Dear Tina:

I have met many women in my life who have touched me. It was not until approximately 2 years ago that I met a woman who has forever changed the person I am today. I run an online support group called TEAM - Together Efforts Are Made. We are a group that is out combating Domestic Violence through education and being there for each other. It was through TEAM that I met this wonderful woman.

Margaret calls herself a back woods hick. When speaking to her you picture this Ma and Pa kettle type of person. It is far from the truth. She is a woman who lost her daughter to Domestic Violence and has been essentially in raising her 2 granddaughters. There are times I have "watched " her online as we deal with victims; I know the hurt is there and she is scared that this might just be another Tammy if they don't get out of their situation... I also have watched her be a tower of strength and push onwards for what she believes in; that there is a better and safer life out there..

Just recently I had the opportunity to meet this woman face to face for the first time. I traveled to her hometown, me, a complete stranger, known only by the words we share online. I was welcomed by her and her family with open arms. She made me feel as though I belonged there and now days that is something not often done. I spent a few glorious days with her family and the memories from that time will be everlasting...

Life has not been fair to this woman. To quote my Mom "Parents are not supposed to outlive their children" Margaret is one woman who did and she has made me and many others realize that you just have to believe !!!!
