Prologue:
Carly gets off the elevator with a smile as she prepares to see Jason. Her smile fades when she sees Elizabeth Webber giving Jason a hug. Carly stops short of Jason’s door and just watches them.
Jason pulls out of the hug with Elizabeth and spots Carly. "Good luck today," Jason told Elizabeth with a smile.
Elizabeth smiled back at him. "Thanks. I’ll need it. See you later," she said and then got on the elevator and left.
Jason walked into his Penthouse and Carly followed him. "How was your Thanksgiving?" She asked him and then shut the door.
"Could have been better," he replied.
Carly licked her lips and nodded slightly. "Yeah, mine, too."
"How come?" Jason asked her as he stared at her with intent.
"I don’t know, Jase. I’ve been thinking about the kiss and --" she said as she looked down at her fidgety fingers. "I just hope it meant what I think it meant. I mean, I don’t expect anything, but I hope for it. I just don’t want to go back to the way things were before. I guess what I want to know is do you? Or do you like what happened, too?" She asked him, as she prayed for the answer she wanted to hear.
Jason quickly wrapped his arms around her and held her tight. After a few moments Carly pulled away slightly. "I was hoping you’d feel the same way."
Jason nodded slightly as he brushed his fingers over her hair. "I said I don’t regret the kiss and I meant it. But we can’t change anything."
Carly looked at him in disbelief. "How can you even say that? That kiss changed everything for me and I thought it changed things for you, too."
"Come here," Jason said, and he took her hand in his. He led her over to the couch and they both sat down. "You’re right. The kiss did change things for me and for us. But if we’re not careful A.J. could use it against you to take Michael away from you. Now, I know that is not what you want. I know you don’t want to hurt Michael."
"Of course I don’t. But I don’t want to lose you, either," Carly whispered.
Jason caressed Carly’s face. "You won’t. All I’m saying is that we need to think things through and take it slow. We don’t have to rush it."
Carly closed her eyes and smiled. "I know you’re right," she said as she opened up her eyes. "As long as I know we’re moving forward and not moving backwards. I really can wait for us."
Jason smirked at her. "We are. Carly, I trust you -- and I couldn’t imagine living my life without you in it. You’re really important to me, OK?"
Carly smiled at him as she finally saw their future together for the first time in his eyes. This time it wasn’t her just hoping, it was them feeling. She felt like she could sit there with him for hours.
Jason noticed her in a frozen state. "What?" he asked her.
"Nothing. I just couldn’t be more happier than I am right now," she glowed. "Come here," she said as she leaned over and they sealed their future commitment with a kiss.
"You better go," Jason said as they pulled out of their kiss.
"I know," she said and walked over to the door. Carly took one last glance at Jason. "Jase?"
Jason smiled at her. "Yeah?"
"Thanks for the chance. It’s the best thing that could have happened to me," she said.
Jason got up from the couch and walked over to her. "For me, too," he said and kissed her one last time before she left his Penthouse.
~*~Later that night~*~
Carly sealed the envelope and set it down on the table at the Quartermaines. As she opened the back door, A.J. walked into the room. "Going on a trip?"
Carly turned around and held Michael close to her. "Michael and I are leaving and never coming back."
"Not with my son. You can leave, but Michael stays here," A.J. insisted.
"Do you want Michael to grow up in misery? You won’t win. You won’t take him away from me," Carly told him.
"Try me. If you leave me I’ll take Michael away so fast that you won’t know what hit you. So go, because I know you’ll be back," he told her.
Carly handed Michael to the maide and then she left the Quartermaine mansion. "You’ll be back," A.J. muttered as he watched her leave.
~*~Kelly’s~*~
Carly walked through Kelly’s courtyard and spotted Jason dancing closely with Elizabeth Webber. Her breath caught in lungs as tears began to flow down her cheek. She quickly wiped away her tears and anger began to flow through her blood. She reached for the door handle and walked right into Kelly’s, which made Jason and Elizabeth pull apart from each other.
"Carly--" Jason said with shock to see her. He knew exactly why she was looking at him and Elizabeth like that.
Carly just looked at the two of them. "What’s going on here?"
