POW/MIA

POW's Prayer

By Jean Ray and L. Vancil

Father,
Your own Son was a prisoner.
Condemned, He died for us.
Victorious, He returned to bring us the gift of life everlasting.
Comfort us now in our longing for the return of the
Prisoners Of War and those Missing In Action.

Help us Father;
Inspire us to remove the obstacles.
Give courage to those who know the truth to speak out.
Grant wisdom to the negotiators, and compassion to the jailors.
Inspire the media to speak out as loudly as they have in the past.
Protect those who seek in secret and help them to succeed.
Show us the tools to do Your Will.
Guard and bless those in captivity, their families,
and those who work for their release.

Let them come home soon.

Thank you Father,
Amen.

This is the newest letter I sent to the President, Vice President, Senators and members of Congress concerning the POW/MIA issue... (you'll notice that I'm not a great writer but hopefully good enough to make my point.) I sent the letter, not only to my state representatives, but to EVERY Senate and Congressional member, the president and the vice-president. I thought ONE or TWO might take the time to read it... so far, NO response ! Please write one yourself and let's get our men back on American soil where they belong !

SUBJECT: From a Concerned U.S. Citizen - POW/MIA ISSUE
FROM: Leah -----,
United States President, United States Vice President,
United States Senate and United States House of Representatives

The White House
Executive Office Building
United States Senate
United States House of Representatives
Washington, DC

Dear Mr. President, Mr. Vice President,
Honorable Members of The United States Senate, and
Honorable Members of The United States
House of Representatives,

I have never before been inspired to write a letter to any previous government officials, but I am very concerned about an issue that has been hanging over the heads of American citizens for many years. I'm referring to those brave men who fought in the Vietnam War and were reported as POW/MIA. I have recently adopted two of these POW's by the names of James Arthur Harwood and John William Armstrong, both from Dallas, Texas. I have created a webpage in their honor and hope that soon they or their remains will be back in the United States where they belong before another year goes by. It is embarassing to me as an American citizen and a Texan to read some of the documents that I have read concerning those men we downright deserted over there.
I won't send the synopsis of what happened to James and John in Vietnam because I know you have access to much more information on them than I did. I will list the basics so that you will know, without a doubt, who I have adopted. I would very much appreciate a DETAILED report of what YOU have done and what's being done, in general, to bring home these 2 men.

These men are just two of almost 2,000 Americans who are still missing in Southeast Asia. Reports flow in that hundreds of Americans are still alive in Vietnam and Laos and I just believe that if those reports had been properly investigated, we would have some answers to the whereabouts of at least some of these men ! I have read that there are photos in evidence at the Defense Department that clearly show "distress signals" which can be viewed from the air. WHO ELSE but Americans would have left those identification traits in the landscape of Vietnam ? If they have been proven to be fake or just appear to be evidence, due to weather, terrain, etc., (2 of the many rather unbelievable explainations given as to what is seen in the satellite photos in question), WHY are these photos still classified ?

The war in Vietnam tore this country apart, for awhile, but in the past few years we're coming together again and the veterans that went to Vietnam can finally, I hope, feel welcomed and "at home" in their homeland, but what has come of those that were captured or haven't been accounted for ? Does the US government consider them expendable for some reason ?

I urge you to please look into the fate of James Arthur Harwood, John William Armstrong and the others left behind. Please help bring closure to this haunting issue for the families, friends and all of the other Americans who are still hoping that they won't be ignored any longer.

I am proud to be a Texan and I love being an American but I feel very strongly about this issue and am losing what little faith I have in government, due to the lack of interest shown through the years by my government concerning this issue. POW'S held since the Korean War have recently been in the news. They escaped their own personal hell as POW's after all these years and have finally been reunited with loved ones. If this can happen to them what's to say it can't happen to some of the Americans reported POW/MIA from the Vietnam War ? Please do your part to restore my faith in our government.... it's the RIGHT thing to do !

Please write to me as to what, if anything, you are doing about this issue. I will be waiting to hear from you ! Thank you for your time and may God bless you and yours...

Respectfully,

I will post here when and if and when I hear from any of
our nations representatives.

You may be saying to yourself, "What can I do, I'm just one person" ? Don't worry, you won't be in the fight alone ! There are many people who still believe in doing the right thing, who are willing to fight for
those brave men who were willing to fight for the freedom of people they didn't know, in a country far away just because they were called by our government to go. You see, your small voice, when joined with others, will become the cry for freedom that these men so greatly deserve ! Living or dead, they are Americans and belong in America !
