STITCHER'S BITS & BIOS

Hi my name is Margaret, Im 34, (35 in August) live in New Zealand and a S.A.H.M of 2 children - Aidan 5 (now at school)and Nadia 19 months(enjoying the new found freedom of walking). My husband runs his own computer business from home. As well as the humans there are all the animals - my 2 black labradors - Ben & Zoe and my 8 cats - Harwood, Gato, Zeb, Scruffy, Rua, Milo, Misty and Possum, a large aviary of birds and a pond full of tame fish. I love and live cross stitch. I was fine before I found the internet. I would just stick to one project till it was finished.Now Ive been corrupted. I have more patterns than I know what to do with, so many different types of threads, fabrics, blending filament and beads. My favourite designs are from Lavender & Lace, Teresa Wentzler, Mirabilia, Paula Vaughan, Thomas Kinkade and James Himsworth. I have several designs from each and then there is the rest. I have several WIP so I use the rotation method to do my stitching. Well try too. When Im not stitching, I am trying to organize my stash, shopping for stash or surfing the net looking for more cross stitch sites. Oh well such is life........

I also belong to a round robin. I plan to put my angel on white 18ct aida. I think(so far anyway) that I will be doing the whole pattern. Greetings ladies from Long Island, New York!! My name is Dee and I'll be seeing the big 40 on 10/8. I'm married and have two wonderful boys ages 10 and 8. The newest member to the family is our four footed baby, "Shadow", a 10 month old black Lab mix. We adopted him from Bide-A-Wee and trust me when I say he is the boys' shadow. I have been doing needlework since the age of 11. Started with crewel embroidery and have worked on many needlepoints (my favorite), candle wicking, plastic canvas and cross stitch projects. I don't have a favorite designer but I love Precious Moments, Angels, Disney, Peanuts Gang, Hummel and holiday designs. I'm now joining the other ladies and attempting the Cross Stitch Angel!! Have many unfinished/not even started needlework projects, but, I keep telling my DH, they are for my future!! Besides collecting stitching projects (LOL), Hummels and Beanie Babies with the boys, I am a Cubsout Den Leader for two dens and teach religion at our church on Saturday mornings. Hi, my name is Mary C. I live in Grand Prairie, Texas. I am 46 and was born on 12/19. I have been married this June 30 for 27 years. I have a wonderful DH, Billy, and two sons, Shannon age 25 and Phillip age 24. We have three dogs, Smokee (black miniature poodle),Bandit and Bebe (schnauzer) and a solid white cat (19 years old)named Snoopy. I have been cross stitching the last 15 years. I love doing Paula Vaughn patterns and Precious Moments and anything that strikes my fancy. I have always made all of my gifts - baby, wedding,graduation, Christmas and anything else that was needed throughout the years. I do all of my framing so this makes gift giving a little less expensive. Over the last year, I have been cross stitching things for my house and have been thoroughly enjoying myself. I am so excited about the CSA angel and can't wait everyday to check the board. I work full time and do Mary Kay part time. I always say my stitching is my STRESS buster! I could stitch day and night. I just love the board and am very thankful that I found it and all the wonderful friends on the board.

Hi everyone, my name is SueT as you know me. My B/D is November 28 and I will be 59 this year. I live in Emden, Illinois with dh who is a minister of the Christian Church here, (now don't anyone say we have to be careful now, that is silly...DH was a marine for 25 years before he went to bible college so you see we have been around about anything so please don't be carful, I like to have fun toooooo sometime too much....lol Anyway, back to my bio..I have been stitching since about 1978 when I worked in cross stitch shop on Whidbey island, Washington . Would you believe I did not want to learn because I hated the stamped x stitch, but I had to learn to help the customers...well I imediately got hooked and have been stitching since. I have done about everything Precious moments, hummels, samplers, I just discovered the world of designers in the last 6 months. TW, L&L,are the two I look at most but my world has broadened listening to all of you...I have given a lot of what I have done away, but I will post some of my work on my site one of these days. We have 3 grown sons and 6 grandkids, live 5 miles from 2 of them and babysit a lot, but I love it... Well I really feel as if I really fit in here, I have come to think of all of you as my new best friends I hope you don't mind. I want to thank Bev for starting this web page and BB's and all the long hours she puts in. And we all think of you and your family as you work thru your hard times...SueT

I recently reset my priorities and have started X-stitching again after a long break. I claim a 10 year temporary insanity. Hello, my name is Heather. I was born on 9/2/74 in Topeka, KS where I still live. IM single with no kids, unless you count my two beautiful cats; Luvi and Duvi... I work full time as a table games dealer at a local casino...I'm new to the Internet but have been stitching since I was about 12 years old. I come from an entire family of stitchers! Since I'm fairly new to this I don't really have a preference of designers, up until now I've mostly done kits. I love to stitch cats, angels, and wildlife. I must say the Internet has broadened my horizons to many wonderful new ideas...The angel of cross stitch is my first project from scratch and I'm having a great time getting to know everyone that is doing the project!!