Elizabeth felt the need to apologize. "I’m sorry. It’s not what you think. I asked him to do it to help me remember--"
Carly cut her off. "Stay away from him," she fumed.
Elizabeth politely excused herself and Jason just looked at Carly. "What’s the matter with you?"
"How could you do this? I guess you didn’t mean the things you said today," she said as she shook her head.
"Carly, I meant all of them. Elizabeth is just a friend. I told you that you’re the future I want. I just--" Jason tried to explain, but Carly wouldn’t listen.
Tears fell down her face. "I have to go. I can’t--" she said as she ran her hands through her hair. "I don’t know what to believe anymore."
"Carly--" Jason called out as she ran out of Kelly’s with tears running down her cheeks.
~*~20 minutes later at Sonny’s PH~*~
Carly shook her head as Sonny tried to convince her that Jason spends more time then she would think with Elizabeth Webber. "I see them together all the time," Sonny said.
"What are you saying? Are you saying he loves her?" She asked, as the tears continued to fall.
"Think what you want," Sonny replied.
Carly shook her head. She knew she had to find Jason and find out the truth. She knew he wouldn’t lie to her. She walked around Sonny and grabbed her purse. Sonny reached out for her and grabbed her arm and pulled her close.
"Leave him be," he said as he reached in and kissed her hard. He continued to do it since she wasn’t pulling back.
Carly pulled back. "What are you doing? Jason is your best friend!"
Sonny pulled her close to his body. "Come on. You know you want it!" He said as he tried to kiss her one last time.
Carly pulled away from him. "NO!" She screamed and ran out of Sonny’s Penthouse.
~*~The Warehouse~*~
Jason and a body guard got out of the limo and across the way was Sorel and a few guys. Before Jason could move bullets came flying out of nowhere. He flew across the limo and landed on the other side of it.
The men stopped shooting when they saw a woman walking towards the warehouse. Sorel told his men to get lost and he followed.
Carly saw Jason sprawled out on the ground. She raced over to him and turned him over. "Jason!" She screamed.
"Don’t touch it," he muttered through the pain as he tried to stay focused.
"Jason, oh, my god. Jase, listen to me, OK? I believe you. You can’t leave me, not now!" Carly screamed through her streaming tears.
"I--" Jason tried to speak.
"JASON!!" Carly screamed uncontrollably as she felt him slipping away. "Jase, I love you! NO!!!! I love you!"
** Oceans apart day after day
And I slowly go insane
I hear your voice on the line
But it doesn't stop the pain **
** If I see you next to never
How can we say forever**
** Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you**
~*~The Docks~*~
Bobbie and Roy were walking by the docks when they heard screaming. Bobbie looked at Roy and he looked back at her. "That’s Carly," she said as she listened closely.
Bobbie raced down the docks till they neared Jason’s warehouse and spotted Carly on the ground next to Jason. She saw blood dripping from Jason and Carly holding him. Bobbie took a deep breath and walked over to Carly. She leaned down and wrapped her arms around Carly. "Sweetheart, come with me."
Carly couldn’t even hear what she was saying. "I lo--ve you, Jase! I l--o--v--e you!!!!!" Carly screeched as she laid her head on Jason’s chest. "JASE!!!"
** I took for granted, all the times
That I thought would last somehow
I hear the laughter, I taste the tears
But I can't get near you now**
** Oh, can't you see it baby
You've got me goin' crazy**
** Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you**
** I wonder how we can survive
This romance
But in the end if I'm with you
I'll take the chance**
Bobbie pulled Carly away from him and left Roy to handle Jason. "I can’t leave him, Bobbie. I love him," she whispered.
"I know, honey, I know," Bobbie said as her heart broke for her daughter. Bobbie got Carly away from the Warehouse and all she could do was hold her heartbroken daughter in her arms, while she cried uncontrollably.
"Jason!!!" Carly screamed and fell weak in the knees. She placed herself on the ground and pounded until Bobbie held her fists still. "Jason---I love you. I--I--"
Roy came back a little while later and stood in front of Bobbie and Carly. Bobbie looked up at him. "Roy?"
Carly sat up quickly and looked at him with desperation. "Please---"
"I’m sorry," was all Roy could say.
