These poems were written especially for my page by Mike Conner, who truly has a way with words.
doubts remorse
when doubts surrounds
and want seems such an ache
that need takes second place
and night becomes a friend
in whose arms we need not defend
our solitary, unwanted state
the days blur and slip by
the summers bright sun and
ignores our cry of loneliness
and does not seek us out
in the shadows of the night
for in wrapping ourselves
in our darkness and in hiding
our being away for our living....
who will find us there?
if all we can see is what is past
and the only company we want to keep
is ourselves contained in our doubt
questions will have no answers
for darkness is the day without light
where we live unchanged in our remorse.

the mountain stream
the stream seems to know
coolness of it's touch...
the life it gives to the earth
and the laughter it sends
to all the living creatures
I laid down beside it
and listened because it seemed
to be the voice of the world
speaking in some ancient tongue...
I fell asleep there...
under the shade of the tree
and when I awoke I felt somehow wiser
perhaps the stream had slipped
a word into my seamless dreams
as though a thought has just been born
what wonders could we know
if we just knew how to listen...
