• Sailor Moon: Destiny of the Stars

  • Chapter 18

    Silver Palace:

The area around the immense palace made of silver was all still, the sky dark and void....then, a moment later, a large and transparent pink bubble appeared on the bottom of the steps that lead to the palace doors. It hovered for just a few seconds, then began to lower on the ground. The ball burst into tiny sprinkles, and when it dissipated, Eternal Sailor Moon and Super Sailor Sirius looked around them in confusion. Their eyes widened with horror as they saw the awful condition of the area they were in. Night had fallen, and instead of lights shining out from the windows of the many buildings surrounding them a few feet from the palace, all was dark and silent. Blackened trees were thrown about as if tossed in the wind, and the sidewalks were nothing more than jagged, broken pieces of granite. As the two continued to look, they could see bodies laying about, all with expression of horror and despair, as though they were running for their lives before they were struck down.

"Where...where are we?" asked Sirius, looking around wildly with wide eyes. Sailor Moon turned to look at her and shook her head sadly, indicating she didn't know any more than Sirius did.

"Oh no! Minako-chan, Rei-chan, Mako-chan...Yaten!" Super Sailor Sirius cried, tears filling her eyes, "Are they all... are they...?" Unable to think of the worst, the shorter senshi wrapped her arms around herself and sobbed quietly as she remembered the scene they were witnessing just before they were mysteriously transported away. The thought of being without her friends, without Yaten, filled Sirius's heart with unbearable sadness.

Sailor Moon gently laid a hand on her shoulder. "I don't know Sirius, they just...might be. But if they did die, we'll avenge their deaths, no matter what!" the senshi leader vowed, her eyes full of determination and anger. She had lost the senshi before to Beryl, then Galaxia, and she'd be damned if she lost them in vain again! Sailor Sirius nodded, and giving a soft smile, wiped away her tears.

The Moon Senshi then turned to look behind her and stared curiously at the palace. She reached behind her to tap the shorter senshi's shoulder, and Sirius turned to look also. Both gasped at the immense size and beauty of the silver looking palace on top of the many stairs leading up to it. There before them was a beautifully designed and elaborate palace. It was similar to the Crystal Palace in Crystal Tokyo, but it was more of a silvery color than crystal, with more towers and elaborate designs and tracings. It had now-withered gardens to the side and down the white and silver walls to the side of the building, and at the top of it was a long pole that had the symbol of Sirius, made out of diamonds and onyx with a curvy "S" in the middle. Like a miracle, the palace had withstood the onslaught of the alien invasion, but it still bore some cracks and broken windows.

"Oh wow, that palace...it's so...beautiful!" whispered Sailor Moon, staring in awe alongside Sirius. The dark-skinned senshi was unable to speak, as just then, memories flooded through her mind. Memories of long ago and happier times, when a palace much like this was a place she called home with a loving mother and father. Tears misted in her eyes as she suddenly remembered leaving it to go to the Moon Kingdom, and feeling in her heart that she would never see it again. Are..are these my memories from the Silver Millennium? Sirius thought, her heart beating fast. Sailor Moon turned to Sirius and gently placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Sirius, are you alright? What's wrong?" She looked at her friend with concerned eyes.

"I...all of this...it seems so...familiar," said Sailor Sirius as she stared at the symbol on top of the pole. "Like it's part of a dream I've had many times. But...why?" Sirius blinked her eyes in confusion at the feelings of familiarity that raged inside her body.

"I think I know why," said Sailor Moon, a small smile tugging at the corner of her mouth. "Sailor Pluto said that Tilly was a princess here, and that she was your daughter. That would only mean that you are Queen of this planet in the future, just as you were the princess during the Silver Millennium." Moon once again looked to the symbol and nodded.

Sirius's eye widened as she gasped in shock. Her, the Queen of this planet? No way! The Star Senshi blushed and looked down to her feet, then looked back up at Sailor Moon with sad eyes "No, there must be some kind of mistake. I..I can't be the Queen of anything!" She started counting off all her faults one at a time on her fingers. "I can't even make up my mind on decisions half the time, I'm always daydreaming, I'm always late for school, I hardly have any discipline, I'm a little clumsy, and I'm...I'm.."

