Books, Music & Movies
Amazon.com
One of the best places to find anything on the internet is at Amazon.com, and since they've been expanding their scope in the past few years, these days you can purchase a ton of Hayley Mills items from them--DVDs, VHS, books, music, etc. Just click on 'search'.
Half.com
Another great place to search for Hayley related items is Half.com. Here they offer new & used products...a lot of the time you can get a pretty good deal on a barely used CD or movie, so it's worth a shot. Just head over to Half.com and enter Hayley's name into the handy dandy search box.
Ebay.com
And of course, one of the best places to find memorabilia is the most famous of the auction sites, Ebay.com. A lot of Hayley's harder to find movies can be found here, as well as her CD on occasion. You can usually find memorabilia from her Disney movies as well, so that's definitely a plus.
Ioffer.com
This is another auction site, just like Ebay, except not quite as well known. As a result, while they might not have as many Hayley items up for grabs, there's definitely less likely to be a hundred other fans vying for the same item. It's worth a look: ioffer.com.
Movies
Amazon.com
Like I mentioned before, Amazon.com has a pretty good selection of new DVDs & videos, and when a new one isn't available, there are usually links through which you can buy a used copy (often for a fairly reasonable price). I've picked out several titles and made notes of their format and availability below. Notice that I have not included prices, as those are subject to change.
As for the VHS films available at Amazon.com, there are a total of 44 (way too many to list here). Instead, I've provided a link to the VHS search results. It should be noted that there are many films available only on VHS at this point, including: Back Home, The Bananas Boat, Appointment With Death, Whistle Down the Wind, Africa! Texas Style, The Chalk Garden, Tiger Bay, & even Hayley's A&E Biography.

- The Daydreamer - DVD. New & used. Includes a poster & still gallery.
- Cry of the Penguins - DVD. New & used. This one usually comes at bargain prices...no kidding. Not one of the best films ever made, but everyone is welcome to their opinion. It was actually directed by Roy Boulting, Hayley's one-time husband.
- Tiger Bay - DVD. Only used copies available these days, and those come at a price. If you can manage to find one, I highly recommend you pick it up...this is one of my favorites.
UK/PAL
As you may know, not every VCR or DVD player can read every single tape or DVD you put in. Different countries or regions often have different formatting, so for all of you Hayley fans with systems set to the PAL format, here's something just for you.
- SendIt.com - This English based store offers several of Hayley's films for sale, including The Family Way, The Flame Trees of Thika, Tiger Bay & Whistle Down the Wind. Not a bad selection!
Music
CDs
- "Let's Get Together With Hayley Mills", the CD version of Hayley's very own album, can usually be found (used) at Amazon.com, but there are also copies available at Half.com. Prices vary, and since this title is no longer being produced, sometimes the price can get a little steep.
- The Card - 1994 London Cast. Hayley sings on Track 14 as the Countess of Chell, I believe. The soundtrack is actually out of stock since it is no longer produced, but there are several used copies available for bargain prices at Amazon.
- Classic Disney, Volume 1 - Disney released a collection of some of its most famous songs, both past and present, on a series of CDs (five, I believe--three included Hayley-related tracks). The first installment includes "Let's Get Together" from "The Parent Trap" and "Ugly Bug Ball" from "Summer Magic."
- Classic Disney, Volume 2 - This one contains "On the Front Porch" from "Summer Magic."
- Classic Disney, Volume 4 - Includes "Femininity" from "Summer Magic" and "Enjoy It!" from "In Search of the Castaways."
Sheet Music
- Let's Get Together - Composed by Sherman and Sherman. Piano/Vocal/Chords. Arranged for piano and voice with guitar chords. $3.95 from Sheetmusicplus.com.
Books
Film Related
Ever want to know where the story for a film came from? Well, a lot of times it comes from an existing novel, and Hayley's films are no exception. Film directors and writers always take creative licenses with an author's work, so it can be quite interesting to go back to the original source and see the variations between the two finished products. Below are a few books that spurred the creation of some well-known Hayley films.
- Whistle Down the Wind - Mary Hayley Bell, Hayley's mother, wrote this novel back in 1957, and in 1961, Hayley starred in the film adaptation. In the late 1990's, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber produced a musical based on Mary Hayley Bell's book, and that spurred the re-publication of the original novel, which I have linked to above.
- Das doppelte Lottchen. Ein Roman für Kinder - This German book, by Erich Kästner, was the basis for one of Hayley's most famous films, "The Parent Trap."
- Pollyanna - This book by Eleanor Porter was the inspiration for the 1960 Disney film, "Pollyanna." First published in 1913, the story of the glad girl has resonated with generations and generations of children and adults alike. This edition was published in 2002.
- In Search of the Castaways - Hayley's 1963 film "In Search of the Castaways" was based on the classic Jules Verne novel of the same title. The latest edition was published in 2002.
- Endless Night - This one was written by the master of mystery, Dame Agatha Christie, one of my personal favorites. This particular book is more gothic than her usual fare, but no less gripping. Another plus: since Agatha Christie is one of the leading authors of all time, her books are always plentiful (and thus cheap). Used copies of this one start as low as a few cents!
Miscellaneous
- Mouse Tracks: The Story of Walt Disney Records - This book chronicles the 50-year history of the Disney recording companies launched by Walt and Roy Disney in the mid-1950s, when Disneyland Park, Davy Crockett, and the Mickey Mouse Club were taking the world by storm. Along the way, it reveals the Disney brothers’ struggles, major successes, and occasional misfires. Included are impressions and details of teen pop princesses Annette Funicello and Hayley Mills. Complementing each chapter are performer biographies, reproductions of album covers and art, and facsimiles of related promotional material. Published in 2006.
- My God: Letters from the Famous on God and the Life Hereafter - Hayley Mills and Marcus Maclaine collected stories and opinions from people with a variety of backgrounds on a truly fascinating topic: their views on God and the possibility of an afterlife. Published in 1988.
- Still Memories - Hayley's father, Sir John Mills, is a legend. This book is an amazing photographic record of his life, his family, his times and his friends. The pictures and anecdotes are fantastic, and there are lots of the Mills' family life, too! Published in 2000.
- Up in the Clouds, Gentlemen Please - Sir John Mills' autobiography. Originally published in hardcover in 1980, the link here will take you to the revised an updated paperback, which was published in 2002.
- Him, Her & Me: The Autobiography of Mr. Chips, a Yorkshire Terrier - I know it sounds weird, but this is a really cute book. Written by Mary Hayley Bell, Hayley's mother, it gives the reader a candid look at the life of the Mills family from the point of view of their dog, Mr. Chips. I haven't been able to locate a copy for sale, but if anyone has any luck, let me know. Published 1981.
- What Shall We Do Tomorrow? - This one actually has two different titles: "What Shall We Do Tomorrow?: An Autobiography", as well as "What Shall We Do Tomorrow?: The Story of my Families." As you may have guessed from the title, it's Mary Hayley Bell's autobiography. As always, there are some cute family pictures. Published in 1968.