Carly clung to Bobbie with all she had left in her. "NO!!!" she screamed until her face turned red. She repeated Jason’s name over and over again as she sunk further down on the ground.
** Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you
Waiting for you**

Chapter 1:
**6 months later**
Carly was in the Quartermaine living room when Bobbie walked in the house. "Mother, what are you doing here?"
Bobbie smiled and went and sat next to Michael and Carly. "I am just checking up on you."
Carly nodded as she played with Michael’s hair. "I’m sorry. I just am having a hard day."
"Is it A.J.? Is he still pushing you to consumate things?" Bobbie asked her.
"No, it’s not that. It’s just that--" Carly began to say, but Leticia came into the room and took Michael away for his afternoon nap.
Carly looked back at her Mother. "Today. It’s been 6 months since Jason has been gone," she whispered with saddness.
"Oh, honey," Bobbie said. She reached over and wrapped her arms around her. "I know it doesn’t seem any better, but you are getting better. You will be able to move on."
Carly pulled out of their embrace. "I won’t. It feels worse than when it happened. I will never be able to forget Jason. I will always love him."
~*~Sonny’s PH~*~
Sonny walked out of the kitchen with some papers in his hands, but stopped when he saw the figure standing before him. "Jason?"
Jason took a few deep breaths. "Yeah--"
"Man, I thought you were dead!" Sonny exclaimed as he walked closer to Jason. "Carly said you died in her arms."
"I know she did, but I had to make it that way," Jason told him as he sat down on the couch.
Sonny, in complete shock, sat down next to him. "What do you mean?"
"I was bleeding and I had to have her believe I was dead. Bobbie and Roy came, and then Bobbie took Carly away. At that moment I had to think fast, and I had to get Roy’s help to do it," Jason told him.
"Does Bobbie know you are alive?" Sonny asked.
Jason shook his head. "No. I had to disappear to protect Carly. I did it for her and for our future."
"You sound like me with Brenda," Sonny commented.
"But it’s time for me to come back now. I have to see Carly. But I just wanted to stop here and let you know that I’m not dead," Jason said.
"Thanks, man. And thanks for understanding about what happened with Carly that night," Sonny finally said.
"What do you mean?" Jason asked with confusion.
"Me kissing her a few times," Sonny admitted.
Jason stood up and just stared at Sonny. "You what?!"
"I’m sorry. I was upset over this Hannah stuff and Carly was there. She wanted to know what was going on with Elizabeth and you. I led her to believe that there was more to the thing with Elizabeth then you were telling," Sonny disclosed.
"Sonny, you had NO right! Carly and I-- well, things had changed between us and I DIDN’T need you trying to mess things up because things were bad with Hannah! It was none of your business!" Jason screamed.
"You’re right. And I’m sorry, Jason. I wasn’t thinking clearly," Sonny said.
Jason shook his head and looked around the room as he tried to figure out what to do next. "I have to get out of here."
"Jason, wait--" Sonny said. "I’m sorry."
"No, you’re not," Jason replied.
"You had to see what kind of person she was. She was only going to hurt you in the end," Sonny told him.
"Stop! Don’t talk to me about Carly ever again. I can’t deal with you right now, I have to find her." Jason said and walked out the door.
~*~Kelly’s~*~
Bobbie and Carly walked through the Courtyard of Kelly’s. Bobbie opened the door and Carly stopped in front of it. "Carly, what is it? Aren’t you coming in?"
"You know what? I think I need to go for a walk and think about some things before I have to go back to A.J. and try to pretend to be happy. I think I need to remember Jason today. I need to remember how close it came for us to be together," she said softly.
Bobbie released her hand from the door and smiled at her. "All right. Please call me if you need anything."
Carly nodded and hugged her Mother. "I will," she said and then walked away.
Roy passed Carly and then looked at Bobbie. "Is she all right?"
"It’s the 6 month anniversary of Jason’s death," Bobbie said as she looked in the direction of where Carly disappeared.
~*~The Docks~*~
Carly looked up at the bright sun. She felt like she should be happy and love the gorgeous day. She made her way to the docks and sat down on one of the benches. This was the place that her and Jason talked about their future. She looked off to the left and took a deep breath as she tried to hold back her tears. "If I could just have one more moment."
