That night, Serena couldn’t fall asleep. She kept thinking about her little
conversation with Jeremy, and how she would get herself out of that tiny 
predicament. At two o’clock a.m., she could no longer keep her eyelids 
open, slowly falling into sleep.

*************
the next morning........................

Serena awoke to see, the bright sunlight shining down on her and her bed, 
she turned to see what time it was. Realizing that if she didn’t get up 
right at that moment, and take the shortest shower in the world, she would 
be totally late for school. After getting ready she rushed downstairs, only
to be greeted by a *very* unhappy face.

"Serena what took you so long!!!! Now we’re going to be late for school!!"

"You know Darien, you could have left without me," Serena replied with an 
unamused look on her face.

"Yah right, and let you *walk* to school? If I did that, you would be 
lucky to get to school by lunch!!!"

"Okay you two!!!! Would you please stop arguing???? At least if you want 
to argue do it on the way to school not at the foot of my stairs!" yelled 
Serena’s father, annoyed by their constant bickering.

They made it to school with barely any talking, except when he questioned 
how she did on her project yesterday.

"So, did you finish the little project you had yesterday?"

"Huh? What project???"

"Hello, the project that you had to do at the park or something, which you 
borrowed my car for????"

"Oh yah, that project! Oh, yah, it’s um..... it’s fine......."

"What’s it about anyways?"

"Since when did you become intrested in my school life???"

"Well excuse me!! I was just starting up a little friendly conversation 
but I guess it’s impossible for us to talk without fighting!!!!"

After a few minutes of silence, Serena finally spoke up.

"Look Darien, I didn’t mean to be rude or anything, but the past few days 
have been really hectic for me. I just need a little time to think right 
now, k? I’m sorry I snapped at you like that, I guess I should be grateful 
that I’m sitting in a car right now instead of walking," Serena said with 
a smile.

After that was said, silence filled the car, each lost in their own 
thoughts............

 Serena wondered how she was going to break 
the news to him........

The day seemed to go by so slowly for Serena, she spent her breaks and most
of her lunch time looking for Jeremy, with absolutely no luck whatsoever!!!
As she made her way to her last class of the day, which was English, A 
strong pair of hands grapped her from behind, one around her waist, and 
one clapped on her mouth to prevent her from screaming, she was pulled 
into a room that was completely dark..................

A light switch suddenly came on, and the attacker loosened his grip on her.She whirled around and found herself face to face with a handsome man.

"Jeremy, why did you do that for????"

"I wanted to see you but............"

"But you didn’t want Leesie to see you with me, am I right" Serena 
finished for him.

"Well, I’m still officially with her, and I don’t want her to be mad at 
me.........."

"Oh yah? What about me, and *my* boyfriend seeing us, huh? He’s the really 
jealous type, and if he found out, he would *kill* you!!! Anyways, I have 
to go to class." Serena wanted to make a quick exit before he asked any 
questions about her nonexistant boyfriend.

"Serena wait." Jeremy grabbed her wrist and pulled her close to him. "Can 
you come to the fair with me today like at 5:00 or something." Serena was 
about to say no, but his eyes seemed to put her under a spell, and she 
agreed.

"Ok, I’ll go, but I have to go to class now okay?"

"Not without a kiss you don’t." and with that, his lips locked with hers, 
and stayed that way for what seemed like an eternity to both of them. 
Jeremy reluctantly let go. "So I’ll meet you at the ticket booth at 5:00 
okay?"

Serena seemed to still be dazed by the kiss, only nodding as an answer.

Serena sat on the neon colored bench as she waited. 

Just then, she found Jeremy, running towards her.
"I’m so sorry I’m late, but I had um..... some car troubles."

"Jeremy, I think you should know one thing."

"And what might that be?" he asked nervously.

"Fortunately you weren’t given the gift of lying, cause when you lie, or 
should I say attempt to lie, your eye sort of twitches so it’s pretty easy 
to tell when your lying..."

"Ok ok. I was talking to Leesie on the phone, and I had to make up an 
excuse so I could come meet you....."
