The Working Cow

You can give your baby the best even if you have to work.

I wrote this page because there is so little information out there for women who work and breastfeed. Most of the support people in LaLeche are stay-at-home moms. They are very helpful in the initial days and as support for long-term breastfeeders, but for working moms, they can only give you theory. I hope that if there are LaLeche leaders out there who have experience working outside of the home while breastfeeding, that they can contact me and help me build this page. In the mean time, I am looking for information from anyone who works outside the home and breastfeeds (or has in the past). Also, please tell me if there are any good links that I have missed.

It is important to note that if you plan to successfully return to work and continue your breastfeeding relationship, you need to treat yourself and your breastfeeding relationship differently from day one. If you are pregnant and reading this page, don't leave until you have read everything. I hope to give you a complete picture.

Here are the results of our survey so far.
