Bergedel Goreng or Fried Meat Patties

INGREDIENTS

  • 4oz/ 125g minced meat (any type of meat you prefer)
  • 5 large potatoes (boiled & peeled)
  • 2 tsp butter
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 egg (separted)
  • 1 clove garlic (finely chopped)
  • 6 shallots (sliced & fried crisp)
  • 1 spring onion (chopped)
  • 1 stalk celery (chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp grated nutmeg (buah pala)
  • enough cooking oil for deep frying

    Bergedel Goreng is also excellent as an appetizer dish.

To prepare:

  • Mash potatoes, adding 1 tsp butter to taste.
  • Add in meat, garlic, shallots and remaining butter into mashed potatoes.
  • Repated with remaining ingredients except oil and egg white.
  • Pepper and salt to taste.
  • Heat oil on medium flame.
  • Dip patties in egg white and proceed to deep fry method.
  • When cooked to golden brown, remove and drain well on paper towel.

Serve hot with boiled white rice and other dishes.