Carly was so into her own thoughts and memories of her and Jason that she didn’t even hear someone walk down the dock steps.
The figure stood in front of her. "Carly--"
Carly looked up and was taken aback by what she saw. She jumped up quickly and wrapped her arms around the person who stood before her. "JASE!!!!" She cried as she held on so tight. "I can’t believe it’s really you," she said and then pulled back slight. "It is, isn’t it?"
"Yes, it is," Jason said with a chuckle as he hugged her another time.
"Where have you been, Jase?" Carly asked him.
Jason pulled out of their embrace. "I had to. I did it for you, I did it so we’d still have a future."
"Why didn’t you tell me? Why didn’t you take me with you?" Carly pleaded with him for answers. "Jase, why?" she cried.
"I did it because I loved you--" Jason told her in a soft voice.
Carly looked at him with shock. She never thought she would ever see him alive again, let alone hear those words out of his mouth.
Chapter 2
Carly took a big gasp as she processed what he had just said to her. A tear fell down her cheeks as she smiled at Jason. She may have dreamed of him being alive, but she never thought he’d say those words. Carly shook her head in happiness. "Jason--"
Jason reached his hand out to her, and touched her right cheek. "I do love you, Carly. I really do," he told her. Before Jason could get another word out, she pulled him close to her and wrapped her arms around him tightly.
Carly just stood there enjoying the feel of his arms around her waist. She couldn’t believe this was really happening. She was so happy that she felt a little dizzy. And with no warning or reason she burst into tears.
Jason pulled back and placed his hands on her arms. "Carly, what is it? Why are you crying?"
Carly wiped away her tears and started laughing a little. "I just never thought I would ever hear that from you. I knew you were everything to me, but I didn’t think you felt the same way," she said as she started pacing. Carly sat back down on the bench and Jason sat next to her. "Jase, can I ask you something?"
"What?" Jason answered as he looked at her in the eyes.
"Did Elizabeth know where you were?" Carly quickly asked him, hoping that wasn’t the wrong thing to say.
Jason wasn’t sure why she was asking him that. "Why would you ask that?"
"Jase, please. Did she? Please just tell me," she said.
"No. I haven’t seen Elizabeth since that night," he told her. "You know, the night you thought I died in your arms, and the night Sonny kissed you."
Carly was so blown away that she stood up quickly. "I didn’t kiss him back, Jase! I saw you at Kelly’s with Elizabeth, so I went to Sonny for answers. He kissed me, but I ran out. I ran out and I went looking for you. Jase, I--" Carly rambled on without even giving Jason a chance to respond.
Jason stood up and tried to say something, but she didn’t let him. He took a glance around the docks and then in one swoop, he cupped his hands around her face and kissed her so much passion and feeling. After a few moments, a breathless Jason pulled out of their kiss. "Now, will you let me say something?"
Carly rolled her eyes a little with a smile. "Was I doing it again?"
"Yes!" Jason laughed. "Carly, I was only dancing with Elizabeth because she asked me to. She wanted to remember Lucky. It wasn’t like you thought. I mean, why would you even think that? After we just got talking about how we felt and sharing another kiss. I love you, Carly. I felt it then, and I feel it now."
Carly couldn’t hold the tears in for another second. she smiled through a few more tears that fell quickly down her face. "I love you so much, Jase," she said as she through her arms around him. "I’ll always love you."
Jason let go of their embrace and placed his hand in hers. "Come somewhere with me right now," he said.
"I’d go anywhere with you, Jason, but what about Michael? What am I going to do?" Carly asked him.
"We’re going to get him back. We’re going to do it without any panicking. Right, Carly?" Jason asked her.
"But, Jase-- what if--"
"I brought back a lawyer, all right? I found us a place to live--" Jason started to explain to her.
Carly interrupted him. "’Us’?"
"Of course. Me, you, and Michael are a family. I put a place together for us, and I wanted to show it to you. I wanted to show you and prove to you that I am still in it for the long haul, and that I didn’t give up on us. Will you come?" Jason asked her.
Carly kissed Jason softly on the lips. "There’s nothing else I’d rather do. There’s no one else I’d rather be with," she smiled.
