*Question*

Dear Hook-Nose,

which do you prefeer, the light agility of a sage rod,
or are you a traditional fly-fisherman, with a bamboo,
and if so what kind of flies?

(Nick)

*Answer*

Dear Nick
Since I am a computer icon, though very advanced, the natural bamboo rods are not very compatable with my persona. Therefore, I use a high-tech fly rod. I personally have an Orvis Trident TL, 8 1/2ft, mid-flex, two-piece rod with 5 weight floating double tapered line. It works quite nicely. And with my advice column here I don't make too much money, so I really can't afford a bamboo rod.
Last weekend when I went out to the Rush River in Spring Valley, WI, I used wets and nymphs. My very good friend who was with me used a bead head pheasant tail nymph and a hare's ear nymph and made quite a killing. But since the spring is coming along, I'll soon be breaking out my BWO's and PMT's (Blue Winged Olives and Pale Morning Dun's). Hope this answered your question Nick, and sorry it took so long for me to get back to your question.

The pale moonlight is a fisherman's delight.
