Serena sat under a tree
that was across the her classroom. She was sobbing quietly to herself, and
didn’t even hear the approaching footsteps.
"Hey Sere, you alright?" Tommy asked with concern evident in his voice.
"Sere, you shouldn’t waste your tears on him, he’s just an inconciderate
jerk who happens to be good looking." Mina added, trying to get Serena to
smile.
After a few moments of silence, Serena spoke up.
"I knew that he didn’t like me, but of all people why does he have to like
Raye?!?!" Sernea whined. "No offense Tommy...." she added in his expense.
"None taken."
"Okay, tonight you are going to come to my house for a sleep over, and
you’re going to have *fun* and forget all about Darien, k?" Mina said.
Serena sighed, but agreed. Together they made their way back to class
before they got detention.

By the time they returned, the little game of Truth or Dare was already
over. Serena’s eyes were no longer puffy and red with the help of a little
makeup. Serena couldn’t look at anyone in the eye, especially Darien, in
fear that she would run out of the room again. Luckily, there was only ten
minutes left in class, which Serena spent reading the same word in the
book that she was supposedly reading.

"I mean, come on what does Raye have that I don’t? Besides the obvious
good looks, allure, and not to mention her popularity rate is way up there.
..." Serena said to Mina.
Serena and Ami were having a sleepover at Mina’s house, mainly to boost
Serena’s confidence a little. The girls were sprawled across Mina’s room,
potato chips, popcorn as well as beauty magazines scattered across the
floor.
"Gosh, Sere don’t be so hard on yourself. There is absolutely nothing
wrong with you, and you shouldn’t compare yourself to Raye." Mina said
"Why, because I won’t measure up?"
"No, because you two are different and it’s not like you don’t have great
qualities too Serena," Ami said soothingly.
"All right all right. I give up. Everytime I say something negative about
myself, you two always have something better than what I say, so I’ll just
save all my whining for another pig-out fest." Serena anounced exasperated.
"Finally, the Queen of Whining decides to spare us!" Mina said jokingly
"Yah yah, I would say something back, but i’m to depressed."
"Since there is obviously nothing to do in this boring room of Mina’s, I
suggest we do a makeover for Serena," Ami suggested with a mischeivious
smile on her face.
"Yah!! I love makeovers! You’ll look absolutely gorgeous after we’re
through with you." Mina exclaimed happily.
"All right, as long as you guys promise nothing to outrageous or
eccentric." Serena said tiredly.
An hour, a bottle of hairspray, and tons of makeup later, Serena, Mina and
Ami take a look at their finished product.
"Oh my GOSH!! What did you guys do to my hair?!?! Did you guys purposely
want me to look like a clown?" Serena said with disbelief as she stared at
her own reflection.
"Well, the magazine says that with a little hairpray and a little teesing,
your hair can have the volume that you’ve always dreamed of." Mina stated
"Let me see that thing!" Serena said as she snatched the magazines from
Mina’s hands.
"Your right, it does say that, but your forgetting two little things."
Serena said
"What?" Mina asked timidly but curious
"First of all, the key words in here are A LITTLE, you used a whole bottle
of hairspray, I don’t think that’s their definition of a little. Second, I
don’t want volume, and I have never dreamed of wanting volume!!!" Serena
said just before she burst out laughing.
Ami and Mina started at her incredulously.
"What’s so funny?" Ami finally asked cautiously.
"I just.. I just noticed that I could probably be an extra for the Barnum
and Bailey Circus. I could be introduced as half Bride of Frankentsein and
half the scariest clown in the world!!"
As Serena was laughing hysterically, she didn’t even notice Mina taking a
picture of her..........
