The series which started all way back when. During a global civil war an alien space ship landed on Earth filled with oh so many goodies of technology. The Earth forces unite to develop the technology for defense against hostile aliens. And some hostile aliens in the form of 50 ft giants do arrive and try to battle the untried corps of skilled pilots and staff. During a space fold, the entire Macross island including the civilian shelters is taken into space beyond Plutos orbit. They rebuild their city inside the giant fortress and try to carry on life despite the constant attempts of the Zentraedi to regain the ship.
