Nekochan's musing of the month (Christmas '97):

"Spur of the moment inspiration" and "logical solutions"

It's been a long time to visit Neko's journal, and, since Nekochan is a Venusian, the sprite of inspiration just paid a visit on the "spur of the moment". Why? Well...on the way to somewhere else today, Nekochan just happened to hear that beautiful song on the radio that she's been trying to figure out the title of for weeks (so she can buy it), and FINALLY the station mentioned the name of the artist after the song was played - Loreena McKennitt. So Nekochan stopped in the middle of the road, and turned around to go buy that CD from the music store (before she forgot the name of the artist). Of course, while there, she ended up buying not one, but three CDs anyway. So what is the point of this story? Well, just now, listening to that song by Loreena McKennitt called "The Mummer's Dance", it reminded Nekochan of a poem she wrote about two years ago, and she felt inspired to write about it here. (The song is so beautiful, it inspired Nekochan not only to dance but also to write...like music that touches the woven soul of creativity).

The other point of this story is that most Martians, given over to logical solutions and organized planning, are usually baffled by this tendency of Venusians to suddenly change and dance, listen, play, look, shop, buy, or whatever because of something that inspired them. Some Martians even categorize Venusians as "emotional" or "incapable of logic" because of this mysterious (crazy?) behaviour. But, to a Venusian, there is always a "logical" reason for anything that may seem infinitely mysterious to a Martian. Perhaps it is this way because, at times, the Venusians may see and hear things that the Martians do not naturally perceive, so only those Martians who learn to listen very well to their Venusian friends are blessed with a glimpse of the beauty the Venusians naturally perceive. It may be very rare for a Martian to glimpse this beauty, however, since most Martians do not naturally just listen....their better talent is in logical planning and finding solutions for their friends.

But for those Martians who may have developed the "inner ear" a little, and for all Venusians, who will naturally understand, here is Nekochan's bit of "spur of the moment" inspiration....Happy Holidays to all!

This music "Mummer's Dance" by Loreen McKennitt, is beautiful beyond words. It speaks of earth and planet and soul, inspiring dance and joy and writing all words of total beauty. Like "dance of life"....like the poem Nekochan wrote a while ago called "Mountain Blood Dance", which has never been shared but will be shared now just because of the sheer inspiration:

              MOUNTAIN BLOOD DANCE (1994/1995?)

              Wind blown sands
              Streaks of lightening
              Shards of broken glass
              Glittering through the mountain pass
              ..
              Billowing sea grasses
              Torrential jungle rains
              Footprints stained with blood
              Shining in the mud
              ..
              Swirling river waters
              Raging hurricanes
              Mountain path of rocks
              Upward, upward mocks
              ..
              Pulsing tribal fires
              Crashing thunder falls
              Clawing through glass and rock
              Escape the ticking clock
              ..
              Sun painted deserts
              Awesome tidal waves
              Instinct upward flows
              Survival heat glows
              ..
              Rainbows in the mist
              Snarling packs of wolves
              Bleeding struggle up
              Passionate dance of life
              ..
