STORY
Dragon Quest I:
It has been many years of peace since your ancestor, [Roto], recovered the [Jewel of Light] from the evil fiend Zoma and returned the dark land of Alefgard to the light. As often is the case, this peace was too good to last. The [Jewel of Light ] has been stolen again by the cleverly evil [Dragon King] from [Ladutorm Castle]. The land has once again been plunged into the darkness of evil. If this was not enough, the sweet princess of [Ladutorm], [Princess Laura], has been kidnapped and hidden away by the [Dragon King's] minions -- monsters that rome the countryside. Hope seems lost until a brave descendant of [Roto] steps forward and offers to undertake the quest to recover the coveted [Jewel of Light] and rescue [Princess Laura]. Bearing the emblem of [Roto] on his armor, the young man ventures forth on his lonely journey.
You are this hero. You must follow in the footsteps of your ancestor, and restore peace to the kingdom.
Dragon Quest II:
After a successful quest, the young man slew the [Dragon King], restored the [Jewel of Light] to [Ladutorm Castle], and rescued the fair [Princess Laura]. [Princess Laura] and the great hero fell in love and were wed at the end of the hero's adventure. The King of [Ladutorm] more than willingly offered his crown to the brave descendant of [Roto], yet the young man politely declined, insisting that he must seek a kingdom of his own to rule. Thus, [Princess Laura] and the great hero travelled over the seas and discovered a new land. They gave birth to three children, granting each of the children a country and castle of their own. These lands were [Lauresia], [Sumaltria], and [Moonburg].
It is now 100 years later.......
Peace has reigned in the new-found country for 100 years. The [Princess of Moonburg] and the [King of Moonburg] sit in the courtyard of their castle having a quiet discussion, when the years of peace end abruptly. A soldier hurriedly enters the courtyard and informs the king that the forces of Hargon, the evil sorceror, have begun a siege on the castle. The king commands his daughter to hide as monsters storm in. The king fights valiantly, although  is soon consumed by a magical spell cast by one of Hargon's monsters. Alas, the [Castle of Moonburg] is burned into ruins. However, a single, dying, soldier of [Moonburg] makes his way to the [Castle of Lauresia] to inform the king there of the sacking and to alert him of the danger the country of [Lauresia] is in. The soldier gasps his message to the king then dies at his feet. The [King of Lauresia] turns to the young [Prince of Lauresia] at his side, who also heard the grim news. The king explains that he is much too old to adventure anymore and asks that you undertake the quest to put an end to Hargon's havoc.
You are the [Prince of Lauresia]. You must seek out the aid of your cousins, the [Prince of Sumaltria] and the [Princess of Moonburg] for this quest will be most difficult. Together, you three must carry on the legacy of your ancestor, [Roto], and defeat Hargon before it is too late.
