HOW ANNOYING!

My favourite puzzle magazine, has sold out on us women. Let me tell you how. In the begining of July, they did a spread on finding a "larger sized women" to win a modelling contract. There were prizes of course, but they stressed that they wanted to hear from women of ALL sizes and shapes.

Being a larger girl myself, I thought WOW, why not enter. My sister said the same. All you needed to do was send in a head-shoulder photo, and a full length photo, so they could see your legs. I didn't enter in the end, neither did my sister. In a later issue, they showed photos of women of all varying sizes, mind you alot of them were a depressing sight, but some were gorgeous looking. Anyway this week, they showed photos of the finalists. 3 out of 5 were size 14- 16, one was size 14 and the other was size 16. I ask you, Would you call that a larger women? I would say 16-20 was large and 20+ is extra large.

I'm not sore about loosing, because I didn't even enter. What upsets me, is that the message to women reading this magazine, is WOMEN OVER SIZE 14 ARE CONSIDERED LARGER SIZED!!! This is WRONG WRONG WRONG. Not to mention that the label of clothes the women will receive as prizes, only makes clothes from size 10 -18. I think it is unfair to ask women of all sizes to enter, when the competition imposes restrictions before the women even enter. It's like starting a race 100 meters behind the selected top five athletes standing at the starting line.. Everyone knows it is pointless to even compete.

The magazine showed some of the entrants in bathers one which was size 22. I have no problem with this, but to make it into a freak show, when they are not even being considered for a modelling position (as only sizes 14-16 were) is frankly appaling! At least reward them for their effort.

It seems that an modelling agency (for larger sizes) was scouting for a new models, so they approached the magazine (which probably got heaps of money for this) to scout for them, promising the winner a holiday, a wardrobe and cosmetics and pantyhose. I think that most women would want a prize like that. That's what they were counting on. They had over 1000 entrants. Obviously their idea to run a competition worked. Mind you the women they chose are very striking, but I'm sure they would have found at least 1 girl either size 18 or 20 which was pretty aswell? The idea of the competition was good, but at least make it fair!

Anyway I leave you with a pin-up of me, when I went on a cruise with my family. It hasn't been airbrushed like most glossy photos, so don't send me spam!!!

See you next time...Mail me if you wish ...
