Mommy's Boy

By

Donny Cheng

	Nodoka smiled as her husband tried unsuccessfully to hide a bouquet of flowers behind his back. She could tell that the flowers were very poor specimens from the wilting petals on the floor by his feet. Kasumi, the dear child, probably put him up to it since she could not see her husband as the sort that would remember these sort of things. However, she was happy all the same.

	Genma breathed a sigh of relief as he say his wife's face lit up. Kasumi had threatened his breakfast if she was not happy. He didn't know what had been scarier. Missing a meal or Kasumi's threatening him.

	Nodoka couldn't wait to spend the day with her son after a wait of ten years. She wondered which of her prospective daughters-in-law would join her today. God knew how many hints she gave her son that she would like to spend some time with them. For a man among men, her son was awfully dense. Some of the girls, she heard, had no mothers to celebrate today with. The poor dears.

	Ranma was worried as he looked at the clock. Wasn't anyone going to take up his invitations? If none of the girls came he won't have a present for his mother.

**flashback**

	"Mother's Day present?" Ranma asked.

	"Yes, Mother's Day present. It's only a couple of weeks away. I'm sure I could loan you enough money for a present." Nabiki was surprised Ranma didn't even think of it himself. Since meeting up with his mother, Ranma has been the perfect son for her.

	The truth was Ranma didn't have a single idea of what his mom liked. He was ashamed to admit that he knew nothing of her likes or dislikes. His father wasn't all that much help. "I don't know what to get her yet, Nabiki. I'll think of something and get back to you."

	Nabiki shrugged. There were other people that needed her 'special' assistance.

	Ranma sat and meditated at the dojo for quite a long time before he could even come up with anything. He remembered all the times that he had seen her happy and felt that other than their reunion, she had been happiest during Valentine's Day when all his friends visited. She seemed to love all his friends like they were her own daughters for some reason. She smiled and laughed the entire day.

	Ranma smiled as he knew what he could give his mother. He quickly prepared some invitations to some of the girls he knew that didn't have any mothers to share the day with. They'll be happy to spend some time with him and his mother. At least he hoped so.

	Akane felt a certain amount of pride as the water she boiled for Kasumi continue the bubble. And Ranma said she could cook. Hah!

	"You guys still aren't done? You two were the ones that said you will have everything prepared for Auntie's special day." Nabiki noticed that nearly every inch of the kitchen was used in making food. "Um... Don't you think it's a bit much for just a few people?"

	"Oh, I think a few people will drop in today. You never know," Kasumi replied knowingly.

	Nabiki sighed. "I guess, I better help you two out then. Or I'll starve to death before you're done."

	Akane stared.  Nabiki cooking?

	Kasumi shook her head at Akane. Nabiki would never admit to getting in the spirit of the holidays. Of the three of them, none missed their mother more than Nabiki did.

	Ukyo fidgeted as she again took her clothes off. It still didn't make her look 'cute' enough. She wanted to give Auntie Nodoka the best impression possible. Looking at the mirror, she finally figured out the problem. Her chest was still bound and her ever present kick ass spatula was at her back. The straps would have to go. Maybe nobody would notice the spatula if she decorated it a bit.

	Cologne watched as her great-granddaughter went off to the spend the day with her husband and his mother. It was good that Ranma's mother seemed to be of more help than hindrance to their cause and Shampoo should take this golden opportunity to be closer to Nodoka. With Mousse back at the village to be with his mother, there wasn't much use opening shop today. Might as well spend the day watching T.V.

	Feeling a little hungry she went over to the kitchen to make some ramen for lunch. When she reached there, she could only shake her head at her great-granddaughters foolishness. On the table was an already made beef bowl. Her favorite. She would have to have a stern talk with Shampoo about picking up the habits of foreigners. Cologne then got up on a chair and ate the steaming bowl of ramen.

	Kodachi fought the urge to reach for the phone and call for the limousine. She absently patted down her dress, hoping that the leotard beneath it wasn't too noticeable. For ten years she spent this day alone. There was no way she was going to ruin it by getting into a fight with those... those harlots. Kodachi smiled. Her reaction to thinking about Ranma-sama's other suitor was a little better this time, she felt.

	Rei and Makoto glanced at each other for encouragement. The both of them stood on the doorsteps to the Tsukino household, not ready to enter yet. They did't know how quite to tell Usagi that they wouldn't be spending Mother's Day with her and her family this year. Rei knew that Usagi meant well, but it just wasn't the same. Mrs. Tsukino was a wonderful woman and took very good care of them whenever they visited, but that only made them both remember what their own moms were like. "So exactly why aren't you joining Usagi's family today, Makoto?"

	"Oh, you know plans. A friend of mine invited me today." Makoto had been dreading to answer that question all day.

	Rei suddenly had a suspicious feeling. "I wouldn't happen to know this 'friend' of yours, would I?"

	Makoto sweated nervously.  "You might."

	"I knew it. Ranma sent an invitation to you too, didn't he?" Rei demanded accusingly."

