Vietnam Recipe for Grilled Beef Roll or Banh Uot Thit Nuong
INGREDIENTS FOR GRILLED BEEF ROLL
- 12 ounces beef (sliced thin)
- 1 stem lemongrass (chopped fine)
- 1/4 cup fish sauce
- 5 steamed rice flour wrappers
- 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
- 1/2 head butter lettuce
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds (toasted)
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves
Ingredients for Dipping Sauce
- 1 cup Yellow Bean Sauce
- 4 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
- 1 tbsp roasted peanuts (chopped fine)
TIP: Rice Flour Wrapper can be purchased ready made from any Vietnamese Asian Grocery store.

This Spicy Beef Stew or Bo Kho recipe is a Vietnamese variation on the traditional Western meal.

To prepare:
- How to make the Dipping Sauce: Combine all the ingredients for the dipping sauce and mix well
- Set aside
- How to make Beef Roll: In a bowl, combine the lemongrass, sugar and fish sauce
- Place pieces of meat into the lemongrass mix and allow to marinade for 30 mins
- Briefly grill meat over broiler till lightly brown (but rare inside)
- Remove from grill or broiler and cut into small pieces
- Place some beef, a little mimnt, basil and lettuce leaves on a rice flour warpper
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and add a cilantro leaf
- Fold to make a parcel, like a spring roll
- Serve with dipping sauce on the side
