Many musicals have taken the journey from stage to screen. For some, it was a rocky road and the show arrived damaged. Others took a safer route and the film arrived as a good documentation of the stage version. Still others followed creative and aggressive paths and in so, exceeded their stage counterparts. No matter the route and the box-office and/or critical success, we love them all.
Each film listed to the right has taken that journey. It started as a stage musical and then became a movie. Shows that were televised, that were created straight for video, or shows that started out as films and then where adapted to the stage are not discussed, just stage to screen.
