A Child Remembers

“A Child Remembers”

The snow was cold

Within the child’s mind

Who remembers the chill through time.

He who clothed the window pane

Only a memory that I have known.

It seems to circle father time

As that child inside remembers.

Emotions ride so very high

Thoughts of you go running by.

This picture within my eye

Haunts with fever and a sigh.

If you could see this child’s mind

Tears would burn within your eyes

Because the child inside remembers.

Should you ask, why am I ...

So heavy into days gone by ...

The child’s unrest

Heavy in my chest

Weight that tends to bare me.

Accusations go fleeting by

While the child moves around inside.

Little is known, little comfort soul

He that doest thou scare you.

Emotions formed in tender years

To frighten a timid mind.

Impressions met by little thighs

Awakened to early in time.

And inside the child just crys.

Can’t anyone see whats been done

To little girls like me.

Or do you just close a widened eye

Pretending that nothing was ever there.

Never complaining ... what are you doing.

Just letting the pain sink deeper inside.

But the child whines ... Oh why ...

Can’t you see me ... this is I

The child you left behind.

Within your eyes I did see

An acknowledgment of he.

But far too late

You should have seen

And spoken for the child who cried.
