Lobby

• Fighting was too hot in the lobby when a new player popped in and said "Hi, I'm new to ladder". The quickest answer was "Welcome to hell".

New Players

• A new player asked me when I refused to play a 1-point match, if he has to report twice if we played a 2-points match.

Non-Ladder Players

• A player entered my table. I asked "LN ?". He said "Istanbul". I asked "Is that your ladder name?". He said "No, nick name". I checked for "Istanbul" and found a player by that name, so I started the game. I noticed he was away for 12.6 days, so I asked him about it. He said "I was surfing the net. How did you know I was away?". I said "From Case's Statistics." He said "Oh!!". I won the game, and just before I removed the last pip, I told him not to forget to report. He said "I don’t understand." I asked "What you don’t understand? You lost, so go and report please." After explaining what reporting is and what ladder is and what Case's Ladder is, I understood he was not a Ladder Player after all. (Tafello, Apr 1999)

• When I told a non-ladder player that I only play with ladder players, his answer was "Who do you think you are???? You are a racist and a discriminator!!!!".

• A player entered my table and after I said "Hi", I asked him "LG?", he replied "Yes". I asked "What's your LN?", no answer, "What's your Ladder Name??" I asked again. The answer came "What's a ladder name????".

Seats

• A player insisted on changing seats because he liked to play on the white seat where he always wins. As I looked at his match history, I realized that he must have sat on the red seat 75% of his previous matches.

• Another player asked to change seats to red, as red is his lucky seat. I won that match a backgammon. I wonder what would have been the result if he took the white seat!!!!

• A player asked me to sit at the top seat because he will be confused if he sits there.

Challenges

• An unknown player to me came to my table and said "Let's see now how good you are". I checked his name and discovered that his rank was 2,300+, he played only 3 matches and lost 2 of them.

Doubling

• I was playing a 1 point match with someone, and early in the game, when neither of us had an advantage he doubled me...I said, "Double! do I accept??? of course I accept, what have I got to lose, it's only a 1 point match"... The game goes on and we are neck and neck, doubles could take it either way, he's 1 pip behind, so I say "just for fun" and double him... He complained and said that I was unfair and preceeded to refuse the double!!! (Vikki, Mar 1999)

• A player doubled me in a 1-point match when I was clearly winning. When I asked him "Why did you do that??", he answered "Most of the time I double, my luck changes".

• A player always uses the cube as soon as we start a 2-points match. When I told him "This is the last time I'm going to play you", his answer was "So, this is the last time I'm going to beat you."

• A player doubled me in a 1-point match. When I asked him "WHY???", he said "To have more suspense!!!".

Loosing & Reporting

• Little_red_crab won a match, went and posted a loss, then said after in the lobby "force of habit, well anyone care for a game, even if you lose you win?? LOL"

• A player asked me to leave my table after I lost the match, because, as he said, the looser usually leaves the table to the winner.

• A player refused to report his loss because I didn't say "Ladder Game" before starting the match. He said half of the players he played before didn't report for this same reason.

• A player put a comment on his loss report "JERK" and when I checked his matches history, I found the same comment for all other losses reported by him, as well as a comment by one player on him "Bad Attitude" and another player "Crazy".

• Trying to apply the new rules of using same ladder name in Yahoo! ladder room, my opponent said "Are you trying to use this as an excuse not to report your loss??", although we didn't even start the game yet!!!

New Yahoo! Ladder

• After the new Yahoo! Ladder started, a player came to my table called tzoufas and said "LN same", my answer was "Who cares??!!". (Bloopansy, Apr 1999)

• When the Yahoo! Ladder started, I asked browneyes, while playing a game with her, "So, how do you find the new ladder?", another player sitting with us at the table answered me by giving me the Ladder URL address. (TBeiruty, Apr 1999)
