Well, I can not say much about your homepage since I do not know how to make one. However, I think that your homepage is too slow. It look quite good though. By the way, are you a nationalalist or something. You seem to be pretty patriotic to our country.

I think your website was very well composed and it downloaded pretty quickly, even though I
did not believe some of the facts that you listed. Taiwan was never a province of the People's Republic of
China. The Taiwanese you consider Chinese but in the United States, the white people do not consider
themselves English or French (etc) even though them immigrated from Europe about 350 years ago.
Why should the Taiwanes still be Chinese if the Americans are no loner Englishmen, Frenchmen and so on.
Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion and since this is your website, you obviously can express yours.
|
KohnMan's Response |
Taiwan was never a province of the People's Republic of China, but it has always been part of China. The geographical China, not the political China. It is a provincial thought to compare the situation between Taiwan and China with the history and the development of America. First of all, America underwent a revolution which never occured in Taiwan. The political, economic, and education system, along with the culture, were all changed from their European origin. I could not find any significant change that occured after Mainland China's take over in 1949. The only difference is that Taiwan is democratic while China is still communist. It is not entirely true that all of the residents who immigrated to America consider themselves Americans. Why are there Irish bars, Hispanic towns, etc? Though they may all be Americans, I do believe some of them are proud of where they were originally from. They have not forgotten their ancestral lines.
I am not 100% against the independence of Taiwan, but under the current circumstances, it just won't work. However, it is very sad that some of the residents from this small islands are trying to pathetically deny their ancestral lines in order to achieve their political goals. After all, where is your pride if you trash away things bestowed on you upon your birth (your blood, your skin color, you family name, etc)!
I think that there are already enough problems for the people living on Taiwan to worry about. Independence is a trivial thing that we should be considering, only when we have resolved all the social (major crime cases), political (government's corruption and inefficiency), and environmental (the nuclear power plants) problems. What is the use to scream for independence when most of the people in this filthy places are trying their best to immigrate to other countries?? It is not the time to put big hats on each other and arguing on things that are so unrelated to what we have to endure.

Nice hompage. It really shows your love to Taiwan. However, don't you think using Taiwanese music (by this I mean any types of music in Taiwan) would have suited your site better? As a pro -independence Taiwanese, I must say that I do think I am Chinese origin, but it's my ethnic background, not my nationality. To me, the need to address "Taiwanese is not Chinese" is based on the political reason that allows Taiwan to clarify the rest of the world's confusion on the cross strait relationship. Independence or keeping the status quo is an important issue to Taiwan. When People's Republic of China still declares Taiwan as its "renegate province," given the exisitng isolation international status of Taiwan, you think the rest of the world is going to listen to People's Republic of China or our tiny homeland? HA! At that time, imagining both of us can be jailed led by the Communists just because our "free" speech on this website.

Ni hao ma, Kohnman I really love your homepage and all of the info that you provided. I'm an American with a keen interest in Asian affairs and particularly Taiwan. I must say one thing, thoug, on the political side concerning Taiwan's push for indepence from the mainland. It is my contention and belief that the US armed forces will defend Taiwan in the event of a military confrontation between the latter and the Mainland. Yes, my government recognizes the communist Mainland gov't as the rightful" spokesman for the Chinese people, but from readings of American policy, I can easily envison the US defending Taiwan.
So, I believe that Taiwan should be a free and independent nation and gov't and that it should wholeheartedly defend itself if the Mainland armed forces attempt any kind of military action across the straits. Long Live a Free and Independent Taiwan!! :-)
Again, you have a wondefrul homepage. ;-)

Hi! Your website is great! Also, I have been looking to see who the author is of that