	"Too? He sent one to you? Why that two-timer," Makoto growled.

	Rei sighed. It was going to be even harder to explain this to Usagi. Ditching her family to join a boy's family.

	Usagi decided then that it was time to stop listening in on her two friends conversation. She opened to door to see two girls ready to bolt and smiling weakly at her. "Go, you two. A mother-in-law is closer to being a real mom than a friend's mom, right? Besides, if you two got invitations, I'm sure he sent some out to others, like Hotaru and Setsuna." Their answering blushes were all the confirmation Usagi needed.

	Makoto smiled gratefully and quickly ran off, with a frantic Rei trying to keep up. Rei paused for just a moment to mouth the words 'thank you'.

	Despite being deserted by her two wayward friends, Usagi was decidedly happy. Her thoughts kept turning to her dresser in her bedroom. On top of it was a card from a 'anonymous person' to her. On the card were words of well wishes to a mother of one. For a little spore, her words were very neat.

			* * * * *

	Emperor Azusa glared at he two glowing wives and the cards each of them were reading. "The children are acting too much like humans. I say we bring them back before any more nonsense get into their heads."

"Father's Day in next month on earth," Misaki pointed out.

	Azusa rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Perhaps I was too hasty. A little more information of Earth could give me some ideas on how to deal with this Tenchi and Washuu matter."

	"You are most wise, my husband," Funaho replied with a totally straight face.

			* * * * *

	Washu's eyebrow twitched as she looked over all the presents in front of the closet/dimensional door. Didn't she tell them that she wanted to be called Washu-chan? She didn't even resemble a mother in the slightest. She'll set them straight. Tomorrow. After all, she was busy with her projects.

			* * * * *

	Tenchi sighed as he tried to calm the girls down. "Please don't fight! Auntie Nodoka won't like it." His aunt, he remembered was a very traditional woman. She often visited him since his mother died. It was funny how she always missed seeing Ranma by a few weeks every time she visited. She was nice to him, very much like how Ranma was. He was happy that his cousin finally reunited with Auntie.

	It was too bad that Washu was too busy. "Did you all remember to leave something for Washu?

	Ryoko knew that that question was directed at her for the most part. "Yeah, yeah. Let's get going already." As if to spite her tone of word, a little twelve year old girl's face popped into her head.

	Ryo-ohki meowed approvingly as Ryoko and Ayeka toned down at Tenchi's words. Able to concentrate now, she picked up speed to meet the woman that sired Ranma.

			* * * * *

	"Who's there?" A blue haired woman asked as she opened the door. Looking down at the door step she noticed a bouquet of flowers. It was from that nice school girl that helped her start her car yesterday. What a thoughtful girl.

	Botan smiled as her reincarnated mother's face lit up. Getting scolded by Koenma would be worth it. She turned and quickly headed towards the Tendo Dojo.

			* * * * *

	Akiko honesty didn't know what she was supposed to do with the rat, the newspaper covered fish, and the card from Ryunosuke that were brought in from the door step of her mansion. She sighed. The girl meant only the best of intentions, Akiko was sure. "Arisa, you can keep the rat. Have the fish brought to the cook. Looks like I'm eating fish tonight. Oh, and prepare the table for four."

			* * * * *

	Morrigan cursed. That brat left her body again. She could feel a part of her soul missing. Lilith probably went and took up Ranma's offer and went to spend the day with him and his mother. That girl was giving evil incarnate a bad name. Morrigan suppose that she would have to go and get her wayward soul and play with Ranma again in the meantime. A Darkstalker as old as she did not need a mother to spend the day with. She absently grabbed some flowers in a vase by her throne before she left of the surface world.

			* * * * *

	Moiraine again tried to reason with the platinum haired goddess in front of her. "Are you sure the Creator authorized this? I've only started goddess training for a couple of months and I don't think I'm due for a day off yet."

	"Trust me. I am a full fledged goddess remember?" Urd winced inwardly as she said this. Probation be damned. No way was she letting Skuld gain Nodoka's favor while she wasn't there.

	Moiraine knew she was fighting a lost cause where Ranma was concerned. A grin so large that threatened to tear her face apart grew slowly grew on her lips unconsciously. His bond to her as her warder gave them both empathic insights into each other's feelings. That boy was in his girl form no doubt, which intensified the empathy. Burn that boy for being a water magnet.

  With their close proximity to the Tendo Dojo, Ranma's feelings were severely messing with Moiraine's own. He must be very happy to be with his mother. She dreaded meeting Nodoka again. Good birthing hips the woman said!

			* * * * *

	"HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!"

	The sound was thunderous in Nodoka's ears. "Thank you, for coming. Ranma, be a dear boy and help me thank each of them for their gifts."

	Ranma sighed as he looked across the room. Half the girls were applying lipstick to their lips and the other half were polishing their various weapons. Getting killed was a small price to pay for his mother's happiness. A very small price.

The End. (maybe)
