My All~Time Favorite Movies
These are my absolute favorite movies, the ones
I have watched over and over again. I don't know why anyone would care what
my favorite movies are, but I'm bored. *l* This page is under HEAVY construction
as I hope to add links to the movie titles and such. I don't claim to be a critic, so don't
hate me if you don't share my opinion. :) These are not really in any
particular order, except for "Jaws" which pretty much tops everything.
I hope you enjoy. *s* AND if you think there is a movie that
I should see, please e~mail me and suggest it.
~Jaws~ I'm not kidding when I tell you that my parents took me to see this movie when it came out and (well, it's not so much that they "took ME" to see it--they just didn't get a sitter) the VERY next weekend we went to Florida. I was 7 or 8 when the movie came out and it terrified me to the point that I would NOT swim in the pool at the hotel, I did NOT want to take a bath and I CERTAINLY didn't swim in the ocean. But, a year or so later I read the book, and I still watch the movie EVERY single time it comes on tv. I love it. I'm fascinated with sharks, this movie, and that kick-butt music thrills me to no end.
~Raising Arizona~ Yeah, yeah...it's a little weird but Holly Hunter is a fantastic actress and Nick Cage is just yummy. The movie is hilariously stupid. It's great. :)
~The Contender~ This was a sleeper hit, I guess. I had never heard about it but just picked it up in the video store one day because not much else was in. It's fantastic. But, if you watch it, make SURE to pay attention, else you're lost.
~Schindler's List~I saw this movie with my best friend the day it came out. I'll never forget the atmosphere in the theatre. Everyone sat there in stunned silence. I went through every emotion possible: guilt, anger, sadness, everything. *sigh* The acting was fantastic--and even though he was
the cruelest person imaginable in this movie, I fell in love with Ralph Fiennes. *s* If this movie doesn't touch you, well, I feel sorry for you. :)
~Pretty In Pink~ Ok, this is a leftover from my teen years but there's this one scene in the movie that seals it for me: where Molly Ringwald confronts Andrew McCarthy at the locker and screams at him that he's ashamed to be seen with her, etc., well, anyway, I just love it. James Spader plays a perfect a**hole role. He's such a jerk in the movie. He's sinfully delicious. :)
~Rob Roy~I just love this movie. It stars Liam Neeson and Jessica Lange BUT Tim Roth steals the show as an evil aristocrat who tears their world apart. This is a wonderful story. I watch it as often as possible.
~Remember The Titans~ This is great movie. My son plays football (I think he loves it more than he loves me) and several parents and kids from his football team all went to see it and it was just really special to all of us.
~Titanic~Breathtaking. This movie has to be my favorite movie of 1997. It's the saddest story and now since I've seen it I'm very curious about the stories of the people aboard the ship. Please, see this film.
~Murder In The First~Kevin Bacon is brilliant in this movie. He was amazing! Simply amazing. I cried like a baby during this movie. It's a must, must, MUST see.
~A Fish Called Wanda~*giggle* I love this movie. I now have a fondness for men with speech impediments because of it.
(Of course I'm serious!) I love Kevin Kline. :)
~A Time To Kill~I never moved my eyes from the screen when I watched this movie. This one affected me somewhat like "Schindler's List" did, but it hit closer to home. (I'm from Georgia) You have to see this movie, you have to. As a matter of fact, quit reading my page and go rent it now. Sidenote: I am sure I will marry Matthew McConaughy one day.
~Legends Of The Fall~A story of three brothers, their father and a girl (sorta). Beautiful rustic scenery including Brad Pitt, what more
could you want? It's a romantic story with just enough action to keep
men entertained. And WHY didn't someone tell me that Henry Thomas was
going to be so beautiful? (Think "E.T.") I have to say that there is one
scene (without giving so much away) that Brad Pitt is searching for
his baby brother (Thomas) and it's a very dramatic scene~ripped my heart out. (pun intended--see
the movie).
~The Shining~This movie scared the Sh** out of me, STILL scares the Sh** out of me. I don't remember how old I was when it came out, maybe 11 or so and my parents...well let's just say I'm still in therapy. :)
~Glory~An amazing story about African~Americans who fought in the Civil War. Morgan Freeman is SO very talented and Denzel Washington
has a wonderful performance in this movie.
~A Christmas Story~I love, love, LOVE this movie. It's more of a family
favorite than "It's A Wonderful Life." It's about a little boy who wants
nothing more than a Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas. He has the best
imagination of any kid I've ever seen. :) Watch it, I triple~dog dare you.
~The Lion King~This has to be the most beautiful movie I have ever watched. The story is just SO brilliant and the animation is simply amazing. I can't even tell you how many times I've watched this movie and I still cry every time Mufasa..well, you'll just have to watch it and see. :) And yes, I KNOW I'm 33, but so what?
~Young Guns~(I &II) Keifer Sutherland, Emilio Estevez, Lou Diamond Phillips, Charlie Sheen,
Dermot Mulroney, Casey Siemasko? (I'm not even going to attempt I know how to spell his last name)-----all on horses, all in chaps. Enough said.
~Shawshank Redemption~Another grand performance by Morgan Freeman. Tim Robbins is a mastermind. This is another must see.