My name is Celina I live and work in Round Rock, TX. Just on the outskirts of Austin. My birthday is 11/21/72 and I will be 27 this year. I have a wonderful boyfriend, Robert and we are planning to get married in a couple of years. Robert has a beautiful daugher Emily who is 8 and she just can't wait for us to be married. I have been stitching since I was about 10 years old and Emily has started to have an interest in it as well. Robert also does cross stitch, but he isn't into it as much as I am. He will put in about 5 stitches and then won't pick it back up again for a couple of months. I would love to stitch all day and night, it only I had the opportunity. Hi y'all. My name is Doris (known lately as Granny).I was born on Aug. ll, 1928 so although I will only admit to age 70, I soon will turn 71. I am a widow (for nearly 16 years now), have 7 children (5 boys ages, 44, 42, 41 and 40; and 2 girls ages, 43 and 34). Whoops, I see I left out one boy, can you blame me with so many. The one I left out is Chris, the light of my life. He is 36. I am originally from New York City. My husband was career Army. We married in 1952 and travelled all over the States and Germany. He had 2 tours to Viet Nam and passed away in 1983 as a full Colonel. We were living here in Fairfax , VA when he died so the kids and I have remained here. It's been 34 years now. I also have 10 grandchildren, including 2 sets of twins, and one 8 month old great granddaughter. I have been xstitching for about 20 years now. It is the only crafty thing I am capable of doing. My other passions are reading and grandchildren. I am so grateful to Bev for setting up this BB. I consider all of you my friends and hope it will continue this way for a long, long time.

My favorite designers are JustNan, Theresa W, and Precious Moments. I also love to stitch Snowmen and Angels. I love to collect patterns, porcelain dolls, and bears. I am also an avid reader. I can't wait to finish my Angel. I have almost collected all of the floss for this project. (Thanks to Michaels!) I am stitching on 14 ct. Aida (very light yellow). I am glad I found this site!

Hi everyone. My name is Donna and I am 32 dob 6/1.I live in Rhode Island with my dh Scott and our two boys Jonathan 6 and Daniel 5. We have a Scottie named MacLeod and two Zebra finch named Desi and Lucy. I have been stitching for about 3 years and truly love it. Next to mysteries and chocolate it is my favorite past time. I also have stitched mostly from kits so am not familiar with many designers. I am on my way to collecting all the colors of DMC floss. I have just begun to stitch in rotation and really like it; no guilt attached when I put something down. I am a stay at home mom, so some days I have a lot of time to stitch. I see some names from other boards and feel right at home. I am quickly becoming addicted to xstitch boards as well as the Internet. Hope to "see" you all soon.

My name is Wendy Jo N. I am 32 years old (b-d 1/12/67) and have been married since June 13, 1992 to my wonderful hubby Eric. We have no children, just one very spoiled cat! I work as an admin. asst. at a CPA firm here in Wisconsin. I started stitching 15 years ago, got away from it and fell back in love with it 8 years ago and haven't put my needle down since! I tend to stitch all sorts of things. Some of my favorite designers are Bent Creek, Lizzie Kate, Ewe & Eye & Friends, Sweetheart Tree and many more. I stitch mostly on linen but will pull out the Aida too! I stitch anything that catches my eye! I have been known to pull "all nighters" just stitching away! I try to stitch between 3 to 4 hours each evening. I also take a cross stitch shop trip each year. I pick a state where there are a number of shops in a given area, map out my route and away I go! I've been to Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and Tennessee. I collect snowmen, hearts and just started thimbles. I have really come to love this board Bev created and look forward to our gathering in KC in June of 2000!