"Perfect for the job!" smiled Sailor Moon. When Sailor Sirius looked at her with surprised eyes, the blonde girl took her hands in her own. "I know exactly how you feel. When I first found out about being Neo-Queen Serenity, I thought it was a big joke on me too. I didn't think I could live up to it....you know, with me being a major ditz head I was, as Rei would put it." She chuckled. "But Luna and the others taught me that if I try real hard, and believe in myself, then I'll become a great Queen, just like I know you will be." Sailor Moon smiled and squeezed Sirius hands gently. "But it's all up to you." she finished.

Sailor Sirius smiled back after a moment and nodded slightly. "Sailor Moon, thanks," she said, her heart a little lighter. She then took a deep breath and turned back to the palace. "Alright, Sailor Pluto must have sent us here. I think it's so we can find Tilly. If my instincts are correct, I think we can find her in there," Sirius pointed up the steps to the golden gates.

"Right, let's go!" agreed Sailor Moon. Both girls headed to the tall hill of stairs, and just as they were about to reach it, a loud blast of energy racing over their heads from behind them struck the ground right before them.

When the dust settled, the two senshi looked behind to see about a dozen Vishtri soldiers walking up to them, their eyes glowing and full of malice. "Hold it right there!" growled out the leader of the patrol. His red tongue flickered out of his green mouth as he raised his immense laser gun at them.

"You two are trespassers. Prepare to die." he hissed out. He cocked his powerful gun and prepared to fire along with the rest of the soldiers. Sirius and Moon could only scream in surprise and wait for the deadly blasts to reach them.

But it never happened; anew voice shouted, "URANUS, SPACE TURBULANCE!" Suddenly, the air around the Vishtri soldiers shimmered as the space around them was distorted. Without warning, the Visthris' bodies imploded, their death screams echoing loudly across the night sky. Seconds later, two figures walked out from the shadows, and when they came into view, Sailor Moon and Sirius gasped in shock. The figures looked exactly like Sailors Neptune and Uranus, but there were a few differences; they looked slightly older, and the Uranus look-alike's hair was a few inches longer, down slightly pass her neck. A darker shade of pink lipstick also adorned her mouth, and the heart on her choker was now a star. The one resembling Neptune also looked older, and still had a elegant air about her. Her hair was also longer...down to the middle of her back and a darker blue tinge. Her lipstick was a darker blue-green also, and gave her a slightly sensuous look. Both were wearing a microphone headset with a small visor window over their left eye.

"Who are you, and what are you doing..?" The one looking like Uranus paused and blinked her eyes, "Sailor...Moon? Sirius?" she asked, walking closer.

"Sailor Neptune, Sailor Uranus?" said Sirius in a shocked voice. "But...we left you back there, and you got hurt!" Her eyes widened in astonishment as she looked back toward the forest, then back at the two women.

"Oh my gosh, you must be Future Sailor Uranus and Neptune!" cried Sailor Moon happily...but her smile faded when she saw the stern and displeased look of the two senshi of the future.

"You are NOT supposed to be here!" snarled Future Uranus, looking at both girls with indignation. "How in all of Crystal Tokyo did you get here?" Her tone was so angry, that Sirius and Moon stepped back slightly before they answered.

"It's a long story, please don't be angry!" said Sirius, her voice trembling. "But we don't have time explain. We have to get in that palace to save Tilly. She's in there, all alone and afraid! I HAVE to go to her!" Sirius fixed pleading eyes on the two women.

"NO! You're not even supposed to BE here! This is all wrong! You're going to get yourself killed! Do you think you can just..." But before Future Uranus could finish venting off, the silent night was interrupted by the sound of pounding boots. They looked behind them and saw a whole barrage of Visthri soldiers running up, complete with guns and other weapons unidentified to them. The weapons were very well known to future Neptune and Uranus though, and they grunted with frustration under their breathe.

