The Shampoo Storyline

Shampoo enters in TV episode #15 of Ranma 1/2, and this is how the story goes.....

Shampoo is the best amazonian warrior in her village, Joketsuzoku, in China. One day, during the annual contest to select the strongest warrior. Ranma in girl form(Chan), and his father in panda form , lope into the village. Shampoo had just easily finished defeating all her opponents, when she noticed this intruder having the temerity to eat her prize (a lavish banquet)! When she demanded to know what this girl was doing, Ranma-Chan challenged her. Ranma-Chan beats Shampoo with ease. Well that was a BIG mistake on Ranma's part. Shampoo having no other choice (as it was the Tribal Law) gave Ranma-Chan the Kiss of Death.

Ranma then fled. Wisely so, for by that act Shampoo had just sworn to hunt Ranma-Chan down to the ends of the earth until one of them is killed. And as far as Shampoo is concerned...Ranma-Chan is the only one who will be killed!!! Finally, after months, Shampoo hunt Ranma-Chan down to Japan. Once again Ranma fled. Enraged, Shampoo turned on Akane who helped Ranma-Chan escape. However as she prepared to fight, a stranger stepped in (Akane's fiancee, Ranma in boy form(Kun), who Shampoo believed was also coincidentally called Ranma) and defeated her, alas knocked her out completely! When Shampoo awakens, Ranma-Kun expects another Kiss of Death. Instead Shampoo kisses him and says "Wo Ai Ni"-I love you! Acccording to the Joketsuzoku's Tribal Laws:

Shampoo continue to attempt to kill Ranma-Chan while constantly chasing Ranma-Kun for dates. When Ranma is a boy, she wants him. When he is a girl, she wants him dead. Shampoo will stop at nothing to get Ranma-Kun to take an interest in her. She even tried to get rid of her rivalry, Akane, by using the infamous Formula 110 shampoo to brainwash her. Eventually Ranma-Kun decided things were going too far and showed Shampoo that he is Ranma-Chan. Although she is supppose to kill her, she loves him, so caught by conflicting oaths, she bids a tearful farewell and returned to China.

Shampoo reappeared in TV episode #2 of Season 2, as a kawaii little cat sent through the mail to Ranma from China. Ironically Ranma has a phobia of cats! Fortunately for Shampoo she dosen't care! During Shampoo's return to China, she trained in the Cursed Springs of Jusenkyo and fell into the Spring of the Drowned Cat, Maoniichuan. The Spring of the Drowned Cat is associated with a very tragic story about a cat which drowned there 1800 years ago. Ever since then whoever fall into the spring takes the body of a cat. Shampoo opened a Ramen Shop called the Cat Cafe with her Great-Grandmother, Cologne, on her return to Japan. She also continued to chase Ranma for dates and marriage with Cologne's help (scheming, using herbs, potions, etc) after finding out, in a rather direct way, that Ranma's true form is in fact male.

Unfortunately, Shampoo was followed from China by Mousse from her village. Mousse is as blind as a bat and is a master of hidden weapon, who also works at the Cat Cafe. Mousse is madly in love with Shampoo and his whole world revolves around her. He even tried to propose to her when they were only three, but instead he proposed to a pig. Shampoo did not appreciate being confused with a pig, defeated him. Too bad for Mousse, Shampoo only has eyes for Ranma alone!

Sometime later, sisters LinLin and RanRan from Shampoo's village, followed her from China. They followed her to Japan to help her defeat Ranma-Chan. The only problem is that now Shampoo is defending Ranma. Shampoo end up giving them the kiss of death and fighting ensues. Soon they were told that Ranma-Chan is in fact a boy but they continued harrassing everyone (except Shampoo and Cologne), especially Mousse.