Hi All, My name is Andrea G. W,aka: XStitch12, I am 40 yrs. old, my B/D October 12, 1958. I have been married for 9 years(May 28th) to Mike. We don't have any kids, we have Dogs....(2) PUGS,Whiskey & Shadow. We live in Fords, NJ. I have been stitching for 15 years,(with much pleasure)!!! I became disabled 5 yrs. ago, when Mike & I had a little accident with his Harley, When you are the passenger you take ALL the BUMPS, which is what happened to me,we hit a HOLE on the road 4inches deep, going 35 miles an hour...., I "Blew-up" one of my discs in my back,which led to 4 surgeries (I now have a Spinal Cord Stimulator) implanted in my back,"for the rest of my life" to help with the pain,sometimes. As you can tell by my e-mail address, I LOVE "Counted Cross Stitch" because it helps me "forget" about my pain. When I am stitching I have no worries, everything else is "secondary" to MY STITCHING!!!!! I like several designers; Lizzie*Kate,Just Nan,Bent Creek,Mirabillia,Shepherds Bush,and many others. I am now working on a KIT from Janlyn called, "Bamboo Panda" for my Mom, who LOVES Oriental things.

My name is Danielle, 26 years old (10/17 b-day), married to Ian for just 1yr although we've been together for 10! Taught myself to stitch in college after seeing a friend working on one. I don't have a particular designer that I prefer, I just stich what I like. No kids (yet) or pets(DH allergic), but I do have an 11 yr old sister and several nieces and nephews so I have plenty of parenting experience! I am a HUGE Disney fan, especially Pooh and Dopey. I work as a Sr. Financial Administrator for a large company and am currently going to school to get a Masters degree in Business Administration.

Hello, my name is Marje Y. (short for Marjorie). I'm 66 and have been stitching since I was eight. I started with stamped embroidery and my first counted cross stitch picture, made in 1970, hanging on my kitchen wall. I am married for 45 years and have 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren - ages 1-18. I am working part-time but plan to retire in a couple weeks. We have a cat in our household but say "cat" softly because she thinks she is a dog. Follows my husband around just like our miniature schnauzer used to. I have 6 sisters and got all of them interested in cross stitch. I also enjoy needlepoint and knitting. I don't really have a favorite designer. I usually look for a chart that appeals to me or would look good in a particular place in my home or to give as a gift. However, I have done 6 MLI angels and have several more of her designs that are on my "to do" list. I have been reading this BB for a couple months and have learned some new things even though I have been stitching most of my life. Thank you.

My name is Pati P. and my birthday is March 10,1961 so I'm 38 years old. I grew up outside of Buffalo, N.Y. I met my husband while on an exchange program in Mexico. We were married in Dallas in 1986 (13 years now) but soon after we moved to Veracruz to help out with the family businesses and here we've been for the past 12 (!!!!)years. I'm a SAHM and have three children; Joey is 10, Ana is 9, and my "baby", Laura, just turned 6. I should also mention my "first born", Chispa, my 14 year old cat I brought with me from Texas. I started xstitching in college when I saw a roommate stitching instead of studying. I did not realize all that I was missing in the stitching world though until I got a computer and learned about designers, LNS, etc. What we have here is VERY limited but I still find enough to keep me busy! I have just started working on the CSA and have to get started on my millenium Last Stitches of 1999 soon so I can say they WERE my last stitches!

Hello, my name is Christi F. I am 26 born 01-05-73. I live in a small town in Nebraska with my DH Doug and my 5 year old daughter Megan, who is starting school this coming Thursday! I'm not to excited about it though. :) Oh yeah and we have a 5 month old cat named Blue. I am currently working on a couple of projects. One is a bear sweatshirt for my daughter by Leisure Arts and the other is The Seasons of Angels by Good Natured Girls. I really don't have a favorite designer but enjoy cross stitching Cutesy things like Angels and Bears. I don't know many people where I live that cross stitch so I am looking forward to more information on the trip to KC next year! Hope to get to know you all better! What a great and friendly board.

Hi! my name is Pam and I am from Ravenswood, West Virginia, a lovely small town on the Ohio River. I love to cross-stitch (it is my stress relief) and finding the bulletin boards, auctions, and cross-stitch sites on the net has broadened my knowledge of this craft and increased my desire for more "stash" . I have been cross-stitching for about 13 years and prefer aida cloth. I love Bent Creek and Lizzie Kate designs, funny little sayings and anything Halloween. I also tole paint and do wood crafts. I have 2 children, ages 12 (boy) & 13 (girl) and am very happily married. I am a social worker for a local Head Start- (pre-school) program. I am trying to rotate projects while doing the angel -- she is the largest thing I have ever attempted. I am currently "hunting' for a good LNS after hearing so many things from other stitchers about the excellent shops that they have found.
