Swallow is not a bird (as you can tell from the picture, she is a person)^_^. Swallow is an orphan, who grew up by wondering around Beijing city and *taking* whatever she could find. Swallow is warm, caring and she knows a little bit of Kun-Fu! Swallow, is not her real name, but she has never met her parents (we will have to assume that her name is Swallow). She was the one that was accidentally titled as Huan Zhu Ge Ge. In ancient China, all of the royalties have titles. It's kind of the same as the British royalty. You know dukes, duchess, and etc. She never got much education in her 19 years (considering that she is an orphan and her days are spent trying to fill her stomach). She can't write, read or make poems very well. In ancient China well-educated people can make up poem and rhythms and they usually talk in proverbs, which are usually in groups of four characters. *note* because I have watched Huan Zhu Ge Ge so many times, I learned most of my proverbs from here! Therefore watching HZGG is pretty educational too! At least that's what I tell my parents! hehehe!
*Note* I fell that I need to mention the actress and actors that play each of the characters. The actress that plays Swallow is Zhao Wei, who became an over night star because she played Swallow in Huan Zhu Ge Ge. She is now starring in many other films. If you wanna know more about her,just click!