"Go on, we'll hold them off!" shouted Future Neptune. Her partner gave her a surprised look, but the Sea Senshi of the future just nodded her head. "But don't think this is a favor, make no mistake on that," she whispered to them dangerously. The two women stepped up to one another, then turned around until they stood back to back. They reached behind them and held onto each other hands, and intertwined their fingers. Closing their eyes, they concentrated, their hair flying wildly about them in an unfelt wind. A few seconds later, a bluish green aura surrounded Future Sailor Neptune. Then, a dark blue aura glowed about the body of the Future Sailor Uranus. There was a burst of white light, and suddenly, the auras turned into beams of turquoise and dark blue. They came together in the air, then curved downward and slammed into the ground. A long, unbroken fissure cracked in the ground all around in front of the steps and raced along to go all the way in the back of the Silver Palace. Then, another bright flash occurred, this time from the ground. A blue and green force field sprang up from the fissure line and surrounded the area along with the castle, sealing off the Visthri soldiers from the grand building along with Sirius and Moon. They stopped just short of running into it, but one wasn't so lucky. As soon as the alien touched it, he screamed as his body was disintegrated into black dust. When the rest of the soldiers saw this, they all screamed and roar in frustration, and raised their weapons high in the air.

"Come on, that's our cue!" said Sailor Moon, pulling on Sirius's arm. Sirius stared fascinated at the two Future Senshi for a moment, then ran off behind Sailor Moon. WOW! I can't believe how strong Uranus and Neptune are going to be in the future! Sirius thought excitedly. I hope I'll be that strong too...

Both ran with high speed to the top of the stairs, and pushed against the immense gold gate. To their surprise, the gate's door easily swung open. They ran and reached the blasted doorway and dashed inside. The girls were met with a darkness and chill that ran up their spine, but still they ran on, turning corners and twists and turns in the long and immense hallways.

"Shimatta, this is like a maze! We'll never find Tilly like this!" growled out Sailor Moon, sweat pouring down her face as she breathed hard.

"SHHH!" whispered Sirius, putting a finger to her lips as she stopped. "Do you hear that?" Both girls listen hard, and sure enough, there was the sound of sobbing coming from somewhere. The girls turned to the right and spied a darkened hallway they had not seen. "It's Tilly, and it sounds like she's down there somewhere!" Sirius said softly. Moon nodded, and both tiptoed down the dark corridor towards the room with large, brass double doors. As they got closer, the sobbing grew louder and louder. A second later, there was a smacking sound, and the sobbing stopped after a choked cry. Sailor Moon and Sirius pushed against the doors, and it swung open with ease. When they stepped inside, their eyes widened at the sight before them; in the middle of the large room, Sailor Chibi Sirius lay on the floor inside a cage with bars made out of laser lights. Her right cheek was swollen, as though she had been struck. Behind her, there were two structures that could only be described as thrones on a raised platform with short steps leading up to them. The thrones were made out of gold and onyx and made to look like the legendary Phoenix with claws as the chair feet and mighty gold wings as the backs of the thrones. Three crystal chandeliers hung from the high black ceiling, and a high balcony with a intricately designed banister went around the whole semi-circular room. Floating in front of the thrones were two large crystal casings, and the outline of a body in each of them shone through. "Chibi Sirius!" cried Sailor Sirius She dashed forward to the little girl.

"Sirius, WAIT!" said Sailor Moon, running after her.

Sailor Sirius dropped to her knees as soon as she reached the cage, and was about to touch it when Sailor Moon laid a hand on her shoulder and stopped her. The laser beam bars hummed and crackled with electric energy, and Sirius knew then that if she would have touched it, she'd have died. She looked up at Eternal Sailor Moon with gratitude, then back at the little girl in the cage. "Chibi Sirius, can you hear me? Chibi Sirius, PLEASE! Wake up!" the Star senshi cried. Tears now flowed freely down her dark face. The little girl only lay there, unmoving and seeming not to breath. "Oh no!" Sirius whispered, her heart beginning to break. But just then, Chibi Sirius turned her head, and painfully and slowly opened her eyes to look at the crying Sirius senshi.

