On June 15th, 1999 I set out on my first ever archaeological fieldschool to the American Southwest. The purpose of this trip was to study the ruins of Anasazi culture in Colorado and New Mexico. Though we didn't do any digging we did learn a lot about Anasazi culture. We visited many national parks and sites related to the Anasazi, among them, Mesa Verde National Park, Bandalier National Park, Chaco Canyon National Park, and Aztec Ruins, New Mexico.

Along the way from Mankato Minnesota we travelled through Iowa, South Dakota, Nebraska, and of course Colorado and eventually New Mexico. The picture at right was taken at the 4 corners region, where Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado meet, so technically we did visit in total 7 different states.

The following pages are tours of some of the interesting sites and places I visited and saw at the field school. Click on the buttons below to navigate this site. Also, some of these pages may take a moment or two to load because of the images, please have patience.

Special Thanks to: Prof. Paul Brown for hosting this wonderful field school, all of my tripmates, my parents for helping me out, and the amazing and friendly volunteers and rangers of the national parks we visited.
