6 eggs
2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1 can sweetened condensed milk
2 teaspoons pure vanilla flavoring
1 1/2 quarts scalded milk
Ice and/or ice cream salt for freezing, if needed
Separate eggs, and beat the yolks. Mix flour and sugar together and add to beaten egg yolks. Add the condensed milk and vanilla flavoring. Beat the egg whites and fold into the mixture. Heat milk, but do not boil! Slowly stir the mixture into the scalded milk. Add fruit if desired. Freeze and eat!
1 pound cake or angel food cake, or ladyfingers
1 large package instant vanilla pudding mix
2 cups milk (to make pudding)
1 cup or basket fresh strawberries
1 cup or basket fresh blueberries
1 8 oz. carton whipped topping or 2 cups whipped cream
Blend instant vanilla pudding mix with the 2 cups milk, beating with wire whip or electric mixer for approximately 2 minutes, until thickened. Set aside. Wash and stem strawberries and blueberries. Save 3 or 4 large strawberries with stems to place on top. Prepare whipping cream or open carton of whipped topping. Cut pound cake into slices, and break into pieces (or tear angel food cake into pieces).
In trifle bowl, or other large bowl, layer cake pieces (or ladyfingers), pudding, strawberries, whipped cream (or topping), and blueberries. Continue until all is used, but save enough whipped cream or topping to cover entire top. Place 3 or 4 strawberries carefully on top. You may also add very small American flags on top for decoration. If you've never had this, try it! It's scrumptious!
2 pints strawberries
1 pound cake (10 or 11 oz. or --- try 16 oz. for a true "pound cake"!) - Sara Lee® works great. If frozen, thaw. Cut into 10 slices.
1 1/3 cups blueberries, divided
1 8 oz. container whipped topping, thawed (Cool Whip®)
Slice 1 cup of the strawberries and set aside. Halve remaining strawberries; set aside. Line the bottom of a 12x8-inch baking dish with pound cake slices. Top with 1 cup sliced strawberries, 1 cup of the blueberries and all of the whipped topping (last, on top).
Place strawberry halves and remaining blueberries on whipped topping to creat an American flag design. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Makes 15 servings.