"Sailor...Sirius?" the child whispered hoarsely. She looked up to see Sailor Moon standing behind her. "Sailor Moon! You...you came!" Chibi Sirius tried to smile, but only winced in pain from her swollen cheek and lips.

"Yes, we came, and we're going to get you out of here!" Sailor Sirius said with joy, smiling brightly at the little girl. She stood up and was about to call upon her scepter to try and break the cage, when Chibi Sirius suddenly gasped and her face filled with terror. "What's the matter...?" Sailor Sirius was barely able to finish her sentence when she and Sailor Moon were suddenly grabbed around their throats, picked up high, and thrown heavily against the wall to the side. Both screamed as their bodies slammed into the hard marble wall. It felt like every bone in their body was broken from the harsh impact. For a few moments, they just lay there, moaning painfully.

"Well, what have we here? Some uninvited guests? How rude!" hissed out a deep, gravelly voice. Three deep voices chuckled, and out of the shadows stepped three gigantic figures. Sirius lifted her pain-filled head and looked to see O'mashki, Va'trini, and another Vishtri she did not recognize walking up to her and Sailor Moon. The taller one, obviously the leader of the two, stepped forward ahead of the others and stopped before Sirius. He looked down at her with eyes filled with contempt, and clasped his hands behind his back.

"Get up, human." he ordered, his voice soft, yet cold. Sirius tried to move her arms and legs, but her aching body protested, and she grimaced in pain. Sha'krani narrowed his eyes, bent down, and grabbed Sailor Sirius by her throat. "I said GET UP!" Sha'krani shouted. He picked Sirius up from the floor to meet his face. Sirius screamed in pain, and Sha'krani looked deep into her eyes as her feet dangled in mid-air.

"Good. I like to hear you scream. I like to hear all humans scream." smirked the Vishtri captain. O'mashki and Va'trini cackled in the back, while Sailor Moon, struggling to get up, looked at the scene with horror filled eyes. "I am Sha'krani, and I am the one who will bring about the destruction of your kind," Sha'krani eyes glowed slightly. "For all your advances, for all your so-called technology, you humans are so very obsolete. You are weak, dependent...flawed. I now deem you unworthy to exist, and sentence you to death. Prepare yourself to die," Sha'krani spread out his fingers, and implanted steel nails grew out of his knuckles. "Die with dignity," He raised his hand and prepared to slash down. Blinded by the bright light that filled the room from Chibi Sirius's power, O'mashki and Va'trini didn't see as the little girl rushed over to where Sailor Sirius sat on her knees, her palms to the floor and breathing heavily. Chibi Sirius stood next to her quietly, her mind hopeful that soon, this nightmare will end.

After a moment, Sailor Sirius snapped her head up to look at the three Vishtri aliens, her eyes narrowed. These aliens must be stopped before they destroyed all that is good in the Universe, and there was only one way she could do it. If it meant she had to to die, then so be it. "We're...we're not the ones that are weak and flawed! You are!" she lashed out, anger setting in her heart. She painfully got up and placed both her hands over the opal set in the middle of her bow as tears flowed down her cheeks once more. "And now, I will put an end to the crimes you've committed against me and my friends, plus countless others you have destroyed! As sure as the Star that shines brightest in the Heavens, I am Sailor Sirius, and you WILL be vanquished!" The opal glowed a bright green color, then morphed into the Sirius Emerald Star Stone. It glowed brightly for a few moments, then floated forward from Sirius's bow and hovered above her hands as she held them out.

"Sailor Sirius, NO!" screamed out Sailor Moon. Her eyes were wide with fright as she stood up. If the Star Stone was as powerful as the Ginzuishou, then there was a strong possibility Sirius would die, just as she had when she fought Queen Beryl in that fateful battle in the North Pole.

"It's alright Sailor Moon," Sailor Sirius smiled sadly. "Remember what you told me; just believe in yourself," She nodded, and turned to the Visthri aliens before her, ready to fight, and ready to die.
