Chicken Soup for your souls:

You Are a Marvel

Each second we live is a new and unique moment

of the universe that will never be again.

And what do we teach our children?

That two and two make four, and that Paris is the capital of France.

We should say to each of them, Do you know what you are?

You are a marvel. You are unique.

In all the years that have passed,

there has never been another child like you.

Your legs, your arms, your clever fingers, the way you move.

You may become a Shakespeare, a Michelangelo, a Beethoven.

You have the capacity for anything. Yes, you are a marvel.

And when you grow up, can you then harm another who is, like you, a marvel?

We must all work to make the world worthy of its children.

~The Best Day of My Life~

Today, when I awoke, I suddenly realized that this is the best day of my life, ever! There were times when I wondered if I would make it to today; but I did! And because I did I'm going to celebrate! Today.

I'm going to celebrate what an unbelievable life I have had so far:

the accomplishments, the many blessings, and, yes, even the hardships

because they have served to make me stronger.

I will go through this day with my head held high,

and a happy heart. I will marvel at God's seemingly simple gifts:

the morning dew, the sun, the clouds, the trees, the flowers, the birds.

Today, none of these miraculous creations will escape my notice.

Today, I will share my excitement for life with other people.

I'll make someone smile. I'll go out of my way to perform

an unexpected act of kindness for someone I don't even know.

Today, I'll give a sincere compliment to someone who seems down.

I'll tell a child how special he is, and I'll tell someone I love...

just how deeply I care for her and how much she means to me.

Today is the day I quit worrying about what I don't have

and start being grateful for all the wonderful things God has already given me.

I'll remember that to worry is just a waste of time because my faith in God

and his Divine Plan ensures everything will be just fine.

And tonight, before I go to bed,

I'll go outside and raise my eyes to the heavens.

I will stand in awe at the beauty of the stars and the moon,

and I will praise God for these magnificent treasures.

As the day ends and I lay my head down on my pillow,

I will thank the Almighty for the best day of my life.

And I will sleep the sleep of a contented child,

excited with expectation because I know tomorrow

is going to be the best day of my life, ever!

I believe the nicest and sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens, but just those that bring simple little pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls off a string. -L.M. Montgomery

ACCEPTANCE

Acceptance is the answer to all my problems today.

When I am disturbed, it is because I find some

person, place, thing, or situation-- Some fact of life -- unacceptable to me, and

I can find no serenity until I accept that

person, place, thing, or situation as being exactly

the way it is supposed to be at this moment.

Nothing, absolutely nothing happens in

God's world by mistake.

Unless I accept life completely on life's terms,

I cannot be happy.

I need to concentrate not so much on what needs to

be changed in the world as on what needs to

be changed in me and in my attitudes.

Count no day lost in which you waited your turn,

took only your share and sought advantage over no one.

-Robert Brault-

Once in an age God sends to some of us a friend, who loves not a false imagining, an unreal character in us; but looking through all the rubbish of our imperfections, loves in us the divine ideal of our natures--not the man that we are, but the angel that we may be.

~~Stowe

The commitment of love, at whatever level, has to be a permanent thing, a life-wager. If I say that I am your friend, I will always be your friend, not as long as or until anything. I will always be there for you. Effective love is not like the retractable point on a ballpoint pen.

~~John Powell

Have a wonderful day!
