As Carly comes into Jakes, Robin is leaving. Carly runs straight into Jason’s arms and Jason looks towards the door where Robin had left.
Carly: {She pulls out of their hug and looks at him} "What’s the matter? Aren’t you happy to see me?"
Jason: {Nods} "Sure, I’m happy to see you."
Carly: {Smiles} "Well, good. Then why don’t you buy me a soda. It’s been a hell of a day." {She walks over to the bar and Jason is still}
Jason takes a breath and once last look towards the door before joining Carly at the bar. He then goes over and sits next to her.
Jason and Carly make their way to a table and places their sodas on the table
Jason: "Rough day, huh?"
Carly: {She sits down} "Yeah, weird day. But it’s getting better by the second. You couldn’t ask for a nicer wake-up call. By the way, in case I forgot to mention it, I had a really good time last night."
Jason: "What do you know? The sun just went down again."
Carly: {Laughs} "Sorry. I have to be at work in an hour. I pulled the late shift. {Jason isn’t looking at her at this point, so she leans closer to him} Aren’t you even the least bit curious?"
Jason: {Looks at her} "About what?"
Carly: "About what I do-- you know, where I work."
Jason: "There are other things about you that interest me more. But if you want me to start asking questions--"
Carly: {Shakes her head} "No, I’m just checking. There is something, though, that I think we need to settle right up front. If I run into you any place other than here, I need you to pretend you don’t know me, and I’m going to do the same."
Jason: "No problem."
Carly: {Smiles} "Good."
Jason: "Good."
Carly: "The only way I want to know you is in the biblical sense. I’ve got this really complicated life, and a boy on the side is pretty much all I can handle right--"
Jason: "’A boy on the side?’ Is that what I am? Is that like a side order of fries?"
Carly: {Laughs} "Hmm, in a way. It means that you don’t get to be the main dish, but you’re also perfect. A guy who lives over a bar and is terrific in bed and doesn’t want to know about the rest of my life. Is that going to be a problem for you?"
Jason: "No. As long as I know what’s expected, I’m happy to comply."
Carly: {Looks at him and smiles} "What if I told you that I didn’t ever want to see you again? Would you just be happy to comply?"
Jason: "No, I wouldn’t like that. Now it feels like I said something wrong."
Carly: "I get the feeling you don’t know much about women outside the bedroom. Do you?"
Jason: "I guess not, unless there’s something else you want and you’re not telling me."
Carly: "Do I act shy? At least you know one thing about me."
Jason: "You know something, you just-- you just solved a big problem for me. {Carly shakes her head in confusion} Being somebody’s boy on the side-- is exactly what I needed only I didn’t realize it."
Carly: {Smiles} "As long as you don’t get possessive and ask for more."
Jason: "I promise not to do that."
Carly: "And what makes you so sure you’ll be happy to comply all along?"
Jason: "Same thing that makes you so sure. I like the way we set it up. It feels right, so you don’t have to worry. I won’t even ask your name. Good enough?"
Carly: "Yeah, I think we’re going to get along just fine. {She reaches for her purse and stands up. She goes over and kisses him a few times.} I have to go to work now. {She pats his arm} Maybe--{She pulls back and Jason grabs her arm and stands up with her} I’ll catch you later, crawl into bed with you. {Jason kisses her a few more times}
Jason: {Holds her face in his hands} "Don’t count on waking me up because I’m probably going to have a problem getting to sleep." {She kisses him and leaves}
