- James graduated from Davis High School and studied at Juilliard, the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts, and the American Conservatory Theatre
- He co-founded the Genesis Theatre Company, which played in Chicago
- He began his career in theater, but then moved to Los Angeles to pursue a film and television acting career
- James has been on shows like Northern Exposure, Medicine Ball, Millenium, Moloney, Common Ground, and Smokeless Tobacco
- Theater Productions: He's done several Shakespearean productions, namely "Troilus and Cressida" and "Twelfth Night" in NYC. He also appeared in Tennesee Williams' "Camino Real", and in the Chicago productions of "Tempest" and "Red Noses." James also worked in Seattle in the American Conservatory Theatre's productions of "Handing Down the Names" and "Voices in the Dark."

- Distunguishing Marks: The scar over his eye is from an incident that occurred in Queens, NY; apparently James was asked for his wallet by a group of not-too-nice guys, and he wasn't initially intent on complying. He also has a real nasty scar on his leg from a childhood accident which had him out of commission for about a year. As a result of skin grafts needed to repair the damage, there's a section of hair on his leg that grows sideways
