Indian Dessert Recipe for Ground Almonds in Ghee and Milk

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 cup ground almonds
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • fresh mint leaves (garnish)

TIP: You can usually find ground almonds at any local Indian food store.

FYI: If you are vegetarian, you may want to check the ghee before using it. Try getting a vegetarian version of ghee from a specialty store instead.

To prepare:

  • Place the ghee in a small pot
  • Melt the ghee over the low heat, stir slow (do not burn)
  • Reduce the heat, add the flour and stir frequently (remove any lumps)
  • Add ground almonds to the mixture, stir constantly
  • Slow add the milk and sugar, bring everything to a boil
  • Continue to cook for at least 5 mins (or till liquid becomes smooth)
  • Transfer to a serving bowl, garnish with milk
If prefer, you can use coconut milk instead of ordinary milk.
