WordPlay is a direct descendant of another group with the same name in which the participants enjoyed rollicking around with the pleasures of the English language.
In the course of changing moderators and venues, the group underwent some difficult times. In particular, it had to redefine its own nature.
This redefinition resulted in the formation of two groups. WordPlay is the senior and less structured group. A second group, WordFun, is much more structured and has guidelines for its subscription base.
