Batam Island is part of the Riau Island chain, which is located south of Singapore. It is a laid back island well known for it's water sports, indoor snow ski centre and beach resorts. The kampong lifestyle is still very prominent in Batam Island.

Jakarta is the capital of Indonesia with more than 10 million people. It is located on the densely populated Java Island, and the city consists of old buildings and houses lying side by side with new and modern ones. Jakarta is extremely crowded and traffic is usually heavy and chaotic.
