Let me get you your coat," RJ replies. Sykes says,"I know what's going down here." And RJ is in his face, "What's going down? How unpredictable; how passionate. Are you trying to speak to me in my own tongue now? You know I think that will impress the lady." Sykes says, "You know, actually I think the one trying to impress the lady is you. Though it's obviously not working. Would you stop embarrassing yourself and just give it up?" RJ is heated now, "Are you tying to tell me who I can speak to in my own club? No, No, I don't think so. See the problem here is that you know I could show her a much, much better time than sitting here with a stupid grin on my face and clutching at her hand like some teenager." "The problem is you're drunk. Get yourself a cup of coffee and sit down," Sykes tells RJ. "Well, I don't seem to be moving. I guess you don't have any power here." Sykes responds, "I know where this is coming from." And RJ asks, "What do you know, Johnny? Huh? What do you know? You don't know squat, not about me and damn sure not about her." "You care about her, you care about this lady? You walk away and leave her alone," Sykes says. Hank then interrupts, "Hey, fellas, fellas, wait a minute. Take a break. RJ let me talk to you for a second. Please." Sykes says to RJ, "Yea, it's good advice. Go talk to your brother." RJ looks at Tea and apologizes, "I'm sorry, it won't happen again." and he walks away with Hank. Tea and Sykes decide to leave but not before Sykes apologizes. Tea assures him that it wasn't his fault, then says, "I should have seen this coming." Back at the bar RJ is pouring himself another drink as Hank says, "How about one of those for me? You ok?" RJ responds, "Does it look like?" Hank suggests, "Listen, why don't you take the rest of the night off? Why don't you let Max run this joint?" "Max? Max is missing in action," replies RJ. Later on Lisa says to Hank, "Some of us have jobs to get back to MR. D.A." "Alright, then I'll take you home," Hank offers. "No, No you stay and enjoy yourself. And try to stop worrying about your brother, ok? He's a big boy," Lisa replies. "Yea," Hank responds as he gives Lisa a little kiss goodbye. The party is winding down and Asa paid RJ. Hank walks up as RJ looking at the check and says, "So Asa is not bankrolling the club, huh?" "No, no he's just paying for his party," replies RJ. Hank looks at the check, "It's a nice start." RJ laughs, "No. No, it's not nearly enough, not nearly enough to save Indigo. The bankruptcy clock is ticking." Hank asks, "So why did you tell me he was bailing you out?" "Well you...you've got enough to worry about, Hank," says RJ.
Hank reminds RJ, "You know my offer is still on the table." "Yea. I have never taken a handout;
I am not about to start now," RJ replies. The party is over and before Asa leaves he invites everyone over to the Palace for a nightcap.
Hank invites RJ to join them, "So listen what do you say we take Asa up on that night cap?" RJ
declines as he laughs, "Asa and company aren't exactly my crowd."
RJ doesn't realize that Lindsay and Nora are trapped in the Ladies Room as he leaves.
When RJ arrives at the Palace Bar he walks up to Hank sitting there by himself. Hank glad to
see RJ greets him, "Hey...come here." They hug and Hank continues, "Aw, I'm Glad you changed
your mind. But Asa and Renee, they split the scene so that's just you and me which means you
either have to buy your own drink or take a hand out from big brother. Come on, have a seat.
Alright, what's your poison?"
RJ doesn't respond right away and Hank says, "Hey, something wrong? Hello? Hey, hey, earth
to RJ." |