Jason took her hand and led her off of the docks and over to his bike. "Remember this?" he asked her.
"How could I forget?" She replied.
Jason handed her a black helmet. "This is for you--" he said.
Carly took the helmet in her hands and noticed it had her name on it. "Jase--"
Jason watched her put it on and then he got on the bike. Carly wrapped her arms around Jason’s waist as she got on the bike. "Ready?" Jason asked her as he started the bike.
"YES!" Carly yelled over the rumbling sound. She wrapped her arms around tight and rested her head on his shoulder. She screamed as they took off.
~*~Kelly’s~*~
Roy and Bobbie took a seat at a table near the counter, so she could keep an eye on the new waitress. "So, how did Carly look to you?" Bobbie asked him.
"Actually, she looked kind of tired. Did she talk about Jason with you today?" Roy asked.
"She just misses him and says she will never love anyone the way she loved Jason. And honestly, I believe that. Jason-- Jason was her solemate. He understood her like no one else could. Carly had been though so much as a child. I was kind of hoping Jason and her could be happy. I was hoping she’d finally be happy. And with him, she was," Bobbie said as she thought back.
"I know she was upset with him that night, but what if he wasn’t dead? Do you think she’d still love him the way she thought she did?" Roy questioned, making it seem hypothetical.
"If I am sure of one thing it’s that she loved and still loves Jason. Nothing he did would make her stop. He forgave her time and time again, and I’m positive she’d do the same for him," Bobbie replied before getting up from her chair.
Roy watched Bobbie closely with hope. ‘If things went as planned I hope you’re right’ he thought to himself.
~*~Outskirts of PC~*~
Jason took Carly’s hand and brought her inside the house and then he shut the door. He stopped and looked at her. "What do you think?"
Carly looked around and saw nothing but wood. "Jase, um-- it’s empty. I mean, there is no furniture."
"I know. I remember how much you liked to decorate the PH, so I thought you’d like to do the same here. This is going to be your home, Carly. It’s going to be our home, and I want you to do this," Jason said to her.
Carly took a step further into the living room. "I know exactly what would look spectacular right over there--" she said as she pointed to the wall across the room.
"Whatever you want. This is your home to decorate any way you want," Jason smiled.
"Can you show me Michael’s room?" She asked him.
Jason nodded and they made their way up the curved stairs. Carly touched the railing as she walked beside him. She looked over at him and smiled.
Carly walked into the room that Jason pointed at and she looked around. Carly looked up and saw the skylight in the middle of the room. "Jase, this is perfect. Can we paint it like we did before?" She asked as she turned around to face him.
Jason saw the glow in Carly’s eyes and he knew he couldn’t say no. "Sure."
"I mean, can ‘we’ pain it together?" She asked with a smile.
"How about you paint it and I’ll watch. Painting isn’t really my thing," he replied as he walked closer to her.
Carly wrapped her arms around his kneck. "Please, Jase? I want us to do it together. Pl--ea--se," she begged him.
"All right, all right," he gave in.
Carly took her arms away from Jason’s and stood in the center of the room. A big smile lit up her face as she thought about what it would mean to finally have a home with the ones she loved more than anything.
Jason came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her body. "Do you like it?"
Carly turned around in his arms and smiled at him. "It’s going to be a beautiful home, Jase. It’s going to be our home. And it’s going to be what I’ve always wanted. You gave that to me like no one else could. I can’t wait to start. Can we start right away?" She asked with a laugh, and smiled when Jason laughed with her.
Jason placed his hands on her face. "We can do anything you want. We’re together now, and once we get Michael back no one will be able to touch us. The way I feel about you will never change. This house, this future-- it’s for you, for us."
"You are my heart, Jase, and I don’t want to be without it again. I don’t want to lose you again," she said. Their lips touched and they kissed as a sign for their everlasting committment to each other and to their family.
Carly pulled out of their kiss and turned around so her back was against his chest. Jason wrapped his arms around her again. "This is my dream come true," Carly muttered softly.
Jason rested his head on her shoulder. "I love you," he whispered in her ear. Carly placed her hand on his face as she looked at him.
