I Love You

Today is my Father's and my Grandmother's Birthday. I wish you both a very Happy Birthday and many happy returns for the day! I love you!

Before I go further with trivial issues, I want to say...

"Dad, every time we speak on the phone, before we hang up you say 'I love you' and I reply 'I love you too'. Whenever you see me (mainly Tuesday nights or when you stop by my house) you give me a big hug and ask me how I am. There is something you should know. When I tell you I love you, I really mean it. So many times we just say the words, when we are distracted or in a rush...but even so..I always mean it, for I really do love you with all my heart and soul. No father in the world, could ever compare to you. I know you have your faults as we all do, but despite this, I have never never known a man like you. Your heart is pure gold. Your compassion, caring and unwavering love is 100% focused on your family, but still you have 100% to give to your friends too. 'Tis an oddity, that someone be able to give, give, give so much and still have more to give, without thought or care to seeing whether you are getting anything in return.
Does your children's love really complete you? I see the twinkle in your eyes when we are all together..and the grandchildren are hovering around you..Who needs Santa Claus when we have you every day of the year?
I still wonder if you are happy? You would never tell me otherwise, but sometimes I see the worries and hardship of work cut deep into your mind ( A hot 40*Celcius outside and 55*C inside the truck, yesterday you worked from 4:30am till 7:15pm at night). I worry about you. You have always provided, nay overprovided. Given us everything. Spoiled us, but instilled in us a respect and love of life and people. A respect for others, no matter where they came from. You have an abundance of love to share with all. You who grew up with nothing, no loving embraces or childish pursuits...all it ever was for you was hard work. How did you become such a man? You overcame the highest of hurdles and the greatest of obstacles, never did you let them stand in your way, nor would you ever.
For your children, you answer "YES" and such a happy yes it is, for you give with such enthusiasm as if each simple request was of most importance. Every week you and I do a puzzle book, which we send off to see if we will win a prize. We may do the puzzles/crosswords at different houses, but each week we come together to compare answers. Together. That is the fun for both of us.
Your devotion and love for our mother, your wife of 35 years, is a credit to your family. How rare it is to find a man like you. I have found such a man, who I feel has qualities that are like yours, although he has not journeyed through fatherhood yet..I know he will make a good one at that. I have told him this. The rest is left to fate, destiny and hard work in overcoming those necessary yet tedious obstacles.
You have a great sense of humour, but also know when you have to be serious. Dad, on this page, I have done a paltry summary on the goodness and kindness that is within you, which shines brighter then any other star in the galaxy. How I love you....and how each day in my heart I thank the day you were born. Happy Birthday Daddy."

To my cyberfriends - This may sound like a ridiculous entry, but if you knew my father , you would understand why I had an overwhelming desire to share him with you. You can call him Smiley , that is his name to all, as befitting one who's face beams like a welcoming beacon to those fortunate to know of him.

Grandmother, you are a woman of valour. You took care of me when I was sick, plaited my hair until it got too long, (yes, you cut my hair using a bowl for guidance so it looked like a frisbee - I forgave you, once I knew it would grow back), painted nailpolish on my fingernails and stuffed me with food, until I couldn't get up off the couch. Fond childhood memories of playing dressups in the gowns g'father designed and made for you (he was a tailor). The smell of napthaline balls you put in your cupboard, still fresh in my nostrils. You are a lady, a coquette, you love to dance (and have a brand new titanium knee),sing and share the celebrations with your family. To see you smile and hear you tell of your love for us all, as if we were all the favourite grandchild - to quote "You all are my favourites" ... makes me happy... You have suffered terribly with your health, so each birthday we have with you is all the more wonderful. If I haven't told you before - Thank you for my mother. Have a wonderful, healthy and Happy Birthday..

By the way, I found out what your real first name is last night..what a surprise after 25 years of knowing you, to find out that you have been using your middle name as your first. Wonders of Wonders!

To all... HAPPY THANKSGIVING...

no trivial stuff today....
Ciao.

Soosh :-)
